How to enlarge an image and not lose quality of picture?

Hi,
I'm new to Photoshop!
I need to enlarge an image to go on A4 paper with a landscape orientation.
I'm struggling..any help would be great!
Thanks,
Kate

You're welcome.
What you did was known as "scaling". If there are enough pixels, you can change the print size with noticing anything wrong.
That's the best, because you are not adding or subtracting pixels, which is called "re-sampling".
If the scaling did not work then you would use Image Size to enlarge the picture by guessing what pixels to add. Not the best way to go, because you are adding information not in the picture to make it look better.
My Advice: If you have a camera, use the highest MP setting, shoot jpeg best quality, or even better RAW
If you scan, plan. 300 ppi is a good start and should give you plenty of pixels at A4.
That really the simple story. Read up to understand digital images.

I want to delete my current exchange account and replace it with my new one. How can I achieve this and not lose my contacts, photos, etc associated with this account? Please help..
    Thank you,

    Bad idea.
What information do you want to share, exactly?  You can share contacts, reminders, and calendars with other iCloud users without the need for both of you to use the same iCloud account.  You can authorize both phones to use apps purchased under the same Apple ID without sharing an iCloud account.
Sharing an iCloud account is a bad idea in general. There is too much opportunity for someone to damage or delete data that will affect both.

    Hello dancetoday07,
Let's see if we can square this away for you. With backing up your iPhone, it will back everything you have using iTunes and if you use iCloud, by default, backs up everything. After you have made a backup you can restore that to put the contents of the backup on your replacement iPhone. If you want to put certain things back on, you will at least need to export the content to your computer, like your photos and videos. If you only want to put certain things back on, then you will need to sync that over with iTunes. All the information you will need are in the articles below.

how do remap drive names and not lose project clip links to Event names...?

You will need an extra external drive. All moves must be done within iMovie to preserve your links to the projects.
First Move (command-drag) the event to the extra drive. Make sure the project still works.
Then rename, reformat, or repartition your drive as needed. Then, if you want, move the Event back to the newly named drive, again via Command-Drag within iMovie.

  • Best way to print an image multiple times on same sheet and not lose quality when doing so

    Hello,
I have the full subscription to Adobe Creative Suite, but am unfamiliar with almost all of the programs. I have used Photoshop a bit, but not too much.
I have this project I do several times a year, and am sure there is a better way to do it.
I am sent a colourful excel spreadsheet - a schedule. I print a bunch of copies full size, then need to print 8 copies on a single 8.5x11 piece of paper.
I've tried several methods - but want to know what the best way to retain the best quality would be.
The best I've done (and I'm not totally happy with) is to copy the image into Photoshop, save as a PDF, create 7 more copies then merge as a single PDF and print.
I do find that the quality does suffer a bit.
Can anyone suggest a better way?
    Thanks in advance.
    Amber

With all the apps at your disposal, that is a long way around. Granted it is hard to not loose quality/data when scaling. But it makes sense to create the document to your liking, then create a new document that is 8.5" x 11" and place the original into it. Then using guides or alignment tools, duplicate that image.
This allows you to have full control over the location of each image, and extra data needed like captions, names, etc. and how that data is formated.
Luckily you have multiple programs that can accomplish this. Some are easier than others, some are more robust than others, etc. In the end it is what you are familar with and how much time you can spend on learning while getting the job done.
Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign are all your go to programs from creating anything for print and they can be used for other media as well. But that is their strong suite, print.
All three apps have their own dedicated forum on this site, so go ahead and mark them as your favorites as your questions for each need to be in their respective place.

  • How do I separate my iPhone 6 from my husbands? We've always shared the same Apple id? How do we change that and not lose his content?

HHow do I separate my iPhone 6 from my husbands? We share the same Apple id?

Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library. Note that once done you cannot "share" apps under a single Apple ID. Each of you must purchase your own apps under your own Apple ID. When you decide to split up like this one of you will need to re-purchase the apps that they want to use.
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.

  • How do I save as gif and not lose quality

I got an image with lot's of text in a clipping mask and I can't save it as gif without the picture looking aweful. Please help!

Your expectations are unrealistic. Your text characters are small enough that they are coming up against the hardware resolution of the monitor. The hardware resolution of any given monitor does not change.
That, in itself, has nothing to do with the fact that you are saving as GIF. Here's the thing:
You say you are getting undesirable results
when you save the design as GIF. That implies that you see something inferior when viewing the GIF, compared to what you see on your screen in Illustrator. If so, do this:
    1. Open the design in Illustrator. Zoom it until the image on your screen is the size you want it to be viewed on a web page. Does the text look good to you? Okay, then...
    2. Take a screenshot. Paste it into whatever raster program you are using. When viewed at 1:1 zoom (one image pixel per screen pixel), you will see the same thing that you saw in Illustrator. In other words, you captured it with the same text anti-aliasing that Illustrator uses to render its screen.
Save it as GIF. Use the GIF options to minimize the number of colors in the color lookup table, but only reduce the number of colors so far that the reduction does not visibly degrade the image.
    3. Link the image in your HTML
without a scale factor. If you use the captured image at anything smaller than 100%, then the browser or OS is going to have to do its own interpolation to re-render it to the now mis-matched resolution of the screen. That will not look good.
If I'm not doing any "clear pixel" transparency, etc. (your sample image doesn't imply the need for it), I usually don't even futz with Illustrator's Save For Web or export when I want a web-ready image of something I drew in Illustrator. I usually just zoom to the desired on-screen size, take a screenshot, and save it as PNG or JPEG or GIF. (I'm on Windows, so I use a handly litte screenshot utility, SnagIt.)

  • AdobeAcrobatPro: Downloaded pdf's are much smaller than scanned ones. How to get scanned ones to be fewer px and not lose quality?

I have several accounts which post .pdf's to be downloaded. These are good quality and are small (kb) files.
I find when I scan paper documents, they have huge pixelation... and as I make them smaller, they lose readability.
I've tried to scan at 72px-300px. I've tried to save as .jpg which was then added to a .docx. I've tried to simply save as .pdf all from photoshop.
Is there a way to get the quality of a downloaded .pdf document and it's low pixelation when starting from a paper document which must be scanned?
I have a Canon CanoScan Lide 100. and I'm using Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 as well as Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Generally, if you want best quality you don't start with a scan. It's just a HUGE picture.
But you can try the "text recognition" feature of Acrobat ("OCR"). Be sure to experiment with the settings, they have huge effects on the result.
For OCR to work you need good quality scans of good quality originals using common fonts in an expected way (e.g. a page from a magazine).

  • How can I transfer photos from my  iMac to my iPad and not lose the ones already stored on the iPad.

How can I transfer photos from my  iMac to my iPad and not lose the ones already stored on the iPad?  When using iTunes to sync a folder from the iMac to the iPad it always removes anything previously synced.
    Help appreciated
    David

I've just found out the reason for this behaviour. I am syncing from a computer which is different to the one I first synced with. iTunes can't cope with this situation so deletes anything synced from another source.

It's either in local folders, as it seem you had been doing, or in icloud.  If you go into the mac's Pages and view the icloud files, you can drag on onto another to create a folder.  But you can only have folder one level deep, so you can't organize your files/folders like you can on a mac, using nested folder several levels deep.

You can't reformat it and not wipe everything on it.
Have you tried a different USB port?
Only other option, back it up on a different computer.
