  • Dolby Digital Live - Not Worki

    Hi guys,
I am having a few snags with Dolby Digital Li've. I purchased a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium Fatalty (Championship Gaming Series) in order to convert audio to Dolby Digital Li've and send it to my home cinema amp. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to get it to work
I have enabled Dolby Digital Live in the 'Encoder' tab in the Creatiev Audio Console and I have set SPDIF out as the default in Windows Vista Control Panel. The SPDIF output is listed there as 'working' but when I ask it to do a test an error just comes up 'Failed to play test tone'. Interestingly if I try to play a video or audio in Windows Media Player that crashes - I don't get any sound at all.
Games play but with no sound. Set the default back to the Speakers and all is well.
Anyone know how to solve this Am I missing something obvious
    My system is:
    - Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX6700 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.66GHz (066FSB)
    - Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator DHX PC2-6400C4 TwinX (2xGB)
    - Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2
    - Seagate 600W
    - Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium Fatalty
    - XFX 8800 Ultra Extreme 768MB GDDR3 DVI HDTV Out PCI-E
    Thanks in advance!

Just as an update I now seem to have the system working 'in game' which is exactly what I wanted. Windows still won't play the test tone and Media Play doesn't like it at all - but Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars works as do a few other games I've tried.

  • Dolby Digital Live : Device already in use, how to enable i

    Hello,
I bought Dolby Digital Live yesterday, installed it and activated it on my X-Fi Platinum, but I have a problem. All my drivers are updated, but whenever I try to activate DDL in the Volume Panel or Audio Console, it says that the SPDIF device is already in use.
I tried ending most processes, but the problem is the same, it seems that something is internally using my SPDIF output so that DDL can't be activated. (I'm using Vista Business 32 bits).
It's also impossible to test tones on the SPDIF output as Windows also says it's already in use, that's weird.
Anyone knows how to fix this
    Thanks.

Ok it worked, thank you ^^
This is what I did (complete reinstall of Creative suite was not needed) :
    - Uninstalled Creative X-Fi through Device Manager (right click on it, then Uninstall and Delete driver option), without rebooting
    - Refreshed modifications in Device manager and said "No" to search drivers for multimedia device
    - Installed latest X-Fi drivers without rebooting
    - Activated Dolby Digital Li've with a right click on the Volume Panel tray icon
    - Rebooted?as the sound was only stereo + echo, and now it works perfectly
Concerning DDL, yes, it's only 5., and Creative plans to "give" DTS Connect the same way they did for DDL for old X-Fi.

  • How do I get Dolby digital live or DTS connect to work?

I have the sound blaster Zx sound card and the logitech z906 5.1 surround speaker system. I am connecting to the speakers via optical cable. I figured Dolby digital live and/or DTS would sound great with this set up, only problem when I turn on either of those my speakers go silent. I set Speakers: Soundblaster Z as my default playback device but other than that I am not sure what I need to do to get it to work.
    Bruce

I have the z 906 speakers, not the Z-5500 in your link. The manual I already have says the z906 speakers automatically detect the digital signal. I figured the Sound Blaster card would convert an analog signal to digital since it is going into the speakers through the Optical cable, I guess I was wrong.
I have read the link about digital connections on these forums along with the notice in the cinematic tab in the Sound Blaster control panel. I believe they are both saying that I will not be able to use my music player (windows media player) in conjunction with the Dolby DTS and Dolby Digital Live, is this true?
If so then is the only way to listen to the DTS or digital Live effects is through a DVD or Blu ray disc encoded for either of those effects?
If this is true how do I test my dolby digital outputs to make sure they are working correctly?

  • No SPDIF passthrough when Dolby Digital Live is enabled?

