How to Empty all rows within a Power Pivot Model

Hi,
I would like to know how to empty all rows within a Power Pivot model. I am in the process of creating quite a complex Power Pivot model. This means I need to create some sort of primitive version control process, e.g. stored multiple backups of the Power
Pivot model without the data.

For Power Pivot it means that you can get rid of all your data, but Keep Relations, measures, ..everything.
Just import your tables once in order to get the connections right and move on.

How do I filter on multiple values / labels within a large data set within a Pivot Table which points to a Power Pivot Model. I am current using Excel 2010 64 bit. I intend to empower users to achieve this by simply using the Excel user interface, not by
using Excel formula or DAX. Please find the attached screen shot as a worked example, also in my real life example not all the values are available in the drop down. You can't use a slicer for the same reason as you can't use a drop down. I guess what I was
hoping for is for the user to be able to enter AND or OR within the associated dialog box. Is there any way around this?

You can get all rows red by selecting the color red in the "Color" and "frequency" to 1 under the "Alternate Row/Column colors".
I tried doing it and the colors freaked me out (all red) :-D

DMV to list table relationships in a Power Pivot model ?

I have used different queries based on DMVs which let you extract data from a Power Pivot model in order to create a design documentation: list of tables, columns, calculated columns formulas, measures ...etc.
Yet, I have not found the way to extract a list of all tables relationships in the model. Sure enough, I can copy/paste it from the PowerPivot window.
But would someone have a query that extracts table relationships ?

I do not believe that there is any $system based DMV which returns relationship information.
You can get this information from an SSAS Tabular instance using a DISCOVER_CSDL_METADATA call, but that returns an XML document with the all the metadata and I don't know of any easy way to call that against a PowerPivot model (unless it's deployed to sharepoint)

What user should be used when importing a Power Pivot model into SSAS tabular?

I created a Power Pivot model using my own userid.
In SSDT I can import that model but it saves the model in my own My Documents folder. In SSMS, other users can browse the data in that model.
If I tell SSDT to save the model in the Public user's My Documents, the model is not visible in SSMS for anyone to see.
If a colleague imports the model, it can be seen in SSMS but there is no data when it is browsed.
There seems to be a tie up with the user id I used when the model was first created. Is it possible to break that link, or should we have a user id specifically for creating and deploying Power BI models via SSAS tabular?

after building a power pivot model which includes a number of related tables
i realized i want to analyze results in a simple table not in pivot tables
there for my model should result to one table of records.
So i guess i need to start with a single query which will return a single results table.
Can i transform my original model to free sql to be used as my data source?

In Excel 2013 you can do this:
click ribbon Data / Existing Connections
click tab Tables
select one of the tables of your PowerPivot model (not the Workbook Data Model at the beginning of the list)
click Open
In the Import Data dialog box, confirm you want to import a Table and click OK
Right-click any of the cells of the table and select Table / Edit DAX menu
In the Edit DAX dialog box change Command Type to DAX, the write the DAX query you want in the Expression text box, then click OK
Of course, in order to write the DAX query I suggest you using a better editor such as DAX Studio (more info here:

I have to create table in firstview. My requirement is I will give 4 or 5 inputs at a time then click on save button that input data will be saved in ECC system
So in First View I have to create table by using apply template that time I have to pass all u201Cinput filedsu201D.
In that time the table having only first row editable and remaining rows will be disable. I need all rows in enable in that Table.
Or
My Requirement is how to enter multiple input detals at a time. At a time customer enter 4 or 5 inputs click on submit buttion that data will be saved in ECC System.
How to do this work.

Hi Vijay,
The number of editable rows in the table would be equivalent to the number of elements the node to which the table is bound contains. In your case, it might be only having one element for the node as so you can only see that row enabled while the rest of the rows are disabled. So, in case you want even the rest of the rows to be enabled then, you should just create more elements for the same node (with or without setting any of the attribute within).
Then, when you need to use the values in the table (existing or modified or new values), then loop through the table node and check if all the attributes within the node or the mandatory field value for the table entry is not nul, otherwise, ignore the corresponding table node element.
Rather, I would suggest you to have a button say "Add Rows" and within the action of the node, I would like you to create one more element for the table at the end. This way, you wont have any unnecessary element in the table to be checked for not holding any value.

I think this example of Steve Muench will help you.
"Recalc Sum of Salary at the View Object Level
This example illustrates a technique where a transient attribute of a view object is updated to reflect the total sum of some attribute of all the rows in the view object's default row set. The code to recalculate the sum of the salary is in the getSumOfSal() method in the EmpViewImpl.java class. The custom EmpViewRowImpl.java class for the view row implements the getter method for the SumOfSal attribute by delegating to this view object method. The EmpViewImpl class extends a base DeclarativeRecalculatingViewObjectImpl class that contains some generic code to enable declaratively indicating that one attribute's change should recalculate one or more other attributes. The EmpView defines the "Recalc_Sal" property to leverage this mechanism to recalculate the "SumOfSal" attribute. If you restrict the VO's results using the BC Tester tool, you'll see the sum of the salaries reflects the subset. If you add a new row or delete an existing row, the sum of sal is updated, too."

How to display all rows in the report in one page in Oracle APEX 3.2

We are using Oracle Applications Express 3.2 on oracle database 10.2.0.5 on solaris environment.
One of our report contains total no of rows 50000. when we ran report by default it is showing 15 and i can go search and change display no of rows to different numbers and click go.
My question is it possible to display all 50000 rows during first time report launching without going to change rows. Is there any option that we can set how many number of rows that we can display during report design.

As vee pointed out it is possible, however the question you need to ask yourself is is it wise?
Bear in mind that displaying 50,000 rows on a single HTML page means a lot of code that must be loaded by the client browser all at once. What it will do to your page loading time? Browser memory? Network bandwidth? Also, do you really believe that it is effective to let an end user look for a specific row among 50,000 rows?

Keep in mind that you cannot rollback the truncate command.
Once you truncate a table all of it's data AND statistics are gone.
If you do not want to use PL/SQL to delete all rows you can generate a script by SQL

Well, you wouldn't do it in Java. You would do it in JSTL, preferably.
So if your POJO had a getRows method which returned your List of row objects, you would get the list like this (after putting the POJO into request scope under the name of "pojo"):
${pojo.rows}
And if you wanted to go through that list and process each of the rows, then c:forEach would be the way:
<c:forEach value="row" items="${pojo.rows} />
(check the documentation, I'm posting this from memory)

I have tried to roll back external transaction and also tried to abort OracleBulkCopy() but it still inserted all rows. Anyone knows how to do this?
Case 1: Didn't work. All row inserted anyway.

OracleTransaction trans = connection.BeginTransaction();
OracleBulkCopy bulkCopy = new OracleBulkCoopy(connection, OracleBulkCopyOptions.Default);

bulkCopy.WriteToServer(SomeDataTable);
trans.Rollback();
Case 2: Use OracleRowsCopiedEventHandler delegate and in this callback set Oracle.RowsCopiedEventsArgs.Abort to true and then rollback on the transaction in catch block. Didn't work either.

OK, I have gotten the answer from Oracle. Transaction is not supported with OracleBulkCopy() currently.
