How to Enable Dual Channel?

Hi,
I have an MSI K8N Neo Plat, with a Newcastle 3200+ cpu, and two sticks of Kingstone DDR-SDRAM PC3500 - 256Mb.
Anyway, according to CPU-Z the memory is running in single channel mode...
Is there any way to get it to run dual channel?
I've tried it in slots 1&2, 1&3 and 2&3, but all report single channel.
The CPU and board are not overclocked in any way, and it is running stable and has no other issues (aside from the incorrectly reported CPU temperature).
Thanks for you help...

Ok, I'm probably just getting DDR and Dual Channel mixed up
So, on bootup it reports...
DDR400 Memory Clock : 200Mhz
TCL:2 Trcd:3 Tras:8 Trp:3 (1T Timing)
Which is what should be expected for this kind of ram on this board?
(I know 1T and TCL:2 are both good values, I presume the DDR memory clock at 200 gives a 400Mhz throughput?)
Also If I were to add a 512Mb stick into this would it still run at DDR400?
Thanks....

  • A85XA-G65 can't find option to enable dual channel memory mode

    Hi,
    My system is new build.
    Specs:
    MSI A85XA-G65
AMD A10-5800K Black Edition 3.80GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity
    Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Corsair Force GT 120GB (system drive)
    PSU OCZ ZT 550W
    Win 7 64-bit
Problem: UEFI showing 8Gb memory but only 4Gb physical memory showing when SiSandra used and in Windows.
I can't find the option to enable dual channel memory mode. Slots populated are DIMM1 and DIMM3. When DIMM 2 and 4 are populated it will not boot (no dsiplay). I can easily switch between DIMM 1 and 3 in control centre for UEFI but I am unable to switch to dual channel mode no matter what i try.
    Any ideas?

For dual channel to work DIMM 2 & 4 must be populated. It won't work with 1 & 3.  Try with one stick and set timings and speed according to the sticks' specifiactions in the oc section of your bios then retry with dimm 2 & 4. If no help try slower timings like 10-10-10-28-2T

  • G505s: Adobe Flash Games Running Laggy & How to Enable Dual Mode?

I keep hearing about how the G505s has a dual graphics mode.
What confuses me is that when I am playing some adobe flash games online, I am noticing considerable lag, while some Win8 App games and MMOs run perfectly fine along with having quality graphics, there is no lag.
Why would certain flash games online, (I can give you the links, if you would like), gives noticeable lag while other high end MMO games run ok?
Also, I'm confused on how to access/enable dual graphics mode. What I am thinking is that my computer is using the basic video card, and I would like to switch to the advanced/2nd video card.
Is there a fix for this, or is it normal for some games to lag on the G505s?

    hi
This Settings I found on Microsoft Site.
Click Start, and then click Internet Explorer.
Click the Tools icon in the upper-right corner, and then click Internet Options.
Click the Advanced tab, and then under Accelerated graphics, select the Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering check box.
Try this and see if that works,
The Drivers from Lenovo Site I think has not yet been updated,  you can still update the two GPU device through the AMD Site. While the Lenovo site gets updated.
Let me know what happened with the steps below,
    Best regards
    Cheers!

  • How to connect dual channel ram on a msi 865pe neo-2 plat.edition ?

    hi....
can any one tell me how to connect the RAM as dual channel on the MSI 865PE Neo-2 p Platinum Edition ?
i did like what is written in the manual but nothing happened it only works as a single channel....
    the RAm is 2x512 spectek DDR400 PC3200....
    pls help me.............

    Franknputer is right.
All systems that I build for my gamers runs in Dual Channel and the combo is 1 + 3 or 2 + 4 or 1 + 2 + 3 + 4. 1 x RAM in Channel A and 1 x RAM in Channel B minimum will give your Dual Channel Linear Mode message during startup and you know that you are running Dual Channel.
Next, it is always recommended to have the same make and model and capacity of the RAMs if you want to run in Dual Channel.

