  • How to enable 3 finger swipe?

I'm a Mac OS user and was always used to swipe with three fingers to change desktops. On iOS that's done with four fingers.
When I went to settings > general I saw the option for multitask gestures but only enable/disable.
Is there some hack/hidden option that allows me to use three fingers instead of four to swipe through tasks? The same goes for exposé.
    Thanks

There is no three finger swipe.

  • Trackpad three-finger swipe goes to wrong window

I'm using a Magic Trackpad with a MacBook Pro running the current Mac OS 10.8.4. But I've had this problem for at least a year, so I'm guessing it also affects the last couple OS versions at least.
I have the trackpad configured to trigger Back and Forward commands with a three-finger left/right gesture (System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures > Swipe Between Pages > Swipe With Three Fingers). I use these gestures to move to the previous or next web page in Safari and to move to the previous or next document in BBEdit and Xcode. Similarly, I also use a three-finger up/down gesture to switch between the header and implementation files in Xcode.
This all works great for a couple weeks, then suddenly something breaks and this happens: if I change the active window by any method (e.g., clicking the window, pressing Command-Tab, clicking the Dock icon), my three-finger gestures will still be targeted to the old window, as if it is still active. If I scroll in the new window with a two-fingered gesture, that will fully activate it and then the three-fingered gestures will be correctly targeted again. I've tried changing the trackpad settings and changing them back, quitting individual apps and sleeping/waking the computer. The only solution I've found to make the gestures work properly at that point is to restart the computer, which is pretty time-consuming given the number of things I'm usually working on at once.
Has anyone else seen this problem, and more importantly does anyone know a solution that doesn't involve restarting? Maybe restarting an individual process from the Activity Monitor?

    JimG16,
I know it sounds silly but is the option for three finger swipe still checked.
System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures ( Tab ) > Swipe between full-screen apps.
Also on mine if I don't have multiple desktops created, Dashboard turned on, or on App in full screen mode it won't switch between them.
Summon Mission Control ( F3 on my keyboard ) > Along the top do you see Multiple Desktops or Apps in full screen.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

  • Dv6-6135dx - How to Enable AHCI in bios for use in Windows 7 64bit

I bought the dv6-6135dx notebook some time back.
I recently got a Solid State Disk and I would like to turn on the Trim, feature.
To turn Trim on I need to enable AHCI.  There is no such option in bios.  How can I turn AHCI on?
I found an unlocked version of the bios that turns on apparently disabled menus, but that may or may not corrupt the bios and I'd like to not have to resort to that.

    Hi,
It's there by default, why do you need to enable it ?

  • Three-finger swipe in system preferences?

After I recently re-installed OS X and did the necessary upgrades to 10.6.5, it seems that my Three-finger swipe in system preferences stopped working. Before, I could navigate the system preferences menu going back and forth with the three-finger swipe but now? nothing... anybody has any idea how to fix? I tried re-resetting the PRAM and check/re-checking + reboot but nothing seems to work...
however, the three finger swipe works in all other applications such as chrome and firefox...

I never knew this to exist in sys preference. Not sure how this would work since you are not highlighting anything, just selecting???

  • How do I enable the three finger swipe gesture to go forward / backwards using Windows 8 for an elantech touchpad?

    Hello Dylmar,
There are a few Firefox add-ons that may work for you. Give these a try:

  • Three finger swipe disappears upon waking from sleep. How do I get it back?

I'm running Mountain Lion (10.8.1) and when my 17 inch MBP wakes from sleep, the three finger swipe between full screen pages is gone. Also, Mission Control is inoperative. Any ideas as to what's causing this and how I get the functions back short of rebooting?

Yes, it is selected. I found another similar thread that suggested 'killall Dock' as a way to get the gesture back. That seems to work. I now have the gesture and Mission Control back working. I know how to fix the problem the next time it shows up.
Hopefully it will be addressed in a future update of Mountain Lion.

  • Three finger swipe in wrong direction

    Hi!
While the two finger swipe/scroll is on "natural", the three fingers still swipe (scroll?) the old "unnatural" way.
Is this only for me? (you can check that by picking "three fingers swipe" and then swipe back&forth in Safari/iCal-weekview/etc.)
What can I do against it?
    Background info:
I changed the feature "Swipe between pages" (under touchpad/more gestures) from "scroll left and right with two fingers" to "swipe with three fingers".
Reason: Even on Apple's own Website there is photostreams (or other features with scrollbars) where one needs to scroll left and right with two fingers (to see all pictures, the whole text etc.), but then two fingers also mean to swipe back to the last opened page, so that's what Safari does (instead of scrolling)!
Please read carefully, I get really annoyed when people teach me about how "natural" is more natural or that "Apple engineers know why they did it this way" or some other bull****.
Thank you so much for your help!!

