we are using 11i (11.5.10.2) and I checked in the same tab "expnd/costing" tab only (in Setup > System > Implemenion Options). But there is no check boxes as "Import Contingent Worker Timecards with Purchase Order Integration" and "Interface Contingent Worker Labor Costs".
Is there any profile options related to enable these options?
Please advise.

How to use a non-Oracle database?

Oracle Lite is used as the database per default. Technical
notes describe how to use Oracle 9i. I'm more interested in using more light-weight RDBMSes like HSQLDB for example. It is been said that Oracle BPEL supports Oracle, Oracle Lite, DB2, SQL Server and Pointbase. Now how to configure Oracle BPEL to use each of the non-Oracle datbases listed above?

I've managed to setup the PM to use Pointbase rather than the default Oracle Lite. Along the way, several questions came up:
1. Since the directory system\database\scripts already provides DDL scripts for Pointbase, creating the tables of a Pointbase database was easy. However, I wonder why you don't support HSQL. After all, OC4J supports HSQL data sources (see database-schemas\hypersonic.xml). Are there any features required by Oracle BPEL that are not provided by HSQL? If not, can we just use the Pointbase DDL scripts for HSQL?
2. Editing the data-sources.xml file also wasn't a big deal although templates for Pointbase were missing. BTW, my XML editor reports the data-sources.xml file to be invalid: "Document cannot be stand-alone because default-value attribute 'connection-retry-interval' is not explicitly assigned.
3. The changes in StartOraBPEL.bat were:
- Comment out running kill_olite.bat and start_olite.bat
- Start the Pointbase server (rather than Oracle Lite)
4. The needed changes in obsetenv.bat were not that obvious: It was required to add the Pointbase libs to the BOOT_LIB classpath. Otherwise the Pointbase driver cannot be loaded. To be on the safe side, I've also added the Pointbase libs to the MY_CLASSPATH classpath but I'm not sure if that is really required. Is it?
5. Finally, it would be good if shutting down the Pointbase server could be done in a similar fashion as that is configured for Oracle Lite. Apparently, some sort of hooking is used. Now how to setup a shutdown hook for a Pointbase server?

CATS - How to enter times of an employee who works for 2 different Org Unit

Hi,
I am able to successfully enter times for an employee and do the approval process (CAT4) and CAT6 and I can see the records getting updated in PA30.
Scenario :
Employee works for 2 different Org Units and should be able to enter his time through Timesheet. Eg: Employee A spends 6 Hours working in Department B1 & 3 Hours in Dept B2.
The Manager of B1 should only be able to approve 6 Hours of Employee A
The Manager of B2 should only be able to approve 6 Hours of Employee A
Can somebody help me out how this can be achieved?

Thank you for the response. Yes, when I report the times for 2 different org units I would also want the cost for that employee distributed between org units.
I tried your solution-> by entering times in CAT2 for Employee A for 2 different Cost Centers that I created.
For Department B1 --> In CAT2 I entered Cost center C1 : 6 Hours
For Department B2 -->In CAT2 I entered Cost center C2 : 4 Hours
When I go to CAT4 and try to select the employee for approval and search the employee-A Org unit wise he is displayed only in his original Department -> B1 with 10 hours (6+4). What else do you think needs to be done?
Is this anything to be done with Sender Receiver Cost Centers because the cost center C1,C2 that I created for Org Units B1 & B2 respectively are just Cost Centers. I dont know the difference between Costcenter and Sender Costcenter/Receiver Costcenter.
I will try to explain the scenario again in case I was not clear :
u2022Each employee has their home OU. However these employees may be working with multiple OU each day or the week. So potentially, the time sheet may have to be approved by multiple managers.

How to read a non-oracle environment variable?

I have been trying to read a non-oracle environment variable using TOOL_ENV.GETVAR, and have come to understand that it doesn't work. Is there another function that can do what I want? I don't want to hardcode the directory the forms and reports must reside in, but can't find anyway to make this value flexible.

I figured out a way. I put a String in the registry in the oracle home area, and can read it with TOOL_ENV.GETVAR now. It appears that it reads from the registry, not the environment variables. Except for unix apparently, where it reads environment variables.

Configuration of XSQL for use with non-Oracle dbs

If anyone has positive experiences with configuring XSQL for use with non Oracle databases I'd like to hear how they did it, see tutorials, configuration files, etc.
Specifically setting up to use MySQL or Postgresql on Linux/FreeBSD would be very interesting.
Also, does anyone use this without setting mime types? How would you go about this so you could point to the relevant servlets in the page?

I don't understand how setting up for Non-Oracle DB's is related to not setting up the servlet as an extension-mapped servlet.
It might work, but would you run JSP's
that way? XSQL behaves very similiarly
inside to how a JSP runner works, which
wants to be servlet-mapped.
However, OAS 4.0.8.1 does not support
extension mapping and XSQL works there
so i'm assuming it would work on other

How to enter the database in oracle 11g!!