  • W530 dual channel

I upgraded RAM on my W530 and it's working only in single channel mode. How to enable dual channel in BIOS?
Here is screenshot about my RAM

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I did some testing earlier this year and did a short write-up and decided that the advantages of dual-channel, frequency and cas latency were more theoretical than practical. I was using a laptop with 2 slots, so it isn't quite the same, but it was an i7 Ivy Bridge CPU, so there should be more similarities than differences. This is what I wrote:
Probably more often than once a week, I see or hear a question regarding advantages of buying faster memory or using matched pairs of DIMMs. Obviously, using memory that is rated faster than the bus speed yields no improvement, and I always believed that advantages of "matched pairs" was more theoretical than actual. For no good reason, I decided to run a semi-scientific test. I have a T430s machine here, which will run at DDR3-1600 or DDR3-1333 mHz, depending on the memory installed. I also have 2 matched pairs of 8GB DIMMs. One pair is Corsair Value memory (DDR3-1333 CL-9) and the other pair is Corsair Vengeance, their "better" memory (DDR3-1600 CL-10). My idea was to test the memory 3 ways: 2 faster DIMMs, 2 slower DIMMs and mixing one of each type. My expectation was that the fast memory would run at 1600 bus dual-channel; the slow memory would run at 1333 bus speed dual-channel, and the mixed configuration would run at 1333 bus speed, but not use dual channel operation and be the slowest. First, I ran the windows7 "windows experience test". The faster memory gave a "memory operations per second" score of 7.6, while the slower memory gave a score of 7.5. The mixed option was the same as the slower memory.
I then ran Memtest86+. (the free memory tester I use) First, it became obvious why the mixed set ran as fast as the matched pair of slower memory. The mixed set was using dual-channel operation. I now assume that "matched pair" really means any 2 of the same size. When I ran the full memory test, the faster memory took 1:20:45. The slower memory took 1:21:55. I ran one more test to look at single-channel vs dual-channel operation. I ran just one of the faster DIMMs. If it were running at the same speed, the test would have taken half the time taken by the pair, or 40:23. It actually took 41:52, and the windows experience score fell from 7.6 to 7.2. I was going to complete the test by running 2 4GB DIMMs, but the only PC3-1600 4GB DIMMs I had were the ones that Lenovo includes with systems, and it is slightly slower that the DDR3-1600 memory I used (CL-11 VS. CL10).
It seems clear to me that one would never be able to notice any difference in any real application, but there was a measurable difference that would allow someone to win a "mine is bigger than yours" contest

  • 770-C45 Dual channel slots?

OK, I read the manual and it doesn't make it very clear, do I put the 2 dimms in slots one and two, or one and three for dual channel? Or in other words should I put the dimms in the same colour slots? Thanks

I think the problem is MSI can't decide how to show things.
    Either they can
    - let the colours of the slots show (memory bus to the processor) channels
    or
    - have the colours show how to enable Dual Channel.
Until MSI has decided that, they can not make a good manual.
Another option is to have one and the same colour for all slots, and have a nice description in the manual*) and some guidance on the motherboard how to enable Dual Channel.
*) Have a strong feeling MSI does not like to write too much new in each manual... Copy and paste from the last one saves their linguistic skills for another day.

  • [Other 865 Series] MSI 865PE Neo2-V and Dual Channel Mode Question

Hello, I have a quick question regarding dual channel mode with my current motherboard. I have an MSI 865PE Neo2-V and am wondering if it is possible to enable dual channel mode while having three RAM modules inserted in the motherboard.
For example, I currently have one 512MB PC3200 module in my computer. If I purchase another 512MB module and run them in dual channel mode, will it be possible to buy a 1GB module or another size module, and still have all three slots run in dual channel mode? Or is dual channel only operational on this motherboard if only two of the three slots are occupied?
    Thanks.

Dual channel requires an even number of sticks.

  • Pc won't run in dual channel mode

Hi.I have an msi P6N SLI motherboard which supports dual channel ram configurations.I first purchased four 1gb ddr2 pc 800 ram modules and the pc wouldn't boot so i have 2 1gb and 1 2g modules which work fine. When i remove the 2gb module and the 1gb modules are in either slots 1 and 3 or slots 2 and 4(dual channel) ,the pc wont boot. When in slots 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 it works fine again.
Is there some setting i must change in the bios to enable dual channel mode.Ive looked but can't seem to find anything and the manual doesn't say anything about changing settings.
     I would appreciate any help.thanks

the two 1 gb must be in slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 and the 2gb can be in any empty slot. then it should boot. why just do not get yourself 2 x 2gb ddr2 800. due to memory controller limitation 2x2gb is the best option for using window 32bits. and finally there is nothing in bios which can solve your prob. good luck

  • Need help with Dual Channel DDR memory

Hi, I have a msi nvidia MOBO, K7N2G and it supports dual channel memory. The manual says to put one in 1 and one in 3. I did then it wont start. System gives the old beep.........beep.........beep. I have to patriot 512 ddr sticks. They work fine in slot 1 and 2 but not in "dual channel" mode. Do i have to do anything else in order to get these to work?? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    hi
    try slot 2&3.
    what brand of memory?
what speed is the memory working in?
there is no option to disable or enable dual channel.
just put them in slot 1&3 or 2&3.

