Thing is i dont know how to enable CPU fan control/regulation ifd possible. Doesn't realy see anything anything in the mobo manual except mentioning AMD Cool’n’Quiet.
This fan i have installed is running fine but i thk it runs full speed all the time and that makes a lot of noise - not needed.
Thx for any advice/tip/hint

40 °C is fine. The minimum fan speed can be set is a % of the full capacity.
Start with 12.5% and if the fan needs to adjusts it's fan speed too often and it get's annoying you can raise it to 25% or more.

    I have installed the corecenter and put it into auto and the sound increased a little.....but its still annoying.

    Those other options you mentioned have nothing to do with how quiet your CPU Fan is Going to Be (By the Way why, what type of Heatsink Fan are you using)? and under Core-Center, You can Manually set the speed of Both the CPU and NB Fans by Selecting "User Mode" in the Fan Options UI,There you can choose up to 7 different speed settings.....And If you plan on Overclocking your FSB on your PC, you should be very careful on how low you set the CPU Fan, as It can and will get hot if you are using the "Stock" Intel Thermal Solution......If you want Great Cooling capability and a Quiet Fan, you should consider some of the Aftermarket Units for sale out there, I happen to have on all 3 of my systems (and Love) the Zalman 7000 AlCu heatsink fan unit, it is Big 96mm fan but Quiet, even at Full speed, and it is a Variable Speed (hardware and software adjustable) as at 100% speed, it only has to spin at 2,700 RPM'S, where the Stock Intel Unit spins at Close to 5,000 RPM'S, and with the Zalman you maintain about a -12 Degree C Delta in cooling capability over the Stock Intel unit.............................Sean REILLY875

  • Create Remote Control and Monitor VI

    Hi all,
    I have 2 VIs. One is PC Host VI and other is cFP2200  real-time running VI.
     Now I can use PC host and cFP shared variable to control and monitor in the same network.
    But I have a problem that I need 2 or more cFP in the same network.How can I seprate to control themone by one?
    They are using the same program but set with different IP.
    Does shared variables are using fix IP and can I type the cFP2000 network IP in PC Host VI to select different cFP?
    How to do ?
    Thanks.
    Robert

    Hello Robert,
    You will need to use a separate shared variable for each cFP. You can create a Case Structure in your Host VI to select which shared variable to use based on which cFP you select. I think that's the simplest option for you.
    There is also a way to programmatically change the data binding for a shared variable, but this requires the DSC Module. Take a look at this article if you want to check out this option: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/2E8BAD0EA218A7558625712E0003F044?OpenDocument

    Good moorning!
        I'm developping a web application, to control and monitor several instruments, Fieldpoint and GPIB. I haven't found any problems yet (I'm not asking for help ), but I'd like to hear your experience in this field. I've just created a website (an ugly website, I recognize). And I'm learning how to open front panels on the web, and changing from one to another.
       Do you have active websites with visible front panels from the web? Do they have public access?

  • HP PRO 3400 Series desktop won't boot CPU fan starts and stops , no video, no beeps

    I have the above computer with an i3-2125 CPU, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and a 300GB Seagate Hard drive.  I've had it for about 2 years and been working fine. It started acting up about 2 months ago.  It would lose the date and time.  I checked the battery, and it was OK, so I kept using the computer.  Then on 9/15/2014 it hung on "Starting Windows", I did the following:
    1.  Ran the built in HP diagnostic on hard drive and memory and they both passed.
    2.  Tried to go to last known good configuration and nothing happened.
    3.  Noticed the date and time were off, replaced the battery, nothing changed.
    4.  Tried another hard drive from another HP PRO 3400 Series and it would boot up but could not set date in bios.
    5.  Tried all kinds of things but could not set date in bios.
          a.  Bios date read 48/00/0048 after removing and replacing battery.
          b,  Tried to reset date to 9/16/2914 and it gets 56/00/0051
    6.  Then it wouldn't boot at all.   So now when you turn on the power, the CPU fan starts and runs for about 1 second, then shuts off for 4 seconds, then starts and runs for another 1 sec and it does this continuously.  There is  no video and no beeps and no difference when all memory is removed.
    7.  I removed the power supply, and checked voltages.  It appears to be OK.
    8.  I removed the motherboard, and inspected it- saw nothing obvious.
    9.  I connected the power supply to the motherboard with nothing else connected to the motherboard, and I get the same thing.  CPU fan starts then stops continuously, no video no beeps.
    10.  I am thinking it is the Motherboard, but I sure could use some suggestions as to what to do next.
    Thanks

