How to enable smart dial in N8

The Nokia N8 is supposed to have a smart dial function but I am not able to enable it. Can anyone point me to the correct instructions to do so?
Thanks a lot in advance.
PS. I am in Malaysia and could it be the function is only enabled for certain regions?
Current Phone: NOKIA N8 (Best phone ever)

Smart dialing was one of the eagerly awaited features for me! I was a bit angered to find smart dialing missing in my N8. Since it was not available in my N86 as well but available in bugget/entry lever samsung phones!!!
As as anternative you can use Youlu address book for symbian which has a *VERY* fast smart dialing option and very fast threaded (conversation) chat interface too. I have been using it for very long in my N86 and works great.
It has added voice record feature and contracts/SMS cloud sync feature. It's has nice feature too. And the good thing  is that every option that is not needed can be disabled

  • Smart dialing option bug

    Hello!
    Smart dialing option is wrong for my country Ukraine (+380). With this option i can't send SMS for numbers like +380xxyyyyyyy. How to disable smart dialing at all? After a few hours of playing with this option (i set country USA +1, city code 380 and number 9 digits) i can send SMS for the numbers which starts 0xx but not +380xx. Inside my country  numeration starts from 0 then 2 digit code and 7 digit number, example 0-63-1234567. And Contact name does not displayed if contacts number saved without country code +380. Running on Z10 STL100-4 with firmware 10.2.1.1925

    Here is info about dialing plan in Ukraine:
    The international dialing code of Ukraine - 380
    Ukrainian mobile operators use a private numbering plan that is the same length all fixed telephone numbers in the country.
    In international format phone numbers are 12 digits long
    +380 Yy xxxxxxx to call to Ukraine from abroad , where:
        + - Way to an international call prefix ;
        380 - the dial code of Ukraine ;
        yy - two-digit area code or mobile operator ;
        xxxxxxx - seven-digit phone number.
    This dialing method is used for calls to Ukraine from outside the country .
    The national format ( for calls within the country) phones have a length of 10 digits . Instead of 380 ( an international call prefix and the international code of Ukraine) 0 typed ( code for long-distance communication or inter-operator communication) , two-digit number or a mobile operator in the region , the seven-digit phone number.
    0yyxxxxxxx to call on Ukraine, where:
        0 - way out on the long-distance line or to another operator within the country;
        yy - two-digit area code or mobile operator ;
        xxxxxxx - seven-digit phone number.
    This dialing method is used for calls within the country.
    For mobile communication codes issued in the general stream , there is no dedicated range for non-geographic zones.
    To call from Ukraine to other countries should be typed
    00 code_country kod_regiona nomer_abonenta calls from Ukraine abroad , where:
        00 - way to an international call prefix ( from mobile phones dialed +);
        code_country - dialing code of the destination country ;
        kod_regiona - dialing code of the region of interest ;
        nomer_abonenta - the phone number you want to call .
    The transition from the old set of rules ( at 8 and 8-10) to the new ( at 0 and 00) was carried out in the night from 13 to 14 October 2009 in accordance with the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine .

  • How to CAC (Smart Card) enable the server within JDev

    I need to know how to CAC (Smart Card) enable the server within JDev, or if it is even possible.

    Kamran,
    you are definitely thinking in the right direction.
    1) Would I need to export or enter all the existing users of the system presently available through an internal database to the SSO Repository or there is a different way of getting the users to the OID when they first run the url or our Oracle Forms App?
    You have a choice: pre-load (probably using LDIF) or create what I call a self-registration process. Pre-load will require the arduous task of gathering the CAC user CN's in advance. This is technically easy but logistically a nightmare.
    I created a self-registration JSP which is invoked by a failure to lookup a user in OID. Registration involves requiring a user to enter valid database credentials, testing the credentials (by making a connection) and binding the database userid/password to the CAC identity.
    2) How would I get the CAC Certificate CN from the Browser or CAC Card so I can make the comparison to the OID CN?
    When you configure the SSO for certificate authentication, the HTTP_Server will pass the SSL variables (which include the CAC certificate which was authenticated in the SSL handshake) to the sso/web application deployed in the OC4J_SECURITY container. You can install your own plug-in that the SSO will invoke where you can retrieve the authenticated certificate and get any of the information therein from Java.
    I recommend you get very acquainted with the SSO Admin Guide (esp. Cert authentication chapter), as well as, the Forms Deployment Guide (esp. SSO chapter).
    There is too much to fit here. Things would be a lot easier if Forms Server supported enterprise users for authentication to database. Forms apps are relegated to the whole business of RADs and such which gives you X.509 certificate (and thus CAC) authentication but is rather convoluted IMHO (password in the clear in the RAD, orclResourceViewer permission for Forms Server, userid/password login in the background) but that is a different discussion.
    Good Luck.

  • How do I disable Smart Print? Since I enabled smart print this morning I can no longer send pictures

    I enabled smart print this morning. Since then I am not able to send pic via my email to print. I received a message from HP's ePrint service saying printing has been delayed because the printer is turned off or not connected to the internet. I like the Smart Print option but I also like being able to print from my Iphone as well ! Is it possible to do both ?

