How to enable touchpad while typing on IdeaPad U530

I want to be able to use the thouchpad while simultaneously using the keyboard, i.e be able to play games properly. If I am hitting a key I can no longer move the mouse. I cant figure out how to change that. Already spent around an hour searching the internet for a solution but none seem to have it for windows 8.1. Bummer. Anyone have any ideas? I've already gone to pc settings and turned the touchpad to the no delay setting and I've gone into the mouse settings under the control panel and turned palm tracking to minimum. All were suggestions I've found online but none have solved the issue. I just want to play Portal 2.... By the way the driver software for my touchpad is apparently called Elan, if that helps any. Thanks.

Okay guys and gals. With "newer" HP Laptops, in order for your mouse to be able to move while you are pressing a key on your keyboard is to disable "Smartsense" All you do is go to the control panel, mouse, clickpad settings tab, clickpad settings button, under "pointing" you will find "Smartsense". Click on the gear next to it to open the settings for it. Lastly, slide the slider all the way to the left until it says "off". There you go. That should do it. I searched and searched the internet for the answer for this and could not find one. So I figured it out and decided to post it.

  • Cant enable tuchpad while typing after updating to windows 10!

So yesterday I updated my Pavilion to windows 10 and I used to have a problem when I could not type while holding down a key in windows 8 but I fixed that by turning off smartsense but that wont work in windows 10.. I put all my old touchpad settings I had on windows 8 to windows 10 but I am haveing no luck and have found no solution  to this problem! Any help is appreciated please respond!

Hi everyone, I updated my operating system to Window 10 from Windows 7 four days ago and I am having a ton of problems. I lost a lot of my Lenovo interface options as well...  One of the worst and most annoying problems is that randomly, for half a second, the computer stops and thinks which freezes up my typing. If I am writing something, when it wants to freeze it prevents me from typing that letter. It basically overrides my keyboard well it does that freezing for half a second. Also, when I have a drop down menu it will close when this happens or when I right click, the menu will disappear when this "glitch" happens. One of the biggest clues I found is under the task manager. In the Processes tab, when this "glitch" happens "Windows Problem Reporting" pops up for a half second. I am not sure if that is causing this problem or if something goes wrong and "Windows Problem Reporting" pops up because of something else? Is there a way to check and see what these "Windows Problem Reporting" are? My other problems are that my fan control does not work anymore. I had the option to control the speed and the sound of my fan before updating to Windows 10. Would Lenovo or Windows 10 ever going to sent a drive to fix this problem? Also, I can not control my GPU switch anymore. Before the update I could change my GPU from Intel HD card to Geforce 555M. Now I have no idea what GPU I am using and how to go back and forth. Is there a fix for this? Since all these problems occurred with the Windows 10 update, would it be better for me to go back to Windows 7 and wait to see if Lenovo and Windows ever going to create drives for Lenovo Y570? Is it advisable to switch back W7 and switch back to W10 later? There might be a need to reinstall drivers. Try installing them using compatibility troubleshooter.

  • Gnome3: "Disable touchpad while typing" delay

I've always used that option in Ubuntu before, but it is totally unusable in Gnome3 on my Arch test-setup, because the delay after typing before the touchpad is activated again is way to long. So when I type something and then try to move the mouse pointer or click on something, it stays frozen for about 3 seconds after typing, whereas it should be available instantly after typing without any noticeable delay.
Is there any way to configure that behavior?

Apologize for posting to an old thread. But I found a solution which seems to work. At least on my machine. I thought it may be helpful. I've never worked with the Arch wiki, so I was hoping someone can tell me how to add this to the wiki.
You can use syndaemon to add this functionality. First uncheck the option from the gnome-settings interface. Now read "man syndaemon" and change accordingly. The particular fix that I've been using is this:
    syndaemon -d -k -i 0.2s
Hope this helps someone. I've added this as a script to gnome-session-properties, but I guess there must be a better way to do this (put this $HOME/.profile perhaps?).
I found this here, which may be more helpful: http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Synaptics_Touchpad

  • How to enable Touchpad edge-swipe gestures on Windows 10

    Hello,
Since Windows 10 no longer has the charms bar, I was wondering if it were possible to assign edge-swipe touchpad gestures on Windows 10.
I have Control Zone type touchpad on my non-touchscreen HP laptop and it looks extremely ugly when the left and the right of the touchpad is darker gray but has no distinct purpose than the middle part.
I couldn't find any way to enable edge-swipe gestures in the Control Panel or Settings app. (Maybe there is but I failed to find.)
Is there any way to have edge-swipe gestures on Windows 10? On tablets, swiping from left if the screen brings up Task View and from right brings up Action Center. The gestures could at least be like that on the touchpad, too.
Is HP (or Synaptics) planning to release updated drivers for such thing?
Is there any way to create our own touchpad gestures, perhaps?
    Thank you!

Problem fixed . For anyone who needs help.
Go to contol panel>Mouse>Touchpad settings Tab>Touchpad settings
There you should see 'Palmcheck Enhanced'. Click on the settings button next to it and then turn it to Minimum or Off. Simple thats all.
No need for installs or reinstalling drivers just follow those steps.

