How to enhace business content extractor for cube in production

Hi All,
I want to run report based on 0MATERIAL on two cubes 0PCA_C01 and ZCOPC_C08. I dont have 0MATERIAL in cube 0PCA_C01.
Both of the cubes are in production. I am trying to enhance the data source 0EC_PCA_1 (for cube 0PCA_C01) to bring in 0MATERIAL.
> Is this the right way to do it?
If it is then, do i need to write the code in funciton module after appending the 0MATERIAL fields to the
data source. does any body have the code or plz help me step by step to write the code in CMOD....which tables should i go to get the 0MATERIAL.
> Most importantly, does enhancing the datasource 0EC_PCA_1 with omaterial affect the omaterial in the datasource for my second cube (can the same infoobject be in two data sources..bcoz master data is common for all cubes)....
I want to do this right....as both the cubes are in production.....plz help me..
Plz address any issues like data loss bcoz of enhancing datasource in production or something like that
thanks in advance,
> useful inputs will be rewarded

Hi Aravind,
You need to have a foreign key relationship with the base data to material to bring material no as a transaction data. There has to be a link from where you can extract the data. FIrst you see if this link is available in any other ods in BW itself. For example, if you have the vendor details in your cube, see if you can get the material from the AP ods. this depends on your implementation.
If you do not drop the cube load, how will this value be updated to the old data. Assuming you are doing deltas, the new records coming in will have this data filled but the data that already sxisted will not have this data. So, I think you will need to drop the load.
I know the amount of data could be huge but if you have to get the data from R/3 (this is if the data/link i mentioned above is not available in BW), you have to enhance the data source. In this case, you can not avoid datasource enhancement.
You can create a Zmaterial and load it from 0material. This will not help you. By doing this, you will be creating another master data. Even if you include this master data zmaterial in your cube, since you can not map it in the update rules, it will not help you. See if you can lookup this value from some other ODS.
Hope this helps.

  • How to activate business content extractor for masterdata in ECC 6.0?

    Hi Experts,
I have a small problem with the extracttor 0PS_RESPNO_TEXT in ECC 6.0?
If i try to open it in RSA2 / RSA6, it says that active version not available. When i check in the developement system, i have it as modified version.
For this problem, I hope activating this in Development and transporting to Prodction should fix.
As far as i know, activation of sap delivered extractors can be done through SBIW or RSA5. But i have not done this before.
Can anybody please help me with step by step procedure to activate this and also what are the precautions and checks that need to be preformed?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Asrar Ahamed MA

It depends on which BW environment has an RFC connection to the ECC environment you're activating the DataSource in. Typically, environments are paired, similar (but not always) like the depiction below:
    ECC Development <-> BW Development
    ECC QA <-> BW QA
    ECC Production <-> BW Production
Best Practices suggest that a DataSource be activated and put on a transport in the ECC Development environment. Upon activation of the DataSource in ECC Development, replication of the DataSource in the BW Development environment can take place and Best Practices suggest putting the DataSource on a transport in BW. As the ECC transport is promoted throughout the ECC landscape, the BW transport is promoted throughout the BW landscape in order to keep them in sync.
So, if the envrionment that you've just activated the DataSource has an RFC connection to your BW Production environment, you can replicate in BW Production and if that's your standard practice, then that's the way your should do it. It's typically, however, not considered a Best Practice to be able to create, update or delete in a production environment.

But I'm also wanna see the master data BI content data source explaination, e.g. 0CUST_SALES_ATTR, 0Material_Attr, 0Vendor_Attr.

  • Business Content Extractors for Inbound Deliveries (again!!!)

    Dear all,
although we had the same question already in january, but as there was no solution at all, I have to ask the question how I'm able to extract <b>in</b>bound deliveries to BW. They are stored in LIKP/LIPS, but somehow the standard extractor 2LIS_12_* filter the corresponding document types.
    Thanks for your help,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
Have you tried by using R/3 LIS Structures (those named SXXX). You can try checking if you have anyone that is useful or you can create a new one and see in R/3 if it gets the information you need. Maybe you'll need help of an SD consultant. The transaction used to create those structures is MC21.
Then you will need to create the datasource by using transaction LBW0.
    Hope this helps.

  • Delta Enabled Business Content Extractors and Safety Intervals

Is there a transaction/table from where I can check the safety intervals of Business Content extractors for example 2LIS_13_VDITM.  If I created a Z copy of an extractor is there a way of changing this value? Thanks

There are two fundamentally different extractor types:
    1. Que, which is updated at time of transaction
    2. Delta based on incremental field on transaction
LIS extractors are type 1 and CO extractors and generic data sources are type 2.
Type 1 is more advanced as it handles the change directly. Type 1 handles complex data scenarios where type 2 is better for simple scenarios. Learn more i BW350

  • Find an R/3 table in a Business-Content extractor

    Hi all,
Is there any web site or place I can go, type the name of an R/3 table in, and find if that table exists in a Business Content extractor?
       Thanks.
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
I don't know about any website providing info abt DS, but I know how to find out the extractor,
    Check Table ROOSOURCE (TCode SE16).
If field EXMETHOD = V (Transparent Table or DB View), name of datasource can be searched with field EXTRACTOR containing the table or view name.
In SE 11 you can process the u201Cwhere usedu201D function for a table to determine the views related to it and then search for them.
    Hope this anwer your query.

  • Business content extractors

    Hi All,
Why is it suggested to use business content extractors when compared to custom generated extractors? performance ?? if yes, how does it affect...
    can anyone please explain??
    Thanks in advance.
    --Monica

Not really for performance, but because the Business content are predefinited into real scenario of business.
In many case to define a complete scenario (example inventory management or CRM activity...) without BI content you must define houndreds of objects and connect them to the object of source system.
With BI contect (and extractors) you can start with a great part of your object already defined. (after I think you need to define your custom object).
Second the standard extractor will be mantained from SAP to be coerent to the SAP application (inventory management, CRM, ...)
Are these the main reasons to suggest the Business content extractors.

  • ERROR while activating the Business Content of Sales Cube 0SD_C03

    Hi,
iam facing an error, iam getting the  error while activating the Business Content sales info cube and Inventory info cube with the collection option DATA FLOW BEFORE. In my system the service pack was 14, what shall be the approach. Here iam getting the error like some 0DB--  objects are not available in the D version. if u have any solution for this please share with use also.
Please treat this as an urgent, because we are unable to proceed with the further Business Content Activation.
    Thanks,
    Prabhakar.

    Hi Raj,
I have searched for those objects in the BI content for activating those objects, but those objects are not available in the BI content.
In general while activating the info cube if any object is in inactive means we will activate the object seperatly and we will activate the info cube it will resolve the issue. but here those 0DB-- objects are not available in the BI content.
While activating the sales and inventory info cube it was throughing the short dump, In the short dump it is showing these message.
    ASSIGN_LENGTH_0 " "
    SAPLSNR3 or "LSNR3F01"
    LOCAL_BUFFER
    please treat this as urgent.
    Thanks
    Prabhakar.
