How to enter values for an Info-object Manually.

Hi
I have to enter certan values manually in the customised info-object which are not available in the
BW at the moment.
If I go via SE11 I am only getting change option.
If I go via SM30 it says The maintenance dialog for ****** is incomplete or not defined.
How can I enter certain values to this info-object.
Please advise.

Use transaction rsdmd to maintain infoobject values - or right click any infoobject an select maintain master data.

It is easy to use a table maintainance to enter values to a database table....
if you have a table maintainace generator and you are not able to see the newly added field here is the reason
Everytime you add a new field , the table maintainance needs to be regenerated..The reason is that the screen you are using in the table maintainance is created within a program with respect to the fucntion group and not directly linked to the table..whenever you change the table,the function group is not affected and changes are not reflected in the table maintainance , so you have to regenerate by utilities-> table maintainance generator in sell for that table..once you do it , the function group assigned to the table automatically creates a new one with the latest fields added

How to create variables for Characteristic Info-objects in Rows / Columns

I want to create variables in abovementioned manner for COPA retraction in BPS, as COPA retraction does not recognise variables created in "filter" section of Bex. Can sumone advise , as I have tried all the possibilities of creating but failed to do so?

Actually my problem will be solved if I am able to create variables in either Rows/Columns area of BeX.
Variables are getting created easily in Filter section of BeX (but in COPA , it will not serve any purpose COPA retraction does not recognise contents of Filter/variables contained in the filter).
In fact variables are getting created in Rows/Colums of Bex, but they are in the form of structures. (Again multiple structures (more than 1) are not recognised in COPA retraction.

How to dispay the text values of the info objects in my transformations

Can any one say how to do a lookup for a text table. For example for a particular customer number i need to get the customer name from the text table.In the same way i need to display the text values of the info objects in my transformations. It would be great if any one could send me the code.

Thanks for the immediate reply Anshul, Actually i am having the fields of short description and long description in my text table, my requirement is to display only the long description data in the text table. So it would be great if you could get me the solution.

How to display texts automatic. besides entered value for a field in Trans.

How to display texts automatically besides the entered value for a field in a standard transaction screen. For example you have a value table and a text table associated to it. Then on entering the value field and pressing enter the text associated should get displayed immediately besides the value. Like if you have 'LOC' as the value and 'Location' as the text associated to it, on entering this value 'LOC', you automatically get the text 'Location' printed besides it automatically in a transaction screen ?

1. first of all, such display of text,
   is not automatic.
   (it appears to be automatic)
2. At design time,
   a) take one extra field for text
     and mark it as OUTPUT ONLY
3. Then in PBO coding,
    call some module, and in that module
    write code
4. The code should be to
   select from TEXT Table
   into the work area.
EG. THE SCREEN TEXT FIELD NAME IS
T510A-FIELDNAME.
CLEAR t510a.
SELECT SINGLE * FROM t510a INTO t510a
WHERE trfar = FIELVALUE.
5. This will take care of
   displaying the text value of that field.

How to create master data/text for an info object

Hi All,
I am working on a report and having a problem with an info object since it has no master data. This characteristic is supposed to be in the selection parameters and also should contain key and text in it. Since there is no master data for this info object there is no text and keys don't come up. Does any one knows how to add master data to this info object without reloading the ODS?

You shold load the master data into BW first,
othere wise you can do one thing
goto infopackage and schedule where in the update tab select the radio button
Always update the data,even if no masterdata is exist for that.

Leading single ZERO for char info object

Hi All,
I have a info object which is having characteristic value. It is getting values like this

065435
when it is coming to BW the ZEROs are skipped can some one help to get this value as it is.
IF iam having alpha converision then it add zeros as many has characteristic length define.

HI,
Check if you are using any conversion in the data source.
Also when you are trying to check the data, select the "do not use conversion" option to view the data.
because if you are using a char data type for the info object you're using, the leading zeroes would be as it is.