  • Enable Keyboard while typing?? Smartsense still doesnt work

Hello I got a massive problem. I bhought my HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC one month ago. I wanted to play a computer game on it. In this  game I have to use the keyboard an the mouse as the same time. At the moment if I press something on the keyboard and the mouse has like a 2 second delay. So I`ve read about this problem. I found a post in this forum: So I did the Smartsense in the mouse settings to minimum. But it still doesn`t work. I need quick help. Thanks alot! Hulkinson

  • [SOLVED] Disable ps2 mouse while typing

I've seen multiple guides for disabling the touchpad while typing.  I've got an alps touchpad which still isn't recognized after trying out the 2 different alps drivers in the aur.
My problem is that I can't use synclient because the touchpad is not recognized as a synaptics device.  I can manually disable the touchpad using xinput.  How do I automatically disable it when I am typing?

The tool at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=96610 detects keyboard activity by looking at /proc/interrupts and can be used to disable or enable the touchpad.

  • The cursor jumps to wherever the pointer is while typing in text boxes.

While typing in a text box, the blinking cursor will jump to wherever the mouse pointer is and begin inserting the typing there. It happens both on external mouse and on touchpad. It's only on Firefox, I've tested IE and it's fine. Sometimes it is the ' that causes it (I read up on the "jump to find" bug), but it seems to be mostly the spacebar that sets it off. I've had it happen on various websites, blogs, emails, internal site mailboxes, seems to be everywhere. Sometimes a FF restart helps, sometimes a computer restart helps, sometimes nothing helps.
I've also had site pages jump "back" in the middle of typing in a text box as well. At first I thought I was hitting the touchpad while typing by mistake but it happens with the external mouse as well. I have the touchpad disabled while ext. mouse is used.
FF is Version 3.6.10, and I'm on laptop.
Plleeeeezzze don't tell me I have to go back to IE. ewwwww

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]<br />
    <br />
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Satellite L450D: erratic cursor while typing

    Hi first post
I have recently taken delivery of Sat L450, as part of home access for our 11year daughter.
My problem is that while typing either on or off line the cursor is erratic.
It can jump into any other line and if you don't watch it constantly, it will screw up what you have typed.
I just completed a search for drivers and noticed there are two types of topuchpad drivers, so unsure if this would solve the problem or which one. (while typing this post the cursor has jumped back to previous lines 5 times)

    Hi
Please disable the touchpad while typing using the FN + F9 key combination.
I had the same issue some years ago and didnt notice that I touched the touchpad surface accidentally while typing!
I disabled touchpad and it was the solution

  • While typing in Contribute, Page disappeared. How do I recover?

While typing away on a major Page revision...the draft disappeared. There was no warning message...no back button. How do I recover that draft?

    Hi Graffiti;
    Thank you for your input.
Checked. I did not have Rollbacks (Tim Horton’s???) enabled...so assume I have lost an hours work. I’m obviously not impressed with the Contribute programmer’s that would allow this to happen...why not just a simple BACK button? I’ll talk to Adobe.
    Thanks again...have a great day!

I have a problem while typing in my MacBook pro. it is showing different characters when i type. for example: qw`e§r]t[y=   this is how when we type "qwerty|" can anyone help me pls?

You could just try changing your Input Sources under System Preferences>Language & Text:
But I kind of doubt that's going to work. It may be a hardware problem or a system problem. If you take it into Apple they might be able to determine which and might advise a reinstallation of System software. I would take it to an Apple Store or an AASP but, first, make sure that you have a backup just in case they suggest a clean install of the system.
    Good luck,

  • How to enable purchasing tab in BOM, while defining bom for a item

    dear gurus,
while defining a bom for a item, there ae various tabs like main, effectivity, OM etc. among that purchasing tab is in disabled state. how to enable that.
pls provide setup and whats actual use of that.
    waiting fr reply.

    Dear,
For a phantom assy the special procurement key in the material master should be 50. You have done the right thing.
But in the BOM of FERT please remove the phantome assy Off indicator. Once you maintained the special procurement key 50 in material master, the phantom indicator will be acutomatically set in the high level bom.
Hence if you activate the phantom assy off then this will override the phantom indicator
For more understanding please see trhe below links

  • How Do I Hide Mouse Pointer While Typing In Firefox

Only in firefox, and only recently am I having problems typing anything through firefox, as the slightest touch of my laptops touch pad causes the mouse pointer to jump along with my typing cursor. This is causing major issues as I conduct all y business emails through firefox. If this cant be helped I will have to start using Internet Explorer Again. EVERY other program I use auto hides the mouse while typing, Except FF....
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Not sure, but I believe a week or so ago

I have had the same problem despite having Hide Pointer When Typing checked in Mouse Properties. Damn annoying. I thought I finally found a solution with a free utility called "Park Cursor Aside" at http://www.makeuseof.com/dir/parkcursoraside-hide-mouse-cursor-when-typing/.
Works great in Chrome and everywhere else EXCEPT Firefox. How about it Mozilla, are you are giving me another reason to switch over to Chrome? Please fix this. Thank you.