  • Dell Vostro 3560 CPU Fan Control Tips

    I'm in the process of configuring my brand new Vostro 3560 and one of the things I noticed was that the CPU fan was blasting full speed all the time even when the machine was idle. After some researching I came up with the following solution using i8kmon and I'll post it here for others:
    Disclaimer 1: In this configuration, you will be setting up thresholds on what fan speeds are used at a specific temperature. If you use this config, this assumes that your machine is a) reporting the correct temperature and b) the fan speed setting works for your specs. Always monitor your laptop and change the configuration if your laptop feels too hot.
    Disclaimer 2: I've only had this laptop for a couple of days now, so no long-term stress testing has been performed in this configuration.
    This is a link that helped me a lot. It's Ubuntu specific, so be aware of the differences: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s … ion/204193.
    Please post any thoughts or feel free to correct me where applicable:
    Install the following packages:
    i8kmon
    i8kutils
    Create/modify the following config files:
    /etc/modules-load.d/i8k.conf
    # Load Dell Fan Speed Control (i8k) at boot
    i8k
    /etc/conf.d/i8kmon. Please note that there are conflicting values reported when you Google this. In my case, the following worked:
    # Arguments to be passed to the i8kmon daemon
    I8KMON_ARGS="--nouserconfig --daemon"
    /etc/rc.conf. Add i8kmon to your DAEMONS:
    DAEMONS=(hwclock ... i8kmon ...)
    /etc/i8kutils/i8kmon.conf
    This is the file where you set the temperature thresholds and fan speeds in the "set config" values. Your specific laptop configuration could be different, so Google around.
    Lines changed:
    set config(daemon) 1
    set config(auto) 1
    set config(timeout) 2
    set config(0) {{- 0} -1 55 -1 55}
    set config(1) {{- 1} 45 60 45 60}
    set config(2) {{- 2} 55 125 55 125}
    set config(3) {{- 2} 70 128 70 128}
    Entire listing:

    # Temperature thresholds: {fan_speeds low_ac high_ac low_batt high_batt}
    # These were tested on the I8000. If you have a different Dell laptop model
    # you should check the BIOS temperature monitoring and set the appropriate
    # thresholds here. In doubt start with low values and gradually rise them
    # until the fans are not always on when the cpu is idle.
    set config(0) {{- 0} -1 55 -1 55}
    set config(1) {{- 1} 45 60 45 60}
    set config(2) {{- 2} 55 125 55 125}
    set config(3) {{- 2} 70 128 70 128}
    edit: changed temperature thresholds - I think the key temps are: 55: turn on fan at level 1 until cooled down to 45. Above 60, start blasting the fan at full speed

    If you're using systemd, to run i8kmon you should edit i8kmon.service file
    /usr/lib/systemd/system/i8kmon.service
    from
    [Service]
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/i8kmon -nd
    to
    [Service]
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/i8kmon --daemon --nouserconfig

  • CPU Fan Speed and Memory Questions

    I"ve noticed recently that my fans sound a little different. When using aperture and sliding some of the image adjustment controls the fan will increase as I'm sliding the controls and stop when I stop.
    I've been monitoring with istat pro, and my CPU fan is almost always at 0, I've seen it not at 0 a few times but very rarely.
    Readings:
    Power Supply: 599
    Exhaust: 655
    CPU Fan: 0
    HD/Expansion: 499
    Temperatures seem normal except northbridge has always run a little hot since I got the machine. About 180F
    I did the hardware test and the message I got was:
    4MOT/1/4000002:CPU_MEM
    I'm assuming this means that one of my memory chips is bad but where do I go to find out what this code means? And does this mean there is no problem with my CPU fan or did the test just end when it found this error?

    Good news about the RAM. Have you checked to see if the fan is gunked up with dust and dirt or some other obstruction? Could free it up or be the source of a fan failure.
    A simple procedure is to reset the SMC (System Management controller). Here are Apple's instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    The SMC has control over the fans. The reset won't do any harm but follow the instructions.

  • Re: p67a gd65 b3 CPU fan control staying at 100% ?

    I hate to be reviving this thread, but it's already got evidence of my problem.
    Basically, Only 2 out of the 4 PWM controllers on the motherboard (P67a-GD65) allow for fan control. This was fine originally, when I only had two fans in my case, but when I upgraded to a third and plugged it in, it simply ran at 100% speed. Multiple scans in speedfan only found the CPU control and two PWMs. Looking in the BIOS it only saw two as well, even though the third fan was plugged in and running at 100%.
    My BIOS version is the one just before the ivy bridge update, so the 'improved system fan control' apparently didn't help.