Hi all,
I have installed Oracle 11g , and the SCOTT,SYS,SYSTEM account are locked ( I guess) as i am UNABLE TO ENTER THE DATABASE.
When I open SQL+ , a cmd prompt will appear requesting username ( for which I tried SYS,SYSTEM,SCOTT) upon pressing enter, it request's password ,HERE IS THE PROBLEM .What every i try to enter in the password field, doesn’t get displayed there ,I thick its not accepting anything at all.
I tried sys as sysdba as the username ,didn't work either(insufficent privilages)(windows info: OS-XP sp2, account- administrator),as I am new to SQL Kindly ,SUGGEST ME , HOW TO ENTER THE DATABASE.

How to enter non-ASCII symbols in a JTextArea

A user asked me a question today that I have been unable to answer from a Google search or review of the Java documentation. If an application has a JTextArea and the user operating an American-style keyboard wishes to enter a non-ASCII character (a tilde, an accented e, an umlaut, a copyright symbol, etc.), are there key sequences that will allow him to do so? I was thinking that there might be some kind of alt key combination that would let him enter unicode values. Is anything like that supported?

Throwback that I am, I'm running under Windows-XP. My results were a bit spotty, I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has different results.
Microsoft describes two techniques for enterring "special" characters my typing numeric values. The best description I found was at http://www.windowsvistasecret.net/secret.asp?haber=54 Also, there is a page with a nice table of symbol values at http://www.irongeek.com/alt-numpad-ascii-key-combos-and-chart.html (the author recommends using alternate key codes for passwords, but given my mixed success with the technique, that seems a bit risky).
Anyway, the first method is to turn the num lock on and then enter ALT followed by a three digit decimal code value for the character string (you must enter the values on the number keypad, not the main keypad). This seems to work great in a Java text field. There is an alternate method, where you can specify a hexadecimal unicode value by typing a string in the form U+00A9 and then pressing ALT-X. This requires a special registry setting which may not be the default on you computer. For me, at least, it works in WordPad, but not in the JTextArea.
Finally, I think that the engineer at Microsoft who decided to name this technique the Alt<+>xxx key sequence had a pretty twisted sense of humor. You can guess what a Google search yields for "ALT XXX".
Tomorrow, when I have access to a Linux machine, I'll have to revisit this. Thanks again for all your help.

How to install HCM 9.2 demo database for non oracle platform

i am new to peoplesoft. We are planning for an upgrade to hcm 9.2 and peopletools 8.53. We are currently on 9.0 and peopletools 8.51 and SQL platform.
i understand we have to creat a demo the old fashion way for SQL. I cannot find any required at upgrade and required at install fixes. Can someone please go over the process really quickly in brief and where I can find them. The upgrade home page does not talk anything about non oracle based platforms.
We are preparing to install tools. What will be the next step after installing tools?
I have signed up with oracle university for training but that is not taking place for another 4 weeks.

Hi , you don't need to be confused as installing Oracle PeopleSoft is not hard as many would think. Most of the steps are clearly documented and with proper resources can be learnt very easily.
Here is an overview of steps that you would need to follow
Install Tools
Install Application CD
Create Database
Edit and Run Database Scripts e.g utlspace, hcddl, psroles,psadmin, connect.. etc.
Copy Projects (PPLTLS84CUR, ..) , Run AE programs, Execute dms scripts etc.

How to set "administration" privileges to a non-oracle user

Hi, I like to know if exist any paper or best practice to set administation privileges to a non-oracle user.
Where I work, I've the oracle user and I can run any administration task, but I want, for example, that any developer can deploy a war in the "developer environment", whatever I wan't they can change opmn.xml setting or touch another instance in the same server.

Problem in connecting Non Oracle Database from Oracle

I want to access "MS ACCESS" from Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1) using Windows XP.
I tried my best, applied all proper instructions I found from books and from Internet, but getting an error.
Here is what I did:
My Oracle database is called "ORCL" and "MS ACCESS" is called "access_1".
There is only one table "Employees" in "access_1".

Complex plugins and non-oracle component active management

Hi guys
I'm a newbie to OEM Grid Control and I need your assitance in the following subject.
My question is - is there any possibility to develop complex plugins with dynamic behavior and that would allow me not only to MONITOR (i.e. observe metrics of) some non-oracle component but also to MANAGE it.
To explain my question, I'll give you an example.
I've developed plugin for IBM MQSeries that does simple thing: it displays a list of queues and their current depth (number of messages currently in a queue) and fullness percentage of each queue. Once the percentage exceeds warning (70%) or critical (90%) threshold, an alert gets fired. Works fine and looks fine.
But I also need a possibility to click on a queue name and get to another screen that will show me a list of messages in a chosen queue. Further I need a possibility to filter messages by entering, say, JMS Message Selector expression. Further I need a possibility to select some messages (e.g. using checkboxes) and, say, remove them from a queue.
As we see, this is a "dynamic" functionality by nature, because the list of queues may change as well as a set of messages in any queue may change.
Questions:
1). Is there any way to implement such a plugin or set of plugins?
2). If there's a way, could you please suggest or provide links to any documentation in this respect? Where can I read/learn about writing such plugins?