    I'm using a Presario desktop & windows 7.
    I have done all of the steps suggested here - both the Bing bar program & the HP smartprint 1.0.9.0 are listed.
    When I right click the command bar - The HP smartprint icon does NOT show up.
    I don't see any thing that I can guess is the Bing Bar.
    Help Please This has been going on for way to long!!!!!

  • My Z10 does not have a setting of "smart dialing"

    hello, I use Blackberry Z10, mode number STL100-2, software verison 10.1.0.4181. however in the phone application,when I tap down the setting options, i could not find "smart dialing". because when the caller calls, even though it is saved on my contact book, the contact name cannot show up. I guess because I saved the number with a country code and when the caller calls the country code does not show up and thus no contact name. please tell me how to enable the "smart dialing" opition on my phone. I just could not see it on the phone setting. I am in China and my country code is 86. thanks.

    The only thing I know otherwise is to backup, wipe the device, and load a fresh OS to the device.
    If you need help with that, post back with the OS installed currently at Options > About

  • How to enable callback

    Hi Netpros,
    I have 3660 router with NM-16AM, Modem type is microcom_mimic. I was interested in configuring callback facility on this so that I could connect to this Router from my home. How can I achive this. I am able to dial into the router succesfully. How to move forward, any help??
    TIA

    You can call back PPP clients that dial in to asynchronous interfaces. You can enable callback to the following two types of PPP clients:
    Clients that implement PPP callback per RFC 1570 (as an LCP negotiated extension).
    Clients that do not negotiate callback but can put themselves in answer-mode, whereby a callback from the router is accepted.
    The below link describes how to enable callback

  • How to enable separated listings in Library for audiobooks and textbooks?

    Hi there,
    I have many, MANY audiobooks and .epub books. I hate to have all of them in one subcategory as "Books". Is there any tweak to have separated listings in iTune Library for textbooks — as "Books" and for audiobooks — as "Audiobooks"? How to enable "Audiobooks" in Library?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    Hi Paul
    Ok, now I know what you mean more precisely. No I don't have a Audiobooks subcategory. But if you select a different view in your Books library you will be able to see all your Audiobooks separated from the pdf Books. It's not an answer to your question, but it's the only thing besides smart playlists that I can think of right now.
    Apple really need to make the Audiobooks subcategory in library happen in the next update.

  • NOKIA 500: Smart dialing stopped working after con...

    I'm having lots of problems with this phone. First, mail inbox mess, with yahoo accounts not syncing at all or ActiveSync problems...
    In this case, the smart dialing option stopped working. This happens when I restore contacs from a backup file. I know because I made a hard reset *#7370# and until I restored the contacts, the search function worked. Please, work around this bug.

    This process and experience is ridiculous at this point after numerous, unsuccessful tries.
    Update:
    Yet again I deleted the \cities folder & qf file from my memory card.  I ran Ovi Maps, my cities folder was re-created, I went to My Position and got the expected red dot. Closed Ovi Maps, enabled Bluetooth, connected with the NMT tool then re-ran the Nokia Map Loader.
    Surprisingly, the Nokia Map Loader appeared to connect fine with my device without error. When I selected USA Maps, the tool started downloading, got past the half way point and I saw as message stating "unpacking files".  It was actively copying whatever part of the downloaded files it had grabbed to my memory card.  Great, or so I thought, as this is as far as I've gotten in the last 48 hrs.
    I then got an unexpected error in the Nokia Map Loader and the app closed. The error log is in the attached text file on this thread. (EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV))
    I restarted the Nokia Map Loader and got the same error to reappear immediately but it re-connected with my device. This is the only app crashing like this on my Mac and giving this error.  Previously, the error was EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT).
    Now I'm quite annoyed that the Nokia Map Loader does NOT pick up where it left off in the download process before the app crashed. Therefore, I'm attempting to re-download US Maps for the final time, all 1.5GB of it.  Hopefully it will complete this time.
    Not a good Nokia experience regarding mapping updates at all, at least in the Mac environment.

    I check any possible where to find out the smart dialing options, even I call my service provider China Mobile for help but no way to enable the smart dialing function display. I also update the software, re-install the OS, but the problem still there.
    Andy-bb, from the Phone app, when you swipe down from the top and tap the Settings icon, please list here what you see on the screen, what is in the list?
    Or better yet, please take a screen shot of that screen and post it here in the forums? you will need 10 posts here to post the image from your computer, or upload the image Flickr or a file sharing site and place the link in your post.

  • Nokia 6710 smart dialing

    Hi, anyone knows a good app to enable the smart dialing on nokia 6710 navigator? this is a great phone but nokia make a great mistake on leave this feature out of this device.
    in my opinion this feature will be the greatest upgrade in a future firmware

    Some recent Eseries phones have a similar feature that starts searching your contacts as you type, but this is quite new - perhaps in the future it will find its way down to other models, though things like this most commonly come as part of new 'feature packs' which tend to be applied to new models and not made available to older models.

  • Enable smart host after installing ims5.2

    Hi,
    How to do enable smart host after installation? Do I need to uninstall and install again?

    No need to reinstall. Simply add the daemon keyword to your tcp_local channel definition. If you have a fallback mta, think about adding the lastresort keyword also.
