How to encode Final Cut Sequences as MPEG-2 for DVD Pro

I am using Final Cut Studio (non-Universal version)
I am wanting to encode a Final Cut sequence
as an MPEG-2 for DVD Studio Pro 4
I don't want to render the Sequence, I merely
want to select the Entire Sequence and encode
it as an MPEG-2 wherein I can adjust the settings
custom-style
How do I do this?
thanks

QuickTime MPEG-2 is no longer included in new installs.
Read Apple's info doc.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301871
Because of the superior capabilities of Compressor, the QuickTime MPEG-2 encoder is superfluous and is not included with new installations of DVD Studio Pro 4 or Final Cut Studio.

  • After Effects Output Setting for a Final Cut Sequence

Okay my final cut sequence in DV/DVCPRO NT 720x480. My After Effects composition is 720 x 480. When I render the After Effects is comes into the timeline 4x3. Help out there on what I'm doing wrong? User error for sure!

Look in the Browser..or bin. Scroll to the left...look at the columns. Note that one says ANAMORPHIC. put a check in that column.
BUT...did you do your graphic as anamorphic in AE? How can you make a 720x480 16:9 without it being anamorphic.

  • How to minimize Final Cut pro with one click?

I know you can minimize windows (canvas, timeline, etc) by pressing Command+M 4 times but how to minimize Final Cut pro with one click?

Hold down the Option key and click the Minimize button on any window, all windows in the app will minimize.
Don't know what or if the reverse of this is - so although it's a one click minimize all windows, I believe you have to re-enlarge them one at a time.

  • Can Final Cut Express read MPEG-2 format from a Sony HDD Handycam?

I have just recently switched from PC to Mac and generally I couldn't be happier, however I recently bought the latest Sony Hard Disk Drive Handycam and it records to the HDD in MPEG-2 format. VLC will play the files but I am after software that will alow me do do some basic editing and burning to DVD. I don't want to spent the AUD$2000 on DVD Studio and was wondering if anyone knows whether Final Cut will do the job for me?

I have also switched from PC to Mac.
Generally the MPEG-2 format is a poor choice to edit in independently if you have PC or a Mac.
If you want to put MPEG-2 files a DVD you can use the program "Toast".
It will accept the MPEG files as source files when you create a DVD, but you can not do any editing.
Another option is to convert the MPEG files to AVI by using a conversion program. Search for one on the internet.

  • Does anyone know how to get final cut pro x to stop lagging?

Does anyone know how to get final cut pro x to stop lagging?

    Two things: 1) MORE RAM.
    2) What hard drive?
I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but the bare minimum to get decent performance out of FCP X is 8GB.
If you mac supports more, even better - go to 12GB or 16GB.
Also, the hard drive? Are you editing on the internal drive? That is also a bottleneck. The system drive should not also be used as a media drive; plus, depending on model, it may not be very fast drive to begin with.
You should use an external drive with a fast enough connection - USB3 or Thunderbolt, if possible; FW800 as a distant third. USB2 may also work, albeit it is a relatively slow connection.

  • How to uninstall final cut pro 5

How do you do this? I have used app delete to erase the files but it didn't get them all. I know this because when I check for updates it still offers me the final cut pro updates. I have searched around but cant find an uninstaller. Help please.

Warning - This is a long post.
How to uninstall Final Cut Pro & the other ProApps -
There are two ways to do this. The first requires that you insert the
install discs for each app and go through the following procedure to
    identify the installed files.
    1) Insert the disc and double click the install icon.
    2) Click to let the installer check your system
    3) After the installer opens, click File > Show Files (Command-T)
    4) Click the disclosure triangle next the the app's name to show all the
files installed, then select all of them
    5) Choose Edit > Copy (Command-C)
    6) Open a text editor & paste the list
    7) If you have a printer connected, print
    8) Make sure you delete the file/folder in the exact location indicated
    in the list
    9) Insert the next app's install disc and repeat
The other way involves the Terminal.
    Using Terminal:
    1) In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G)
    2) Enter the location /Library/Receipts/FinalCurPro.pkg/Contents
    3) Click Go to open the Contents folder
    4) Launch Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
    5) Enter the command lsbom -s (a lower case L, not an upper case i)
lsbom lists each of the files inside the bill of materials. To list only
the folders, the command would be lsbom -d.
    6) Type a space, then drag the Archive.bom file from the Finder window
    to the Terminal window.
    7) Press Return to view the list
    8) Drag to select the list in the Terminal window and choose File > Copy
    (Command-C)
    9) Open a text editor and paste the list into it. Print if you have a
    printer attached.
    10) Guided by the list, delete all the files and folders, being
extremely careful to delete from the exact locations shown in the list.
NOTE: The above comes from the Peachpit book Optimizing Your Final Cut
    Pro System.