    Quote from: Henry on 28-May-12, 04:09:10
    * There are only 2 PWM not 4, CPU fan & sys fan 1. The others are fan speed monitoring only and are not speed controlled.
    * Where do you get the idea that there is Ivy update for P67? The latest BIOS is 1.I:
    Update CPU Micro Code for Sandy Bridge C2 CPU
    The BIOS update page [http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-GD65.html#/?div=BIOS];[Won't let me hyperlink] shows '- Update BIOS for IvyBridge 22nm CPU.' for BIOS v4. I nabbed version 1.19 because I have an i3-2100.
    The CPU fan is PWM controlled, but so are two of the SYSfans (I am able to control them through speedfan). I find it extremely hard to believe that the two other ones are for 'monitoring' only. You're telling me that they have 3 pins, two for voltage and one for monitoring, but they can't alter the voltage at all, so you'd have to put a controller between the pins and the fan? That completely erases the purpose of having the power coming from the motherboard. You could just get a fan controller that does the same thing, without having to screw around with the motherboard at all. Plus, speedfan doesn't even notice the PWM coming from either SYSFAN3 or SYSFAN4, if they are used for monitoring.
    This is the motherboard you're talking about, right? SYSFAN headers in red, and CPU in green.

  • How to enable execute-disable bit and other hidden settings on Lenovo 3000 N200 model 0769!

    2008-11-16: I have posted some more settings, scroll down to message 19 in this thread to read them.
    Hi,
    Here's some good news for anyone with a Lenovo 3000 N200 model 0769, who is disappointed and frustrated with the lack of options in the BIOS setup menu. (I had a moan about that in this thread.)
    This is a long post but I hope you'll find it worthwhile. Here are the features/settings which I will explain how to enable:
    The BIOS disables the execute-disable bit function of the CPU, with no way to turn it on. You can enable it.
    You can set VGA and VESA graphics modes to not be stretched to fill the whole screen (sharper graphics with no distorted aspect ratio).
    Speed up the POST display by skipping the memory test
    Disable various features (if you don't use them, that might save some power): the HD audio controller, WLAN card, on-board LAN, shadowing of the video BIOS
    Enable beep before booting the OS
    Enable key click sound (only in DOS, not Windows or Linux)
    I'm still working on this, and hope to figure out more hidden settings soon, e.g. to disable the DVD drive and trackpad, and to change the video output from NTSC to PAL.
    The information below applies to the Lenovo 3000 N200 model 0769 with BIOS version 3.03. My N200 has Nvidia graphics. For some background on the general principles/research required to figure this out, please see this thread at Wimsbios.com.
    To change the settings, you need to create a bootable DOS floppy disk or USB drive. Download SYMCMOS.EXE (Google for it) and put it on the bootable disk. Boot the disk and run SYMCMOS to back up your current CMOS settings: SYMCMOS -Lsettings.txt
    Next load the settings.txt into a text editor. It will begin like this:
    ( SYMBOLIC CMOS EDITOR - Version 643710-035 )
    CRC = 3EDD
    (0000) [0001]
    (0003) [0001]
    Your CRC value may differ. Each line after the CRC contains a token number, followed by the value of that token. You can start with the settings.txt you created and edit any tokens you want to change, or delete all token lines and just include the tokens you want to change. Then use SYMCMOS.EXE to apply the new file: SYMCMOS -V2 -Uupdate.txt
    After running that command you can reset, and hopefully notice the new settings in action. (For certain settings, such as re-enabling the execute-disable bit, you need to turn the computer off then on again.)
    Here are some specific tokens you can change:
    Token Default New Description
    (0000) [0001] [0000] Disable the HD audio controller
    (0042) [0001] [0000] Disable LCD panel graphics scaling/stretching
    (004B) [0000] [0001] Beep before booting the OS
    (0267) [0001] [0000] Enable support for the CPU execute-disable bit
    (028E) [0000] [0001] Enable key click (only works in DOS and BIOS setup)
    (02A3) [0001] Set to 0 for slower memory test, or 2 (or 3?) to skip
    test for faster booting, especially with 4GB RAM
    (046E) [0001] [0000] Disable video BIOS shadowing. (Best to leave enabled.)
    (0471) [0000] [0001] Enable 1MB memory hole at 15MB. (Best leave disabled.)
    (0486) [0001] [0000] Disable PCI Express ports 1-6. This takes precedence
    over the individual port bits below, and disables the
    LAN, WLAN and (probably) ExpressCard port.
    (0489) [0001] [0000] Disable PCI Express port 2 (WLAN card)
    (048C) [0001] [0000] Disable PCI Express port 3 (maybe ExpressCard?)
    (048F) [0001] [0000] Disable PCI Express port 4 (LAN)
    For example, if you want to disable LCD panel scaling and enable the execute-disable bit, you would create a text file like this:
    CRC = 3EDD
    (0042) [0000]
    (0267) [0001]
    Some final points:
    Loading the default settings in the BIOS setup menu will overwrite any changes you make using SYMCMOS.EXE. So keep that bootable disk around in case you need to re-apply your settings in future.
    The token numbers above are specific to version 3.03 of the Lenovo 3000 N200 model 0769 BIOS. They might be different for earlier BIOS versions, and will be different for other models of computer.
    Once you have created a bootable floppy disk with a text file containing your updated settings, you could create a bootable CD with the floppy's data on. Just boot that CD to restore your settings in future.
    Before experimenting with randomly changing token values to discover other hidden settings, make sure you know how to reset your computer's CMOS memory! Changing some settings results in your computer becoming unable to boot, so you can't use the BIOS setup screen to reset. I wrote about how to reset the N200 model 0769 CMOS in this thread.
    If you discover any other settings, please let me know.
    Any changes made are at your own risk; if you "brick" your laptop don't blame me!

  • Enabling system fan control on lenovo s30

    Hi there, i am familiar with the BIOS setup for fan control, except, i do not know how to load a "user profile" vs factory default. Does S30 even support user fan control, my d20 would allow me to select several presets, however, the s30 bios only allows two options one of them being user preset? How do i load this preset (i want the fans running at higher rpm for additional cooling). Any insight is appreciated.

    There are a few differences in the fan control design between 20 series and 30 series.  In 20 series, you're correct that there were a couple of selectable presets available.  For 30 series, we took a different approach where the fan speed control was set to a standard profile for all users.  We did, however, have the ability for our BIOS team to create unique fan tables that would be meant for specific customer environments.  The only way to use one of these custom tables would be to work directly with our BIOS team as each table would need to be manually created.  So custom tables are not supported for general field use.
    We chose that route on 30 series because a very large majority of our customers never changed the default fan settings (the thermals on 20 series were so good they rarely had a reason to do so).
    Is there a specific reason you want to change the fan control, or is this just a tinkering-type question?

  • IStat Pro, SMC fan control and tempuratures

    I've been watching the recent temp. problem threads with great interest.
    My Imac has had no operational flaws *knock wood* but I'm a bit concerned with the temps which iStat Pro is reporting. For instance;
    CPU A 103 F.
    CPU diode 133 F.
    Ambient 79 F.
    Memory Control 112 F.
    HD Bay 1 103 F.
    Optical Drive 94 F.
    WDC WD1600 etc etc, (the hard drive I presume), 99 F.
    Most of these temps seem pretty darned high to me. OR, am I mistaken and they are not out of line?
    Running SMC fan control at about 1/2 way up on all 3 sliders brings these temps down considerably, but I hate to "over rev" the fans and hasten their demise if I don't have to.
    I'll appreciate your thoughts.
    Thanks; Jon

    Your temps seem low to me but i have no data on what is low or too high

  • Fan control and PEACE

    Hello, i recently erased by mistake tow folders from the startup items, fan control daemon and PEACE, i got the folders back but when the mac starts up i get this window telling me that there's a problem with those folders, how can i solve this?

    If the SMC reset does not help, install istat menus:
    http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/
    Run an Apple hardware Test:

    When your MBP gets hot, post results.
    I suspect your MBP has a faulty fan, among other issue(s).
    Ciao.

  • Fan Control and Leopard

    While I am happy with Leopard, it killed my Fan Control - now I face a roasting each time I use my MBP. Anyone know if this little gem will be updated for 10.5? Fan speeds of 1500rpm just don't cut it with a Core Duo.

    Same here. Fan control from preferences quit working. I'd set it and when I open it back up again, it would be reset to 0. Also I don't know how I could get a -14360 rpm reading on both of my fans. Didn't know a fan could generate negative rpms...
    My fix.. get the SMCfan Control and set you minimum speed for your fans... It also will give you the temperature of your computer. Works for now... I'd rather have the fan control feature back...

  • How do I uninstall Fan Control?

    I installed fan control on my MBP w/ Retina and changed my mind on it. I read the other posts but when in the library folder I couldn't find such files. I deleted the support files that I found in my "all documents" folder. I still have the fan control panel in my settings app. Can anyone tell me how to uninstall it completely and if needed reset It to Apples settings. Thanks for your time!

    Use Finder - Go menu - Go to Folder & type in /Library/PreferencePanes   incuding the initial /
    It's normal for the one in your Home folder to be empty.
    >>just ctrl/right click on the item in System Preferences & choose Remove.
    That should also remove it, without needing to use Finder.