  • MSI GT72 memory upgrade/dual channel question

I just recently purchased a GT72 2QD laptop which has 12GB of ram installed (with 1x4GB module and 1x8GB module). The RAM is shown as running in dual channel, but it is asynchronous and I'm getting inconsistent memory bandwidth results when testing bandwidth with AIDA64. My question is, would I be able to buy an additional 4GB and 8GB module (I'm looking at the Kingston value ram), put them in the two free RAM slots inside the chasis and run the RAM in synchronous dual channel mode? If so, which slots should I put each module in to get the ram to run in proper dual channel mode? I would appreciate any help y'all can give me.

hope this information will help you...

    quoted from Intel website above:
    Rules to enable dual-channel mode
To achieve dual-channel mode, the following conditions must be met:
Same memory size. Examples: 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB.
Matched DIMM configuration in each channel
    Matched in symmetrical memory slots
Configurations that do not match the above conditions revert to single-channel mode. The following conditions do not need to be met:
    Same brand
    Same timing specifications
    Same speed (MHz)
The slowest DIMM module populated in the system decides memory channel speed.

  • How do I tell if dual channel is enabled?

I installed my memory in slots 1 & 3 (Corsair PC3200 TwinX) and every thing works just fine. But how do I know the systems is running in dual channel mode?

I get "Dual Channel Liner Mode" during start up. What is "Liner Mode" and is it something that can be changed?
    Oh....
When I booted for the first time it said: ''Virtual Dual Channel or Single Channel''. Then I booted for the second time and it said ''Dual Channel''.
Maybe you should try to insert the DIMM's in memory slot's 2 and 4?

  • How to enable Channel 13 on WET54g

I am using it in Europe and need to enable channel 13 so I can connect to a network on this channel.  I vaguely remember being told this was done by accessing a hidden setup page.  Can anyone tell me how to enable channel 13 on a WET54g V3.1?

    >> Generally, devices bought in the U.S. can only be used in the U.S.
This seems to me like poor and outdated policy. It reminds of times when you could not take a laptop to Europe because the power supply was only for 110 V.  Most manufacturers have moved to simplifying things for the customer and for themselves by making models more universal.
    >> Flashing other firmware may brick the device. You can never rule that out.
    >> Flashing European firmware should not cause problems.
    >> Possibly it won't accept it but usually hardware versions between countries are identical.
You say it should "not cause problems" but "may brick the device". I would consider a bricking the device to be a "problem".  I guess I can interpret it to mean that damage is unlikely but possible.  It gives me pause as I do not want to risk bricking it.
The device label says it is WET54g V 3.1  At the US site http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/bridges/WET54G the choice for hardware version only goes up to V 3.0. Puzzling.
At the European site http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-eu/support/bridges/WET54G/download I found support for version 3.1. Interesting and puzzling since my 3.1 is American.
There, in the EU site, I found a file named WET54Gv3_1_v2d16.zip which contains two files:
    - wet54gv3_v2d16_us_20091027.img
    - wet54gv3_v2d16_ce_20091027.img
There is no explanation in the release notes of which one to use. The names differ only in two characters: us/ce.  I would assume "us" is for USA but what would "ce" be? I was expecting something like "uk" or "eu".  I am guessing the ce version is for Europe but I want to be sure before I start messing.  I have never flashed anything and I have no idea of the degree of risk involved.
You can reload it with this firmware wet54gv3_v2d16_ce_20091027.img.

  • I have Two Monitors how do i enable dual display

I have two monitors hooked up to my G4 and they are displaying the same thing how do i enable dual display where i can pan between them? Thanks for your help I am using Os 10.3.9

    Hi
I'm fairly certain your graphics card doesn't support it. As far as I'm aware, Apple only introduced Macs with stock graphics cards capable of supporting dual displays (spanned) when they released the QuickSilver model. The cards in earlier G4s (Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Audio) had multiple connectors so you could connect either an Apple ADC display or third party VGA display, but I believe they only mirror each other.
If you needed to support two independent displays at the time, I guess you went for one of the built to order graphics card options, or bought a second (PCI) graphics card.
