How to enter Unicode font in a Word document

I am trying to input non-English symbols/characters into a document. A colleague who uses Windows wrote that in Word, you input a character by using their Unicode number, highlighting it, and doing Alt-X. For example, enter 025A, highlight it, and you get the IPA symbol for the r-coloured schwa as in fathER. On my Mac keyboard (US), Alt/Option-X does not do the trick. Is there another keystroke sequence that works?

I was thinking of trying your "fun" keyboard xxxlpxuxnx.keylayout but don't know how to download it (probably better not to distract myself any more). I've been to the http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/diacritics.html before, and I see it doesn't include the "r" colored vowels in American English as in "nurse" ɝ and "doctor" ɚ (commonly shown as "er" in American dictionaries). I'm glad to find them in IPA Unicode keyboard I downloaded from SIL. I wish to find a keystroke combination to get them since copying them from Favorites and inserting them one by one is slo-o-ow
On my international e-list of English pronunciation experts, as a Mac user, I always feel a need to defend against the Windows users' disparaging remarks, so even though I don't currently need to type a lot of IPA, I am trying to figure out how to do what you wrote in the first paragraph. I went to system prefs/international/input menu and checked the box for Unicode Hex Input and then selected that in the "flag" menu at the top right of the finder. The part I got stuck at is "Then you can type any Unicode character via Option/Alt + its hex code." I tried in Word 2004 and TextEdit: (1) typed the code 025A, selected it and keyed OPT-X and (2) keyed OPT-X and then typed the code 025A. Neither resulted in the ɚ "er" symbol. So maybe my steps are wrong.

Hi frenchiem,
This is due to the PDF file cannot display the original fonts. To fix it, creator should create the PDF file with the embed font option enabled. Thus, user can open the file on any platform with the same layout. Or the Acrobat product can display them after you install the appropriate font support package on the client side.

I had created a normal unicode Pdf form. IT shows perfectly.
But when i make this form as a fillable pdf the unicode charaters converts into junk and the form is become unreadable.
Attached here a normal unicode pdf form. As well as form_fillable.pdf which is junked after created a fillable

Font problem creating WORD document with Oracle Reports 8i/9i

I created a report using different Arial fonts. Once the report is generated from a .NET application, the fonts in the word document are changed apparently into Helvetica. This disarrange my lay-out completely. How can I solve this problem?
(NB. when I generate a PDF, there is no problem!)

By the way. I create the files in this way:

Two days before I have acquired a HP 1020 Plus Laserjet printer . How to duplex print from a MS Word document and Corel Draw document in HP 1020 Plus printer? I tried manual duplex printing by printing the odd pages first and then even pages ....it came out correct ,...but whenit comes to Page numbers continuity it is not properly printed ....why?? Can anyone highlight on this and give me a step by step instructuion to print Duplex and thereby help me to create 20-----------page or 30 page booklets.....from MS word typed document or corel draw document......Expecting a speedy solution

The laserjet 1020 only has manual duplexing capabilities. Please refer to this document for a complete set of instructions.
Print on both sides of the paper (manual duplexing)

Download and read page 27 on creating and using Styles, which is done largely by example ie you make the text what you want then save it as a Style to be applied wherever you want in the document from the Styles Drawer.

The Notes features of the 3G iPod Nano only supports TXT files and not Word Documents. If you want to be able to read these word documents, you'll need to copy the text from each over to a text file. See here for more information.

You can use Microsoft Word's inbuilt feature of converting the doc to pdf by simply selecting Save As> 'pdf doc format' from the drop down.

Adobe Reader does not have the capability of converting docs to pdf or vice versa. It can only be used to read pdf files.

that is, if there are entries in document "hello 1234", then the search all words will identify it as two words "hello" and "1234". and then I check with regular expressions where the numbers.. ?
ps. and I have not found yet any command, that replace the founded text from javascript))