Extensibility of EM has always concentrated on the monitoring aspect for external software/hardware because data and its collection can be abstracted to the point where EM can get it and display it for a variety of products.
Management of those products tends to be much more complex since each target will have its own operations and workflows for how to get things done. So whatever administration tools delivered with the product will always be better suited than EM to do administration since it knows exactly what it has to do.
That's not to say that you can't do management through EM. The job system is robust and allows you to run OS command jobs that would enable scripts you have to do the management. In the 10.2.0.3 release, you will be able to create new job types that are specific to your target type.
As for the particular case you cited, I would create a new metric with queue name and message id as a key. Then you could create a report that displays messages from a certain queue or drill down into the All Metrics page to look at the messages for a particular queue. Then create a job that takes as input enough information to delete a message or messages from a queue (you'd have to write the script that would do that).

How do you add non-Garage band instruments into a Logic project so that you can hear them on playback?

How do you add non-Garage band instruments (orchestral instruments) into a Logic Pro (8) project so that you can hear those insrtruments' sounds on playback? I've tried to understand and follow the Logic Pro 8 User Manual, but the process comes off as so complex and the writing so technical that it does not help but only confuses.
To be precise - I want to add instruments (orchestral) that are not offered in the current Garage band menu which is offered in the Mixer's channel strip menus for Logic Pro 8. To be clear, the instruments that are offered are Bass / Drum Kits / Guitars / Mallets / Organs / Pianos and Keyboards / Synth Basics / Synth Leads / Synth Pads. Most of these that I've tried seem to work and give their characteristic sound when placed in a particular channel and playback is clicked.
However - there is one orchestra instrument offered in the standard Logic Pro 8 Mixer channel menu and it's the item labelled "Performance - 000 flute 1 or 001 flute 1." And it is this instrument that presents a problem. When I click on it and choose it from the menu and enter it as the instrument of choice for a specfic channel / track in my Logic Pro project arrangement, when playing back the music for the overall piece this particular track, the flute, does not playback and produce the notes (Midi events) in the track in the sound of the flute. Instead, nothing comes out at all. I can't imagine why this does not work. Any ideas, anyone? Again, when choosing this instrument for a track and clicking the playback no flute sound is forthcoming. Why not? I have not tried them all, but when most of the other various types of keyboards, such as an electric piano or an organ, are chosen for a track the playback successfully renders the sound of these instruments. Why then does playback not produce the sound of the flute when it has clearly been chosen to play and sound the Midi events given it?
Anyway, the overall, larger issue for me is the inability I have to choose and get non-Garageband instruments (largely orchestral) to play the Midi events given on various tracks. If my guess is correct then technically, orchestral instruments not offered in the standard Logic Pro 8 Garageband Mixer channel menu are referred to as external Midi sampled instruments - still, IMHO the process is not clearly spelled out in the User Manual. The simple step by step process whereby a non-Garage band instrument, say an orchestral instrument, is placed in a channel replete with Midi event (notes) waiting to be played should be easy, logical and given in a simple to follow format, but is not.
What with all the talk of routes, busses, auxillary channels, GM devices, GM mixers, audio bins, libraries and audio files this Logic Pro User is confused to the max. Can someone please help me and, in simple English, describe the step by step process whereby presumably external sampled orchestral instruments can be successfully employed, in any given Logic Pro arrangement project, to render their characteristic sounds upon playback?
On my two Macs, one a laptop and one a much larger Mac, I have any number of the GSO (Garritan Symphony Orceshtra) and Vienna Symphony Orchestra instrument library samples - and yet - I've yet to figure out how to actually get them INTO a Logic Pro project of any kind! To put this as a question, even as a humble request, how can I make good use of these orchestral sample libraries in a Logic Pro project? Can someone steer my to a clear resolution of this issue. David, you understand that this is professional software and is not necessarily meant to be easy but is in fact designed to give the professional user as many choices as possible, that's why it's in the Pro Apps section. You WILL need to learn about buses, GM Devices, Audio Bins, Libraries...etc..etc if you intend to use Logic.
That said, you are looking in the wrong place in the channel strip.

Like 6 time Click Submit. That data will save in ECC.
So I was taken table. But in that Table only first row will be editable. I want all 6 will editable that time he will put data in rows then click on submit.
How to editable these remaining rows? if u have any documents pls send me.

Dear Vijay,
To enter multiple inputs in a table and to make the other rows editable you have to provide that node with initial values.
by initial values I mean you have to make that much space in your table node.
For example the name of Node is yourNode & you have empid, name, sal ,firstname, last Name
attributes in that node, and you have to make 6 rows editable.
Then, simply write this code in you wdDoinit() method of your view controller.
IPrivateYourView.IYourNodeElement e ;
for(int i = 0 ; i < 6 ; i++ )
e = wdContext.nodeYourNode().createYourNodeElement();
e.setAttributeValue("empid" , "") ;
e.setAttributeValue("name" , "") ;
e.setAttributeValue("sal" , "") ;
e.setAttributeValue("firstname" , "") ;
e.setAttributeValue("lastname" , "") ;
wdContext.nodeOverTimeEnty().addElement(e) ;
Change YourView with your view name & YourNode with your node name.
If you have any problem in doing this you can revert back.
