How to enable Wake On Lan on MSi P45 Neo2?

Hi,
I just bought a P45 Neo2, and I think I have WOL on this machine, as the Realtek chipset 8111C does support the feature. However, I'm not sure how to
- enable
- use
the function. Can you help me?
Under Device Manager, I go to the Realtek network adapter --> Properties --> Power Management --> Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby.
Now, it is enabled. How should I use it? I would be very thankful :-).

Please have a look here first for basic introduction to Wake on LAN and "Magic Packets":

  • How to enable wake on lan on Thinkpad Twist?

I have a Thinkpad Twist purchased because of the presence of the ethernet card.
Unfortunately I can not turn wake on lan.
I did several searches and several attempts without success.
Someone managed to enable wake on lan?
    Thank you.
(sorry for the English by Google Translate)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey there Cello67,
To enable Wake On Lan on a Thinkpad twist:
    1) You will first need to power down your laptop completely.
    2) Then turn it on, as soon as you turn it on start hitting the enter key to interrupt start up. This will take you to a start up menu.
    3) From here you will need to enter your BIOS.
    4) Move right over to the Config, then press enter on the Network Selection
    5) The first option you should have is Wake On Lan. You can change this from disabled to either AC Only or AC and Battery.
After you have done this save your settings, and resume startup. Once the computer has finished booting go to your desktop, and pull out your charm bar by pressing Win Key + C or with a swipe from the right side of your screen in. From here you will:
    1) Enter the Control Panel
    2) Device Manager - > Your Ethernet Card/Adapter
    3) Click the Power Management Tab
    4) Select "Allow this device to wake the computer"
    Hope this helps Cello67!

  • How to Enable Wake On Lan over the Internet??

Hi, I am using RV220W with the latest firmware, I want to make "Wake on LAN" work for my NAS, I found the following description on Internet:
"If you wish to use Wake On Lan over the internet you will need to set up your destination firewall/router to allow "Subnet Directed Broadcasts". Most routers and firewalls disable this option by default.
You will then need to allow traffic through on your firewall/router on a specific port. The choice of ports is up to you."
So how can I enable "Subnet Directed Broadcasts" on RV220W??
    Thanks.
    Raymond

    Hi Jasbryan,
If RV220W doesn't forward UDP to a broadcast address, could you ( i.e. Cisco) provide a tools for sending WOL Magic Packet to the LAN on Router Device Manager page?
I see many routers also provide this tools from their manager page.
    Thanks.

  • MSI P45 Neo2 FR need to know voltage settings.

    Hello.
Ok, I have a question about my voltage settings in the bios.
Particular for the FSB voltage and the northbridge voltage.
Can anyone tell me what the voltage settings are when they are on auto?
I have no idea in which manner to up the nb voltage to give my ram some more oc headroom.
I have 4x1 Gb team Xtreem cas3 ram i can't get it over 1000Mhz. These are D9 chips and run up to 1200Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.4v.
But this board does not seem to like it.
So any tips how to set the voltage and in which steps to increase them?
    Thanks for your time.
    Specs:
    MSI P45 Neo2 FR bios 1.1
    Intel Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz 9x400 1.47v
    Team Xtreem 4x1Gb 964Mhz 4-4-4-10 2.25v
    Sapphire HD 3870

Ok. I have tested both kits.
I have ran them both at 1100Mhz 5-5-5-15. 2.35v. Just to check again if it wasn't the ram acting up.
This was done by leaving everything on auto except CPU voltage, RAM voltage.
Now i am gonna try to get 1 kit running at 1100Mhz again but then switching to manual on the MCH settings.
Then i will pray that if i find the right setting for one kit so that if i add the other i only have to up it a notch to get it working like it should.
    Edit.
    After an hour of fiddling i can now boot 400 x9= 3.6Ghz on 1.47, 4x1Gb 1066Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.35v, MCH 1.3v.
    Thats nice.