How to update final cut pro newer version?

Do you have Final Cut Pro X? (To check, go to the menu bar and click Final Cut Pro > About). If you don't have version 10 (X) I don't think you can update it any way other than buying it from the Mac App Store, which requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later.
It's currently $300 on the Mac App Store, which is an enormous drop from what it used to be.

  • How much is Final Cut Pro x?

I Am getting a mac in 3 weeks and I have heard IMovie is only good for small home movie projects. So I would like to get a more professional editing software. So how much is Final Cut Pro x?

...  and I have heard IMovie is only good for small home movie projects. .. II've never done anything professional before but I do YouTube videos, ..
may I suggest to read professional advice for the apps, and not what's chattered around on 'boards' or 'social media'?
all Apple Apps offer a 'Help' button, upper right in the Menu bar, which laeds to the official Manuals, e.g.
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/?lang=en
    http://help.apple.com/finalcutpro/mac/10.1/
and there're few professional, 'recommandable' posters at YouTube offering help, for FCPX I like to mention Larry Jordan, rippletraining, izzyvideo...
You can create highly professional video with iMovie, and you can create terrible amateurish stuff with FCPX ... these are just tools.
You get pro with your mind, not with your wallet...
    Follow Ian's advice:
Use iMovie which comes preinstalled with your new Mac..
It needs some time to get to the bottom of this nice tool.

  • How to let Final Cut "ignore" other monitor and have preview on the largest

How to let Final Cut "ignore" the other monitor" and have preview on the largest monitor?
I have a setup with a MB Pro and an external Eizo 27" calibrated screen.
Now I am using the 27" as the main screen with Final Cut with its panes and windows on it and the MBPro as preview (Command F12). I would like to see the preview on the large 27" when I hit Command F12 and not on the laptop sometimes. Any way to do this?
When I do the "mirror" screen setup the resolution drops down on the Eizo 27" so that does not seem to be a good option.
    Any solutions?

  • Anyone know how to uninstall Final Cut Studio?

I've attempted 3 installs and at the very end it says there were errors (of course, it doesn't say what errors), and to try again. Well, after 20+ hrs. into this I think it's time to start with a clean slate. But I can't find anything online on how to uninstall Final Cut Studio. I found several links to some mysterious document 93150, but apple's site doesn't have it anymore. Yeah, my luck.
If anyone could help me on this, you're sure to get lots of good karma this weekend, maybe even into the week.
    thanks,
    -w

Yeah, the Knowledge Base documents to uninstall FCP 4 or higher no longer exist. (only the doc for FCP 3 exists) That being said, the Troubleshooting Basics for Final Cut Pro 5 document does detail how to trash receipts and reinstall. Haven't needed to try it myself (knocking on wood) but I take it you've have and it still hasn't worked out for you?
What, exactly, is prompting all of these installs?

  • Can Final Cut Studio 2 make Blu-Ray DVDs

I have Final Cut Studio 2 on a mac book pro. I am not sure whether this topic belongs in compressor or dvd studio, but does the HD DVD mean it is HD DVD Format or a DVD that is high definition. So, in other words, can I do Blu-Ray also.

DVD Studio Pro 4.2 (in Final Cut Studio 2) has not yet had an update that allows creating and burning a blu-ray project.
You can create a basic HD DVD (yes it is a format) project and burn to a normal Standard Definition (red laser) DVD.
This plays on Mac computers only and certain Toshiba HD DVD set top players.
(see here for the "how to" )
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4436223&#4436223
We're stilll waiting for Apple to update DVD Studio Pro to enable blu-ray support.
So, no, you can't make blu-ray video projects on your MacBook Pro...yet.
You can only burn data discs should you buy a blu-ray burner.
For a closer examination of what's similar, and what's different between the two fomats, have a look here:
