How to enable Find my iPhone using non-primary iCloud account in iOS 7?

Our business relied on this functionality to track our iPhones and iPads.  We had a separate MDM service so we can remotely manage/wipe devices, but finding the location is important to us.
There are lots of articles on the Internet on how to set this up on iOS 6, how useful it is for businesses (and families), etc.  Why would Apple change this functionality?  They can still "protect" the feature by requiring a password to turn it off for the account, just like they do with the primary/main iCloud account.
Help!

Interesting. I haven't updated yet but I'd like to follow your progress on this issue.
If an answer isn't found by the end of the day, I will do my own iOS7 update and do my own research. Good luck.

  • How do I archive IMAP messages with non Gmail/iCloud account on iOS Mail.app?

This may seem like a simple question, however I don't seem to be able to work this one out for myself. I hope you guys/girls can help!
I have my IMAP email account setup on my iPhone (own domain name, DBmail IMAP mail server running on VPS). Email works great; I can send/receive, delete, move messages no problem.
When I used MobileMe, Gmail or iCloud, I was given the option to "Archive mail" in the account configuration for that mail account in Settings.app. However, with a simple IMAP account, even though I have an "Archive" folder in my IMAP mailbox, which shows up with a suitable 'Archive-like' icon in Mail.app on my iPhone, I am not given the option to "Archive mail" - i.e. move a message from 'Inbox' to 'Archive' by touching the Archive button - Instead, I just get the delete button, which just moves messages to my 'Trash' folder in my mailbox.
Up to now, I've just put this down to Mail.app on iOS lacking this functionality. After upgrading to iOS 6 this morning (which I hoped would bring this functionality) I'm starting to question whether there's a setting or a workaround that I've missed that provides this functionality. I'm not sure I understand why Mail.app on my MAC allows me to Archive mail for my simple IMAP account, but my iOS devices won't.
Does anyone know of a way to get a simple IMAP account setup in Mail.app on iOS to 'Archive' mail, as opposed to delete? Please chime in if you have any suggestions.
    Joe

I know this is old but it's google #1 for the relevant search and it took me a while
Settings -> mail, contacts, calendars -> pick the imap account -> advanced
    Move discarded emails to:
    Pick the 'archive' option
I have no idea why, must be apple logic, but with delete being the default that's all you can do, when archive is the selection it replaces the deleted button but you can hold it down to get a delete/trash option also.

Ok! So there's no way around it then? My friend has an iPhone 4 that she got used and the 3 available account have been used up. I understand how that works but was wondering if there was a way around that so she could still use the find my iPhone app to locate the phone if needed. Thxs

  • We have 3, soon to be 4 iphones under one contract.  How do we separate our iphones to have separate icloud accounts without losing information already stored?

We have 3, soon to be 4 iphones under one contract.  How do we separate our iphones to have separate icloud accounts without losing information already stored?

One of them can keep the current account.  Since the iCloud email account must stay with the current account, whoever uses it for email might be the best one to keep it.  You can then migrate the other phones to separate accounts, along with a copy of the data.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create the new account and choose Merge to upload the data.
Once all the phones are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete each other's data from your accounts.

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • How to back up multiple iphones/ipads with different icloud accounts but same apple id

I would like to back up 3 idevices each with different icloud accounts to itunes. But they use the same apple id so that itune purchases can be installed on each device (2 iphones and 1 ipad).
All I want to do is create a backup in case the phones need to be restored. I also want to back up before downloading iOS 8.
The Macbook Pro that I will back up to has one user and one itunes library.
Is this possible without mixing up address books and contacts etc? Appreciate if some one could direct me to detail step-by-step instructions if they exist or please tell me how I can do this.
    Thanks.

With Family Sharing they don't need to have the same Apple ID anymore.
But backups to iTunes are kept separate among multiple devices; Apple ID and iCloud isn't involved at all. Just make sure the devices do not have the same name.

  • How can I keep notes when using a new icloud account?

    Hello
I want to use one apple id for purchases and another apple id with my icloud account! when I delete the actual icloud account it deletes the notes and the photo stream. How can I do to keep my notes with my new apple id? I have hundreds of notes!
    Help me please
    Thanks

1)Only way to transfer your Notes is to copy and paste manually. (Do it on your desktop browser at www.icloud.com, its much easier)
2)Another way is to keep the iCloud account that contains your notes as a secondary iCloud account.
Do you share the Apple ID that you wanna use for purchases with another person? Is so the first way is your only option

  • How do I remove my iPhone 4S from my iCloud account?

I upgraded to an iPhone 6. I successfully registered it. I successfully erased all contents from my 4S. But my 4S still shows on my profile at iCloud.com. I went to my provider and my local Apple store but neither one could figure out how to remove it. There is no trace of it in my profile on my provider account. Seems like I should just be able to go to my iCloud account and delete it?

If you didn't sign out before erasing it, it still shows on iCloud.com.  (I know, erasing it should have removed it but many people have found that it didn't.)  If you still have the old phone, you can set it up again (just set it up as a new device), sign back into your account, then sign out and it should be removed.  If you don't have it, all you can do is call Apple support and see if they can remove it for you.

  • Is there a way to not allow an employee to send texts on the business iPhone using their personal iCloud account?

I work for a company that issues business iPhones to our sales representatives so that they can easily communicate with our customers in their territories and have access to many helpful resources.
One of our sales reps recently went on to work for a different company (our competition). When we were getting his company phone ready for the next representative that would take over his territory, we discovered that he had been using his iCloud account to text customers for the past 2-3 months instead of the phones number. Unfortunately this means he still has access to all of our customers via his personal iCloud account, and they are probably still texting him for their product needs.
We aren't sure if this was intentional or not, but is there anything we can do to keep things like this from happening in the future? A way to keep the sales rep from using their personal iCloud address to send and receive texts on the company phones?
    Thanks!

  • How do I change my primary iCloud account in iOS 7?

I had switched my iCloud account to a different user during the beta not wanting to corrupt my iCloud data.  Now that iOS is released I want it to sync with the account I use for my other computers.
Turned Find my iPhone off but can't seem to find the setting to reset iCloud.  Before I do a hard reset and restore of my phone, I thought I would ask.

You have to go into settings, iCloud, delete the account.  Then sign back in with the alternate login id and password.