    Okay, try this:
    - connect all case wiring for front-panel stuff to the mainboard or short the two pins for Power-On on the mainboard's pin header with a screwdriver.
    If that does not work:
    - take the board out of the case to test it on a non-conducting surface in barebone configuration (CPU, video card, all power connectors, one stick of RAM) and repeat the step above
If that does not change anything:
    - test with different PSU
Case closed, i put the motherboard outside the case and worked like a charm, seems like a bad conduct between the motherboard and the case, thanks for all the answers guys, it was the only thing i didnt examined and thankfully it was it and not some DOA board. Thanks again.

  • How do I enable "Wake on Lan" P1102W

iMacs, running 10.6.8, Airport Extreme, Laserjet P1102W with fixed IP address.  Once it goes to sleep, how do I wake it up?

I changed the wireless security setting on my wifi router to use "WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]" instead of "WPA2-PSK".
I guess the printer has a problem with the newer version of WPA2.
Now it continues to be available even after it goes into powersave mode.
Try it - ymmv.  It took a stroke of luck and 12 months of frustration to figure this out.

  • How to configure Wake On LAN to work through the Internet?

I'm using an iOS app to wake my desktop computer. It works perfectly fine when I'm within my WiFi range. However, when I'm out of my Linksys E3000 access point, it no longer works over the Internet. So, if anyone can point me to documentation that have step by step instruction on how to configure this through the Linksys E3000 access point, I'll be grateful.

    Hi ohgosh,
I believe your computer is already configured and has all the requirements for Wake on Lan since it works locally. To do it remotely you need to open the regular port numbers used for WOL like UDP ports 9 and 32767. Your desktop IP address must be set to static because that's what you need to enter on the port forwarding page of your router. You may use this link below for instructions on how to do port forwarding on your router.

Another option is to set up DynDNS on your router. With this, you need to subscribe to DynDNS.com. I found some online links that could help you enable WOL remotely:

  • SG200 how to configure Wake on LAN across subnets

How can I configure  to support WOL on a SG200 (8 Ports) to support Wake On Lan (Magic Packets) from a different IP Subnet or other SG200 Switch. It seems not to support Directed-Broadcasts.

I checked out the link and tested the changes. Unfortunately, the WOL still won't work. In the link you attached, it states that you cannot turn on a computer that is off. Does that mean one that is off such as unplugged or in shutdown? Also, one of the steps to configure the firewall access rules says to block all outbound connections for all services. That doesn't make any sense to me, but I might be wrong. I also noticed that the link was for another router. I don't know if that makes a difference. I also read somewhere in the forums that someone else is having a similar problem, saying that Port Forwarding still isn't working in the latest firmware. This whole problem is strange because it used to work all the time on my old router with Port Forwarding, but on this one it won't work at all.

  • How to disable wake on Lan on 865PE LS

Both led on the lan is on all the time, even when computer is turned off, i disabled wake on PME setting in the bios, and i also disabled all the wake on setting in the network card properties in XP, but led's are still on all the time, is there a another way to disable wake on lan ??

I have three other computers connected to the same router, none of them have lan led on when turned off, and i think there is no reason for the leds to be on if you don't use the wake on lan function
in the power management, "allow this device to turn on the computer" is unchecked, i can't think of any other settings, this never happen before with my other lan card, i mean its not a big deal to have the leds on, but its nice to know how to turn them off to save some power.
    any thoughts??

  • SA520W - how to enable communication between LAN Devices?

We install our new SA520W Security Appliance. Wireless is setup and Internet works fine.
But we want to PING another computer inside the LAN it does not response. We can not see other computers, printers or devices even they are in the same network, same IP range by wire or wireless. Is there something we need to enable in Utilities?
We have shared folders and printers on the network, so we had to come back to our old router. Please help.
    Thanks,

By default the SA520w isolates wifi clients from each other.  The setting you are looking for is AP isolation under APN settings. this needs to be switched off
