How to enter BIOS settings on my Satellite Pro S300?

Hi
It can look stupid but I'm trying to access to the BIOS menu on my TOSHIBA Satellite Pro S300-EZ1511 and i can't, i searched for that on the manual but i couldn't find anything.
I need to go there so i can change the SATA settings to IDE so i can install windows XP system after i formatted the Vista.
Thanks

It should be in the Users Manual somewhere.
Turn on the laptop, and hold down the ESC key. Then press F1 when it prompts you.

  • How to enter BIOS settings on my Satellite 5205-S503?

Ok I have a Satellite 5205t -S503. I want to boot using CD so it can install my WXP disc but it will not let me boot from the CD and I cant get to the BIOS.
I tried the ESC F1 and it just says: set value (Y/N)
When I type Y it just restarts and goes right back to the Toshiba screen.
When I type N it says: NTLDR is missing press key to restart.
When I also try the ESC with the power button it does the same thing.
How can I get to the bios /and or boot from CD ?

    Hi
As Im not mistaken the Satellite 52xx series was equipped with the Toshiba BIOS and the ESC button should works to access the BIOS default settings.
Anyway, there is also another possibility to boot from the CD drive.
You can press the F12 button immediately after notebook starting and then a boot menu should appear. Then you could choose the ODD as a booting source.
But back to the error message NTLDR is missing press key to restart
It looks like an HDD malfunction
I have searched a little bit in the forum and found these useful threads:

  • How to enter BIOS settings on Equium L10?

Please can someone tell me what button i press too get into the bios setup at the start when i switch my pc on cos i have tried every thing, but nothing works.

    Hello
Every time when you switch the notebook ON you can see at the bottom left hand site the short instruction how to enter BIOS settings. In your case you must use F2 button. Please keep it down immediately after switching the notebook ON.
Generally the Toshiba notebooks are delivered with two different BIOS versions (BIOS producer):
    - TOSHIBA BIOS: enter using ESC and F1 button
    - Phoenix BIOS: enter using F2 button.
According the specification your unit has Phoenix BIOS.

  • Satellite C55-A-19D - How to enter BIOS settings?

    Hello,
I have recently bought a *Satellite C55-A-19D* notebook with no OS preinstalled, so I have installed Windows 8.1.
My problem is that *I can not access to the BIOS menu*.
I turn the computer on, but I can not see any invitation to "press the F2 key to enter setup". I am only receiving a screen that just has the +Toshiba Leading Innovation >>>+ notice, and then the Windows 8 spinning dots...
I can tap or hold F2/F12/ESC/DEL but nothing is coming up. I have also tried to press Fn+F2 combination.
What should I to get into the BIOS setup?
    Thanks in advance!

Perform complete shutdown as described here - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
After doing this start your notebook again and press F12. There you should have option to enter BIOS settings.
    Check it out.

  • How to boot from SD-card on Satellite Pro S300?

My windows 7 32bit based S300 has a build-in SD card reader. The Toshiba utility for making the SD card bootable comes with an error message stating Fault: 00-61-FF02-26.
Is does not see or recognize the card.
In the BIOS version 3.00 WIN there is also no possilility for booting from SD card.
The SD card can be formatted and you can read and write to the card.
    Why is this not possible?

As far as I know the BIOS of the Satellite Pro S300 supports the following bootable devices:
    - USB FDD,
    - Primary HDD,
    - ODD (or USB ODD),
    - Network(LAN),
    - SD-CARD,
    - USB Memory, supported at the same time
So BIOS provides the booting from SD card.
    You should try following way:
Insert the SD card in the SD card slot and then power up the notebook.
Then press F12 in order to get the boot menu. Now the SD card should appear in the menu

  • How to enter BIOS mode on Satellite 5200?

    Hello!
I own a Satellite 5200-801 and Ive recently bought a new CD/DVD - rom cause the original just died. The thing is that the drive I bought is from US market and my laptop is European. So Ive double checked all the serial numbers on it and everything was correct except the manufacture serial number that I suppose makes no difference to be different.
My problem is that when I install it the light indicator flashes normal but when it boots it shoes IDE error boot and windows doesnt see it at all. Do u know how can I enter BIOS setting to change master/slave cause I believe that there is a difference among them at this point....the original is master and the second is csel.
Also is there a key to enter BIOS because I cant enter at all no matter key combinations. Finally if I change the reading head of the DVD/ROM and put back the original would make the change I need?
    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!

As far as I know you cannot change anything in BIOS but check it again. To enter BIOS settings press ESC button at start up.
    Good luck!

    Hi.
Have you read the User Manual? I think it will be somewhere in the book. However, for this gen, you can access BIOS by F2 and boot up list with F12

    Hello @assail_hawk
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.
Even though this is a Commercial product, I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. This will restore the original BIOS.
    Thanks.

  • Satellite Pro S300 - HDD in caddy is not recognized by BIOS

I have replaced the original HDD and installed a new SSD which works fine.
Installed the W7Pro and all updates.
I do not use my CD-Writer so I replaced the CD-drive and installed a caddy with my old HDD to have more diskspace.
When I boot my laptop I see a message CD-ROM ERROR.
In device manager the caddy and or the HDD are not shown.
I tried to change settings in the BIOS (according Toshiba utility the latest version) but even in the Bios is no information about the present SSD or the installed HDD. (or the CD-Drive when I re-install this drive again)
What is wrong here? Do I need an updated BIOS that allows the 2nd HDD?
Or do I overlook a setting somewhere?
NB In the BIOS the HDD drive settingis according ACPI, in the listing below it is mentioned as IDE device.
When I enter in the BIOS IDE in stead of ACPI I still see the CD-ROM ERROR during boot and after this message the screen is blue and no further activity.

Thank you for the help sofar.
Indeed I do have a third party caddy. I first bought one (no brand) at MyCom. At MyCom I was told that that unit would work on my Toshiba. Well, it didn't so I returned the caddy.
Then I contacted the company note bookcaddy through internet.
They thought it should work and they have sent me a new caddy from their brand (without payment; just to try!)
They have tried a lot to help me make this unit work. But it failed until now.
Does the bios check for the message that the CD-drive is available and does it not except the message from the HDD device that it is not a CD-Drive?
Maybe I only have to change the wiring inside the caddy to let the Bios think there is a drive present?
