How to enter bios Setup (not the F1 stuff, the splash screen display settings)

So I some how got into a seperate bios setting program by pressing ctrl S when some other bios utility was loading and changed the splash screen display (how long it shows the press enter stuff)
but now I have no idea how to get back into that configruator.
the Manual doesn't mention it, so question, how do I bloody do it?

Hello
Every time when you switch the notebook ON you can see at the bottom left hand site the short instruction how to enter BIOS settings. In your case you must use F2 button. Please keep it down immediately after switching the notebook ON.
Generally the Toshiba notebooks are delivered with two different BIOS versions (BIOS producer):
- TOSHIBA BIOS: enter using ESC and F1 button
- Phoenix BIOS: enter using F2 button.
According the specification your unit has Phoenix BIOS.

Maybe you're using hibernation? Try simply log into sytem and then shut down (not hibernate). After this maybe the issue will go away.

AR15 wrote:I had exactly the problem you described. It happened after I told Windows to "turn off" but then immediately closed the lid (sending it to sleep instead of turning it off).  I then installed a new hard drive.  When I powered back on, the machine would no longer display the prompt to press F2 on the Lenovo POST screen.  I'm guessing that this is so the computer will resume Windows as quickly as possible. I tried removing the battery, hard drive, leaving it unplugged for a while, etc.  Nothing helped. I put in the original hard drive, resumed Windows, and did a proper shut down in Windows. When I powered back on, the F2 prompt returned!    As to what you should do...I'm guessing you too should try to boot back into Windows and do a proper shut down.  Then see if the F2 prompt returns. Let us know how you make out! my case is similar to yours, but i have reformatted the original hdd.  and i tried a shutdown and turn on, it didn't work.

  • Cannot enter BIOS setup

I bought a new msi amd motherboard it cannot go into cmos BIOS setup it just says entering setup and it doesnt go any further, I have the pc down to barebones memory cpu and msi board.
I have reset bios CMOS with jumper and battery out several times same problem.
Will flashing the bios fix this problem or could it be that I found the memory is 1.65 volt and should of been 1.5 volt thought everything was recognized and working until windows7 said it completed its installation.
Edited title, correct terminology is BIOS setup not CMOS.

I have the same issue. After having pressed the Del key during booting up -  the computer hangs with "Entering Setup" shown in the bottom left of the screen.

By the way: If you press F12 you can select the boot device. Therefore its not necessary to enter the BIOS. :)

  • How to Enter Bios on Toshiba E45T-B4204

    Hi, i have Toshiba E45T-B4204
I want to enter Bios Setup, i tried Hold F2 or tap repeat F2 and it didn't work
is there any solution for this issue?
    Thanks

The easiest way to enter the UEFI is from within Windows.
Settings > Change PC settings > Update and recovery tab > Recovery tab > Restart now button > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings
F2 on boot works when you shut down Windows completely, but Windows 8.x does not do that by default. (It hibernates the kernel instead.) One way to shut down completely is to depress Shift while you click on Shut down. Restart also shuts down completely during the process.

  • 990FXA-GD80 V2 - can't enter BIOS setup

This board has mostly been working fine. I have a FX-8150 in it, and I switched out the fan for a Coolermaster. Now, it boots, but when I try to enter BIOS setup, it hangs on "Starting setup..." (or something like that) at the bottom of the screen.
I have tried clearing the CMOS (including unplugging) a couple times. Not sure what else to try...

Try with the board outside case on a non conductive surface and basic setup (one mem stick, cpu/cooler, psu, vga). Remove all drives and USB devices.
That worked. Thank you. I am able to enter the BIOS setup. But will it still work in the case?
EDIT: I did some searching and this is probably a case shorting. I noticed that one of the brass standoffs had come loose and was still attached to the screw when I took it out. I'm guessing that's what caused the short. I'll be more careful with the standoffs and see if that helps. Thanks for your help.

  • Cant enter Bios Setup with K8N Diamond

Anyone know whats going wrong here ....
K8N Diamond (Bios 1.7), Athlon64 3700+, 2 x 1Gb Corsair XMS-PRO 3200, ATI x300 PCI-E Graphics, 2 x WD 74GB Raptors in Raid 0 on Nvidia Raid, 1 x Samsung 120gb SATA drive on Sil controller. Running Windows x64 on the WD Raid setup and Win2k on the Samsung drive.
Everything running at stock speeds/voltages etc.
Both Windows x64 and Win2k are running stable - absolutely no problems at all. (Use F11 at bootup to select bootup option).
Problem is that I cant get into the bios setup. Pressing F2 at startup just makes the system hang. Anyone any ideas.

What kind of PSU are you using?  List amperage(s) on the +12V-rail(s) also.
Have you tried clearing CMOS? (remove main power plug from PSU first)
When did this problem first appear?
i'm using ATX power supply 500W,  I'm not familiar with amperage stuff so i'll just write the list in the PSU
    INPUT | 115V ~ 10A   60Hz   230V  ~ 5.5A   50Hz
    Output   |   +5V   |   +12V   |   -5V   |   -12V   |   +3.3V   |   +5VSB

Have you read the User Manual? I think it will be somewhere in the book. However, for this gen, you can access BIOS by F2 and boot up list with F12
