How to enter registration of QT Pro 7 on my new iMac...

Hello--
I just bought a new iMac and downloaded QuickTime 7.6.6 (the about window also says it's QuickTime 7.7.1, whatever that means).
Anyway, I want to unlock the Pro features.  I have them on my old iMac.  But the Pro version is on that iMac, I believe, because I had installed Final Cut Studio 2 on it years ago.  I think (but am not sure) that doing that automatically unlocked the Pro features on QuickTime.
I'm not installing Final Cut Studio 2 on my new iMac, so how do I activate QuickTime Pro?  I don't want to pay for something I already have.
Thanks

Hi QuicktTimeKirk--
Yes, but since I do own Final Cut Studio 2, shouldn't I be able to keep QuickTime Player Pro?  I mean, why should I have to buy a registration if I already own it through having purchased Final Cut Studio 2?
I got out my Final Cut Studio 2 disks and tried to start the installation process (because I thought that would activate QuickTime Player Pro on my new iMac, but got this error message window:
I just can't see paying $29 to get QuickTime Player Pro when I already own it.

  • How do I transfer/place my existing Final Cut Pro X on my new iMac?

I have been using Final Cut Pro X on a Mac Book Pro. I just upgraded to an iMac 27". How do I transfer/add my existing download of Final Cut Pro X to my new iMac?

CCopy it from one machine to the other. You can use a jump drive, the app isn't that big. You will have to download the additional content on the other machine.

You shouldn't disable Spotlight completely; Apple's App Store relies on it to keep track of updates to software you've downloaded and permit you to update them when they're available. Instead, in Spotlight preferences, uncheck everything in "Search Results." Spotlight will still run for OS and App Store purposes but won't be useful for your search needs any longer. Instead, check out EasyFind in the App Store. It's fast, flexible, and will search external drives Spotlight hasn't indexed.

We are still on FCP6. We never upgraded to 7, and we have just upgraded our iMacs.
FCP6 does not work with the new iMac and we would like to continue using the older version of of FCP.

You should refrain from repeating this suggestion about Rosetta (especially since you have no direct experience with it).  Much has changed since the time of its discussion back in the introduction of Lion days.
The fact of the matter is that Rosetta has no valid function installed into Lion or Mt. Lion and users have reported serious system problems and crashes after further subsequent modifications and System updates.
There are two safe methods to install FCP6 (FCS2) into Lion or Mt. Lion:
    Use Pacifist:

    Use Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal method:

Don't they show up in the Sound Preferences?  Are they plugged directly into your iMac?
    Little more info would help.

If you mean spreadsheets from within the Numbers app on your iPad to your computer's iTunes then there are instructions here. If you mean that you want to copy the Numbers app from the iPad to your computer then you can copy it to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases; but if you want to use Numbers on your Mac then you will need to buy the Mac OS X version.

How do I translate Word Perfect old files for my new iMac?  They are transferred from a 13-year-old Dell.  My McLink did not work.
    Thanks.

The current version of the free LibreOffice continues to support Word Perfect documents. OpenOffice had to drop this support due to licensing issues. LO installs in two places: /Applications and your local Library/Application Support directory. Simple to install. Simple to remove. Good PDF documentation from their site. It is a capable MS Office replacement.
I just opened a wpd legal deposition in LO and it looked fine.

    Hi ..
No, there isn't but you might want to take a look at refurbished iMacs >  Refurbished Mac Computers - Refurbished Notebooks & Desktop Computers - Apple Store (U.S.)
Refurbished products come with the same one year limited warranty as does a new product.

  • How to set up an existing Yamaha N12 with a new iMac

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me.
I just bought a Yamaha N12 mixer Dec 2009 last month and been trying it with my MacBook Pro. It's firmware has been updated to work with the Yamaha Steinberg FW driver, and it's been communicating fine with the my MacBook Pro.
Now the problem. I just bought an iMac 27' running Mac OS X 10.6.2 last week.
How should I get the N12 to talk to my iMac? What sequence of driver installation should I go about?
Should install all the Tools for n/mLan drivers that came with the N12 installation discs still? And then carry on with installing the Yamaha Steinberg FW driver over it? Or can I straight away install the latest Yamaha Steinberg FW driver?
I'm afraid of technical problems as I might have screwed up my first iMac's firewire 800 port when I installed the Yamaha Steinberg FW driver straight away. Luckily the Mac shop was kind enough and willing to give me a one for one replacement of the iMac due to the firewire port problem. I'm not sure to what extend the firewire800 port problem might have with the FW driver installation or if it was a manufacturing defect. In anycase, its a one-time only exchange. And I now have the replacement iMac, and the firewire800 port is working fine. I'm now hesitant to install anything so that the iMac can talk to my N12 in the worry that it might affect anything if I did the wrong steps especially the firewire 800 port.
Please help if you might know of the correct steps? i just want my N12 to talk to my new iMac without any possible spoiling of my firewire 800 port due to wrong installation steps on my part.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
    Regards,
    BG

What does Yamaha's User Manual says about driver installation? Did you follow the instructions as indicated with your 1st iMac? Are there any notes in the driver installation instructions saying that there is a risk of damaging a FireWire port when you do something in the wrong order? If so, you must follow these instruction carefully in order not to screw up the 2nd iMac, I presume.
However, from my experience, you can't really "screw up" a port by installing a driver. But you must also be aware that the driver has to be suitable for the current operating system of your iMac (that is for Snow Leopard or Mac OSX 10.6.2)

  • Logic Pro 8 transfer to new iMac

I just bought a new iMac 5K and want to transfer my Logic Pro 8.
When I start up Logic it asks me for the serial number. I have looked thru the original package and can't find a serial number.
I copied down the serial number of LP8 on my old MacPro but it doesn't seem to work.
How do I go about it? Where do I go or who do I contact?

    This is tough but true…...
I wouldn't bother tracking down your serial as Logic 8 does not work on Yosemite 10.10.x.
The 'oldest' version of Logic that will work on your new machine is 9.1.8 but even with the newest version of Logic X a lot of people are having a lot of issues on 10.10.x.
Either way, 8 will not work. Sorry to be the barer of bad news.
