How to enable local sharing in iphone

How can I enable local sharing in iPhone 4S?

Hi Matt, I need to send IPA files downloaded on my iPhone to my iPod, I don't use iTunes and I was told that it's possible to send files wirelessly via local sharing.

  • How to enable resource sharing with complex AEBS setup

I have a complex AEBS + Netgear network configuration that I am trying to enable resource sharing on. The Netgear router is necessary because it provides excellent per-user parental controls and content filtering that the AEBS lacks. The setup is operational (network connectivity works as expected), but I cannot figure out how to enable cross-network resource visibility and sharing.
    Here is the network configuration:
    |Vz Fios PPoEE |
    |
    v
    |___
    |AEBS|
    | __Mac Mini (wireless)
    | __AppleTV (wireless)
    | __Wii (wireless)
    | __MBPC2Duo (wireless)
    | __WinXp PC1 (wired)
    |
    v
    |______
    |Netgear|
    | __WinXP PC2/Printer (wired)
    | __WinXp PC3 (wired)
    | __iBook (wireless)
    | __Vista Laptop1 (wireless)
    | __Vista Laptop2 (wireless)
The Mini, AppleTV, Wii and MBPC2Duo all connect wirelessly with the AEBS. The Netgear router is wired to the AEBS. This in turn has 2 wired clients and three wireless clients as illustrated.
The Netgear router receives an IP address assignment from the AEBS (in the 10.0.1.x range) via DHCP and in turn assigns IP addresses (in the 192.168.1.x range) to attached clients via DHCP
The setup is operational and operates flawlessly --network-wise. However, I now need to enable resource sharing as follows:
    1) Setup the Mini as the media hub, configured to allow:
    a. storage of all iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie and garage band content to an attached external hard drive,
    b. sharing of content on the Mini with iTunes on each computer (Macs and Pcs) and the AppleTV
    2) Share the printer attached to Windows XP PC2 with all computers (Macs and PCs)
    Questions:
    1. Is this possible with this network configuration?
    2. If so, how would I configure the relevant elements?
    3. Is it better to attach the external media storage to the AEBS vs attaching it to the Mini?
    Thanks!

Thanks Tesserax. After some digging I was able to find bridge mode config instructions for the Netgear router.
    Follow-up question:
Given my desire to centralize media access via the Mac Mini, what is the best way to set up my media storage device (320G HD)?
    I see the following options:
    A. NAS device via USB 2.0 connection to the AEBS, or
    B. Supplemental hard drive on the Mac Mini via USB 2.0 or Firewire.
    Thoughts/suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • How to enable permission to delete iPhone photos from my computer

I have an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3. I use a PC. I like to pull pictures of my kids off of my phone and save them on my computer in different files. I plug my phone in via USB, open the folder with the pictures and transfer photo files where I want them to be. Once I've moved it, I right click to delete the original photo in my iPhone folder to remove it from my phone. This is how I've done it for years. Since I've upgraded to the new iOS 8.3, my computer tells me I don't have permission to delete these files out of my iPhone folder. I'm very frustrated and can't find any solutions, and I can't figure out if this is a phone setting or computer setting. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, that is always an option, but not what my issue is. For speed and efficiency of what I'm doing on my computer, I want to be able to delete them as I always have been able to do before iOS 8.3. I'm sure there's a setting somewhere, I just can't find it.
Your issue is, that you updated to iOS 8.3, and that does not allow deleting photos from the iPhone like before.
Even a Mac can no longer delete the photos from the iPhone after the iOS 8.3 update, if iCloud Photo Library has been enabled on the iPhone in the Settings > Photo & Camera. Then you have to delete the Photos in the Photos application to delete them from iCloud.

  • How to enable as hard drive iPhone 4

Thats it. Please help me out.

I miss this feature. Is still supported for my 30Gb black iPod video and even my 1GB iPod Shuffle but not my 32GB iPhone. I considered some wifi/disk mode type apps and settled on Dropbox (sign up and get extra space at tinyurl.com/adropbox). It is like using your iPhone as an xhdd but with some added features:
1). You don't have to connect or enter in a url, the folder is always there.
2). Doesn't use iPhone space, it adds up to 10Gb (with a lot of work) to your phone for free.
3). All files are available online with revision control.
4). Files stored in cloud, but favorite files can stay on phone for offline use.
You might also check out MobileMe for an extra 20GB but that isn't free. I also like the idea behind iSMEStorage for the iPhone. Just bought it last night and am working on a way to use the email-as-cloud. I have a server and can make an email account as big as I want. If I can use that as cloud storage it would be ideal. Hope this helps.

  • How to enable contact photos on iPhone 6 Plus?

    Hey folks!
You know how when you go to the Phone app > Favourites and see photos next to your favourited contacts? Okay, now how do I get these photos appear next to every contact I have when I go to the Phone app > Contacts? Or is that just not possible and exclusively limited to Favourites?

    Hmm...thanks, that's what I thought.
I had my grandma asking me this because she can define contacts easily by their photos, but she doesn't read too well.

  • How to activate family sharing on iphone4 (ios7)

We have multiple devices an our son uses an iphone4 running ios7. He got an email with familiy sharing invitation, but he can't take part.
Itunes is running under windows 7.
The question is how to enable family sharing on older devices running older versions of ios (ipod4 and iphone4).

See Leave Family Sharing - Apple Support.
Unless you meant Home Sharing, in which case enable the menu bar with Ctrl+B if needed, then use File > Home Sharing > Turn Off Home Sharing.

  • HT4191 iPhone Local Storage "My iPhone" - How do you create this folder for use by the Notes app on a iPhone or iPad?  If I want to keep some notes only on my device and not in a cloud environment associated with an e-mail account.

iPhone Local Storage "My iPhone" - How do you create this folder for use by the Notes app on a iPhone or iPad?  If I want to keep some notes only on my device and not in a cloud environment associated with an e-mail account.  I've seen reference to the  "My iPhone" local storage put no mention on how you create this folder or access this folder within the Notes app.  I realize storing information in a local storage like this provides no syncing between other iDevices but that is exactly what I'm looking for.  I'm running iOS7.0.4 on a iPhone 5S, and a iPad Air.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to Settings > Notes > Default Account you will see "On My iPhone" as the default account and the only choice if you have not enabled syncing Notes in Settings >iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. If you have enabled syncing you can still select "On My iPhone" as the default account. When you are in the Notes app you won't see any accounts listed if you have not enabled syncing because they are all in the On My iPhone account and that is the only place possible. It is not a folder that you create.
