How to Enable Turbo Boost?

I have HP Pavillion G6 (core i5 2430M) .. I want to know how to enable turbo boost?

Intel® Turbo Boost Technology is a way to automatically run the processor core faster than the marked frequency if the part is operating under power, temperature, and current specifications limits of the Thermal Design Power (TDP). This results in increased performance of both single and multi-threaded applications. Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 takes advantage of the power efficiencies introduced with having an integrated die for processor and graphics. It is also optimized for the new micro-architecture that was introduced with the Intel® Core™ i7-2xxx processor series and the Intel® Core™ i5-2xxx processor series.

    1) Wich motherboard is ? MSI X58 PLATINUM or MSI X58 PLATINUM SLI ?
    2) What is the lastest version Bios and where can i get ?
    3) How to enable turbo boost in this motherboard ?
    4) Thanks so much guys.

My bad. The obvious lack of your self research got the better of me. I do not take helping, if I can, lightly. This is new technology, & a lot of expertise is in short supply. I downloaded the manual on this board & read the bios section, & in CMOS Setup, you should find an "Enable" setting for Turbo Boost. If you don't, please contact MSI Tech Staff @ http://ocss.msi.com.tw Also, (in your manual), is a reference under "Intel Turbo Boost Tech", which clearly states "for further information please refer to Intel's official website". By your original post, CPU-Z says it's an SLI? What did you buy? Does it say on the retail box? At MSI's website, the X58 Platinum (not the SLI), has version 1.0 bios offered in three global region zip files. M7522v1.0 Euro.zip, M7522v1.0 ASIA.zip, & E7522v1.0.zip. J.T.N. is correct, the SLI board takes something else. Are both boards bios's compatable? I have no idea. Recommend step one as to confirm with MSI what board you truly have & go from there.

how to activate turbo boost feature in new mac book pro

Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.01 automatically allows processor cores to run faster than the rated operating frequency if they’re operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits.
Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 is activated when the Operating System (OS) requests a frequency higher than the rated frequency of the processor.  Whether the processor enters into and the amount of time the processor spends in the Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 state depends on the workload and operating environment.

It works when it needs to permitting power is available, and it isn't too hot basically.  You shouldn't need to do anything.
    From Intel:
Intel Turbo Boost Technology is usually enabled by default. You can disable and enable the technology, only through a switch in the BIOS, there are no other user controllable settings. Once enabled, Intel Turbo Boost Technology works automatically under operating system control.

  • How do i turbo boost my 2.7 i7 macbook pro 15" retina to 3.7?

    Hello everyone...
...can someone tell me how to turbo boost my 2.7 i7 macbook pro 15" retina to 3.7?
Being quite new to laptops (my G4 lasted me 9 years!) I'm not quite sure what to do or look for.
    Any advice much appreciated!
    Glenn

Turbo boost isn't user controlled, it's technology that automatically (and dynamically) kicks in based on the usage of your machine. For more information:

Or just google, 'Intel Turbo Boost' for tons of resources.

  • How does the Turbo-boost works on the Intel i7?

Just bought the new MBP Retina and would like to know how the Turbo Boost works in my processor. Is it a regular upgrade like buying a new processor or is it something I could menage at the settings and have it boosted up?
    Thanks,

    Intel's definition:
Any of the following can set the upper limit of Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 on a given workload:
    Number of active cores
    Estimated current consumption
    Estimated power consumption
    Processor temperature
When the processor is operating below these limits and the user's workload demands additional performance, the processor frequency will dynamically increase until the upper limit of frequency is reached. Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 has multiple algorithms operating in parallel to manage current, power, and temperature to maximize performance and energy efficiency. Note: Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 allows the processor to operate at a power level that is higher than its rated upper power limit (TDP) for short durations to maximize performance.

turbo boost is just enabled unless disabled in the BIOS. There is no way to overclock your laptop. You can install this little app to track the turbo boost and be sure it is working:

  • MSI GE70 2OE - turbo boost doesnt work ?

    Hey all,
im confused of intel turbo boost technology.
I think my notebook wont boost up and I dont know why. My bios is locked so I can not do any overclocking ...
I dont know why but i can not install intel extreme tuning (dont launch when istalled ...)
My power plan settings: maximum performance (100% CPU in detailed settings)
CPU still shows max 2,4 GHZ (in HWinfo) here's the screen:
Also, my question is: how to enable turbo boost when my bios is locked ?

    Thank you for answer.
Yes you're right but it isnt my case.
I have already solved it. Problem was here:
battery and power cable (both together) must be connected in notebook at same time !!
Otherwise turbo boost will be permanently off. So, not only battery or power cable affects this turbo effect,.. but both of this things must be plugged in notebook at same time ... :/ damn

  • MSI Z87 G45 and Intel 4670k Turbo Boost Option Missing?

    In my BIOS (V1.6):
I go into OC>CPU Features and Turbo Boost is not there, I have seen the bottom setting about using Intel's Turbo Boost, to UNDERCLOCK when needed, but I see no Feature to activate Turbo Boost or for some reason has this feature been taken out of V1.6?
Also note that I accidentally reset my XMP RAM profile and is now back to 2400MHz.

Not quite sure but this should be in just OC. Also you don't have to enable turbo boost but manually increase frequency using + and -, leaving all other settings at auto.
You will find there things like Frequency mode (not quite sure how it's worded) so you can either set it to be e.g. 3.4ghz all the time (idle too) or adaptive so when idling, it goes down to 1.5ghz (around..). Look carefully.

  • G560 Turbo Boost

    Hello,
    I have a g560 with i5-450m, 4gb ram, 320 gb hard drive with 2.02 bios.
I know that the i5-450 has the turbo boost technology, but how
do i enable it in the bios? I checked out the bios but didn't find anything
that allows me to enable the feature, unless I missed it...

    Hello,
    Intel TurboBoost FAQ : http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/cs-029908.htm
How is Intel® Turbo Boost Technology enabled or disabled?
Intel® Turbo Boost Technology is usually enabled by default by a switch in the bios where you can either enable or disable operation. Other than this, there are no user controllable settings to change Intel® Turbo Boost Technology operation either in the hardware settings or operating system. Once enabled, Intel® Turbo Boost Technology works automatically under operating system control.

My guess is that it's on by default in the BIOS. On the other hand it's not a bad idea to check via software, like above, to see if it's working or not. Please check and report back, edit subject to (SOLVED) if all is sunny.