    Hello,
I have SB Audigy 2 ZS and Logitech Z-5500 speakers connected digitally and I am using Win XP SP3.
I bought Dolby Digital Li've Pack and I have a problem with not getting SPDIF Passthrough for DTS audio.
Before I enabled DDL, when I played back content with DTS-encoded audio, audio was passed through SPDIF to the decoder in Logitech speakers and the DTS logo would appear on the display of Z-5500 console. And decoding chain from AC3Filter would look like this:
    Decoding chain:
    (DTS - 48000) -> Spdifer -> (SPDIF 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Dejitter -> (SPDIF 3/2. (5.) 48000)
And there is also information: "SPDIF status: SPDIF passthrough"
This is straightforward - DTS audio stream goes to SPDIF output.
Of course this would only work if I chose SPDIF Passthrough option in Decoder tab of Audio console.
But after I enabled Dolby Digital Li've and played back DTS stream, the DTS logo would no longer appear on the console, which meant that the SPDIF passthrough was not working, despite the fact that it was still enabled in the drivers. For contrast, the Decoding chain for DTS after I turned on DDL looks like this:
    (DTS - 48000) -> Decoder -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Processor -> (PCM24 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Dejitter -> (PCM24 3/2. (5.) 48000)
And there is info: "SPDIF status: Disabled (SPDIF output is not supported)" and info of what is happening under the "processor" stage
    Processor:
    (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Input levels -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Equalizer -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> SRC -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Mixer -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Bass redirection -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Dither -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> AGC -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Delay -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Spectrum -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Output levels -> (Linear PCM 3/2. (5.) 48000) -> Linear->PCM converter -> (PCM24 3/2. (5.) 48000)
Much, much more steps along the way, which probably means inferior quality and also is in disregard of the SPDIF Passthrough that I had enabled.
Same thing happens when you play "nati've" Dolby Digital stream - instead of being passed through SPDIF to external decoder it is somehow "hijacked" by Dolby Digital Li've and needlessly tampered with.
My question is - how can this be disabled. I understand benefits of Dolby Digital Li've (that's why I bought it) but they stop being benefits when they interfere with legitimate DTS audio which should not be "down-decoded" into Dolby Digita - it should be passed through to the Decoder.
Not to mention that DTS Connect is not supported in Windows XP. "Real" digital DD and DTS streams should? be passed through untoched, and ony converted audio (mp3s, games, etc) should be decoded into DD. Otherwise there's degradation of quality.
The only "benefit" I noticed is that DDL is enabled, the sound is noticably louder, but for increasing loudness I have my volume knob on Z-5500 so I dont need it.
Does that mean that every time I want to listen something nati'vely encoded in DTS od DD I should disable Dolby Digital Li've? I hope there is some other solution to this.

Creative just admitted it is a bug - this is information from the "what was fixed" in the latest version of Creative Console Launcher:
"Unable to select the external decoder option automatically while Dolby Digital Li've or DTS Connect is enabled in the encoder settings."
Will this ever be fixed for Audigy software?

  • ATV3 - I need to enable dolby digital for optical surround sound (netflix and home movies), but when I do this it stops audio coming through TV speakers

I have a cinema sound receiver connected to Apple TV via optical cable.  When I have dolby digital set to Auto it doesn't come through as dolby digital when watching movies on netflix and iTunes (home movies).
If I set Dolby Digital to ON it works as expected, but the sound stops working through normal TV speakers (via HDMI).  This is the same for netflix and home movies.
I tried 16 bit setting, but it made no difference.
Any advice on how I can get this working - meaning Dolby Digital always on for when I turn my surround sound on and sound through speakers for normal operation?
Obviously I can change the setting when needed, its just a pain.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello everyone,
here is the friendly and signed driver installation method to enable Dolby Digital Plus in your Encore internal speakers only. This is not an official driver, there is no control panel for Dolby Digital Plus or various sound effects, but tested and has much better and richer surround sound quality as before with factory driver. I guess, this driver tweak can work with any Bay Trail tablet also.
How can you upgrade Encore sound drivers:
    1. Download signed driver package and extract.
    2. Open Device Manager.
    3. Upgrade your Sound, Video and game controllers
    - Intel SST Audio Device
    - Realtek I2S Audio Codec
one by one with "Have a disk" method.
    4. Double click enabledolby.reg file and add to your registry.
    5. Restart, and enjoy better sound quality.
    Thanks.

  • Dolby Digital Live on Mac Pro?

Is it possible to use Dolby Digital Live on a Mac Pro (2011), OS X Lion?  If so, how?
Does OS X Lion support 3rd party audio cards, like Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D Pro?

Seems like Dolby Digital Live with 5.1 is not supported under mac.. bummer

  • BF3 poor audio quality with Dolby Digital Live anabled.

Hello, i have a X-Fi Fatality card connected to audio receiver with the Toslink cable with the Dolby Digital Live enabled, and in BF3 i hear that bullets sounds more like popcorn crack very low quality, with BF2 the audio was awesome. Anyone else having the same problem?

There are several Fatality cards - which one do you have? OS is Win7 i guess? So which driver are you using? Did you try Danial_Ks Support Pack? • Dolby Digital Live

Currently there are very few solutions for those of us that want true digital surround audio in our games. It's sad to say but the best in gaming audio usually comes from console systems because they are typically hooked up to home entertainment systems with spdif digital outs. So just like when you listen to a movie in Dolby Digital 5.1, you get great sound.
Now in the PC world, most games either don't support Dolby, or use some other forms of analog surround.
Dolby came up with a solution, which more games are starting to support. They call it Dolby Digital Live, it's basically a way for computer gamers to get true digital surround audio via a spdif output. The catch is, you have to have a sound card or motherboard which includes Dolby Digital Live.
From the research I've done, it seems the Mac Pros include what Intel calls their High Definition Audio solution, which on most chipsets is also known to include Dolby Digital Live, in this case the ACL880 chipset provided by Realtek should contain DDL.
My question is for those with their Mac Pros, spdif speakers, and XP installed. As mine is still on order, I'd like to find out if this is working. You would need to have a set of 5.1 speakers attached via the optical out of the Pro, and using the correct Realtek drivers under XP, run a game tagged with the Dolby Digital logo, such as Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.
So basically if it works, you should be getting 5.1 surround and some really nice audio.