  • Three finger swipe crashes applications (eg Firefox and Spotify)

I use the latest version of Lion (10.7.2) with a Magic Trackpad and ever since I upgraded to Lion the three finger swipe gesture results in crash in several different applications (e.g. Firefox 6+7 and Spotify). The crashes in Firefox is very annoying since I would like to use the gesture as back-forward navigation.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Your suggestion of using the Console helped me to solve the issue. I noticed in the console logs that several applications complained about not being able to reach something related to "Library/InputManagers/MultiClutchInputManager". So obviously I hadn't removed all traces of the input tools I used before.
So I deleted two files and one folder in InputManagers folder (all files were all related to MultiClutch) and restarted the computer. Now after the reboot, Spotify doesnt crash and I can use the three finger swipe in Firefox to navigate back/forward.
Thanks for the suggestions, William Boyd, Jr.!

  • HT3986 Does anyone know how to enable the "Delete" key for logging on the Windows 7 partition on the latest iMac, via the latest Apple wireless keyboard? Many Thanks

    Hi All
Does anyone know how to enable the "Delete" key for logging on the Windows 7 partition on the latest iMac, via the latest Apple wireless keyboard - the standard wired apple keyboard works fine via this key but not the new wireless keyboard?
    Many Thanks

Holy crap, this fixes the issue.  At least temporarily it has.  I should add that my issue was single finger forward/back swipe stopped working on the magic mouse in Firefox since Mavericks came along.  I have been fighting this since I upgraded to Mavericks a few months ago.  Thank you, tbirdvet.  You have no idea how much easier you just made using my iMac again.

  • Upgraded to Lion & can no longer finger swipe for/backwards between pages. Is there a fix for this?

Title says it all. I just upgraded to Mac OS X Lion, and can no longer use a finger swipe, whether one or 2 fingered, to move backwards an forwards between pages. I can still do so in Safari, but not in Firefox 5.01, my preferred browser, any longer. Doesn't matter if I try using one, two or more fingers
Is there a fix for this? Thank you.

If you download this program http://blog.boastr.net/?page_id=1722 (better touch tool), you can make your own swipe gestures.
However, I have been able to three-finger swipe forward and back on webpages by going to ''system preferences'' > ''trackpad settings'' > ''more gestures''
and checking the box at ''"swipe between pages"'' and selecting ''swipe left/right with 3 fingers''

  • Three finger swipe stopped working

My three finger swipe has stopped working for the last week. I have used it for a year and suddenly it is not working. I have tried togging it on and off in the preference pane with no change. Tested it in Safari and FF with no reaction.

Try doing a PRAM reset, the instructions are:
    *Resetting PRAM and NVRAM*
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.

    Roger

  • The three finger swipe left and right does not seem to work

    Hi
I have been trying to do the left and right three finger swipe that allows you to move between applications to no avail.  It just keeps switching between dashboard and one app even if I have 5 apps open at the same time. Snow Leopard has this feature where all the apps opened are shown when you do the swipe and you can choose the one you want.  I think this is better but it doesn't work.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Antonio

Such spaces actually use very little extra memory relative to the apps you have open to occupy those spaces. I would go out on a limb and say it doesn't matter whether you have one space for every application or all on the same desktop.
The limitation will come from the applications and the data you are crunching on them.
(But that's just a personal view, haven't run into any limits on my ow 4GB Macbook Pro so far)

  • Three finger swipe in finder works intermitently

I'm confused slightly.  I've got the the generation of MBA just before the new one that came out today with 4GB of RAM 13.3".
I upgraded to OSX Lion today and noticed that sometimes, when switching back to finder, the three finger swipe to go FWD or BCK doesn't work at all.  I have to scroll up or down then left or right.
I'm hoping the OS just needs refined a little because it also seems like some of the window animations are choppy as well.  Surely this upgrade hasn't made my three month old laptop obsolete.

Ya, I don't know what's causing it.  It happens to me sometimes as well.  It'll be working just fine and dandy, and then out of nowhere, it decides to stop working for a while or until I restart/logout and in.