    Hello Zacabeb,
I understand you are wondering if you can use the Dolby Digital Live on your HP Pavilion 500-205eo Desktop PC. According to the HP Pavilion 500-205eo Desktop PC Product Specifications your audio is the Integrated IDT 92HD73E Audio. I am providing you with the 92HD73E Datasheet, which on page 2 lists Dolby Digital Live™ (DDL) as supported. This being said to enable the Dolby Digital Live in Windows 8.1 I would advise you to ensure you that have downloaded and installed the IDT High Definition Audio Driver.
Please re-post if you require additional support. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Does MSI 990FXA-GD80 support Dolby Digital Live?

I need to output DD5.1 to a Turtle Beach Earforce DSS decoder. It know that some realtek-equipped motherboards can encode to DD Live do this but I don't have the option for DD Live in the Realtek Sound Manager under Supported Formats, nor in Windows sound properties under Advanced, although under Supported Formats it does show Dolby Digital (not Live) ticked.
So is it possible to do this or will I need to buy another soundcard?

    Hello,
I purchased a mini to TOSLINK optical cable to connect my GT70 0NC to my Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speaker system and I was wondering if the ALC892 supports Dolby Digital Live. I'm able to get DTS and Dolby Digital to work just fine, but I don't see an option to change the default format of the digital output in the Realtek HD Audio Manager to Dolby Digital Live. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with the latest audio drivers available.
    Thanks
    I hate saying this.
Do yourself a favor, go buy an Asus Xonar U3, plug it in, and you will be much happier.
I have a Z680 (precursor to the Z5500, pretty much the same thing though), and I couldn't stand how bad the Realtek HD performed. The Asus Xonar does a much better job. You hook it up, set it to output to the 'speakers', but have your TOSLINK cable connected, and you get upconverted dolby digital live sound output. Couldn't ask for anything better. The U3 only runs about $40, so it's not a huge investment.

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic + Win7 64bit + Dolby Digital Live?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and X-Fi XtremeMusic. I was wondering if it is possible to enable Dolby Digital Li've on my setup? I have the digital I/O module and use an optical cable to connect the PC to my receiver.
I found this but I don't know if it works on Windows 7...
Dolby Digital Li've and DTS Connect Pack

    I know that much.
I purchased the encoder pack so that I could have multichannel audio in games. It works fine. However, where can I download the latest version of the encoder pack. At the end of the purchase I was able to download version 2.00.00, but I think there should be newer version as I've stumbled on people using version 2.00.08 (I think) on different forums.
Also, you could have a LARGE note somewhere that the encoder pack is REQUIRED for multichannel audio in games if using the digital (coax/optical) output to an external receiver. Only thing that is listed is that multichannel PASSTHROUGH audio is supported on the digital output, but that doesn't apply to games. I would have purchased the encoder pack long ago if I had known that it is required. I've been wondering for the past year why I don't have proper multichannel in games, but have been unable to figure out why. I happened to stumble on the solution by mistake during last weekend while researching another problem.

  • Any Dolby Digital Live/DTS Connect support?

I'm just wondering if there were any products (USB/Firewire preferred, but PCI also) that support Dolby Digital Live and/or DTS Connect? Specifically, a product that will output bitstream AC3 or DTS to a home theater receiver via SPDIF?
(and I don't mean simply passing thru a DVD's AC3 or DTS, I mean outputting all system sound via transcoding to AC3/DTS bitstreams)
I've got a bgears b-enspirer for a PC, but I'd rather use a Mac for home theater and possibly World of Warcraft..

    Hi Mathew
I have a Griffin FireWave. These are no longer made but may still be available if you search. It is a firewire device which give you 6 (5.1) channels of audio output. The outputs are direct speaker connections (L/R C/S LS/RS), so you need to be sure your home theatre system accepts these. It does NOT have optical outputs to a home theatre system and I think it's unlikely that you'll even find something which does.
The FireWave is a great device. It allows me to choose 5.1 audio output in Audio Midi Setup. It can then be driven in 5.1 mode by suitably written applications, and it also gives me full surround sound when I play a DVD.
I have seen some similar USB devices, but none of them claim to be Mac compatible - which seems rather odd to me!

    Hi,
I am afraid the DDL is only for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
What 3d options are you referring to?
You might want to refer to the product page for details.