Getting an error while activating a planning area "Enter values for planning horizon From and planning horizon To for the storage time profile level"

Dear S&OP community,
I am getting following error while creating a planning ares in a newly installed sandbox. "Enter values for planning horizon From and planning horizon To for the storage time profile level".
This what I did...
1) Created new attributes and master data objects and activated them successfully.
2) Time profile created and activated successfully
3) Trying to create planing area by assigning time profile in step 2 and assigned master data from step1..Unable to save the data and system returns
this error - "Enter values for planning horizon From and planning horizon To for the storage time profile level"
My understanding is time profile needs to be active but doesn't have to have values...
Any help is appreciated.

I checked with the screen and report which is mentioned by you. But I want to modify/make changes that should appear in the screen when you view details for a particualar employee in Qualifications(IT0024).
Please refer the screen 2000 of module pool MP002400 in SE80. In that screen I want to make change as listbox with key.
Can it be achieved in the same way as mentioned by you before by making standard SAP report as Z and then modify using layout editor?
Please help me out. I think I am almost there.

How to enter values to a database table with data type 'LCHR'?

Hello All,
I have created a database table with five fields, of which the last field is 'Value' field in which i have to enter text with a maximum of 1000characters. I have also specified a 'Length' field preceding the 'Value' field.
The datatype specified for the 'Length' field is 'INT2' and for the value field is 'LCHR' with length 1000.
When i tried inserting values to the table through a report, the report is giving an error that 'Literals that take up more than one line are not permitted', which means 255characters.
Also, when i entered a short text which is less than 250 characters to the 'Value' field,, the report is working fine and the table entry is visible.
Can anyone help me in this?
It would be really helpful if you explain how to use 'LCHR' data type in tables and how to enter values to such a field with more than 255characters.

you can use STRING instead of LCHR.
I too have tried with LCHR and am facing the same issue.. i am not sure why its coming..
i have tried STRING and its working perfectly.
wa-key_field = 'IN4'.
CONCATENATE 'Long text over 200 chars length '
              'another Long text over 200 chars length '
              'another Long text over 200 chars length '
              INTO wa-long_text.
wa-len = strlen( wa-long_text ).
INSERT zshino_table from wa.

      WRITE:/ wa-len, ' ' , wa-long_text.

Also, remember to set the type of the database field as String.

Generating export datasource for an info object

Hello Guys
I am working on BW 3.5. I need to generate an export data source for an infoobject so that I can load its texts into another target IO. When I go into the infosources tab, and right click on the particular IO, it gives me the option of creating an export data source.
My question is: How do i transport this data source from DEV --> QA? Do we have to re-create the export data source in each system individually, ie DEV, QA and PROD.
Secondly, when I could see the export data source in the the BWQ source system, i tried moving the transfer rules for the DS to the target IO and it gave an error.
Error message:
Mapping between data source 80CRED_GROUPT and source system BWQCLNT100 is inconsistent
Field CRED_GROUP will not be delivered from DataSource 80CRED_GROUPT in source system BWQCLNT100
Field C_CTR_AREA will not be delivered from DataSource 80CRED_GROUPT in source system BWQCLNT100
Field LANGU will not be delivered from DataSource 80CRED_GROUPT in source system BWQCLNT100
Field TXTMD will not be delivered from DataSource 80CRED_GROUPT in source system BWQCLNT100
Why is this happening? And as i asked before, can i transport an export DS or do I create it in each environment individually? Please note: This is an export DS for an info object.

You can transport the export data source across the landscape(Dev to QA).
You do not eed to generate it in each system.
Also ensure that the conversion of logical system names or the source system names has been maintained.
You are right it looks like the data source creation was a problem hence it is not alllowing importing transfer rules.
You may try to recollect the export data source and transport and then once it is transported successfully replicate metadata of the self system.
Now transport the transfer rules.

You can use read_text function module for readind text of material and store this value in internal table later pass this internal table to smartform will solve your problem.
otherwise there is direct option for text element property that is include text u can use that also

I need to know how to bind values for input parameters to methods.
I have created an af:table and I have a button created using a method which is outside the af:table. This method needs to take input parameter values from the column values in the table.
When I have an adf form instead of the table the binding works.
Any help?

Hi Balaji,
you need to bind you table to a backing bean and call a method in the backing bean when you hit the button. In the method you get the selected row from the table and have access to the columns of it. Then call the the method with the parameters.
To bind the table to a bean select the properties of the table, go to behavior section and look for the advanced section 'Binding' property.
Select the small down arrow at the right side and click edit. In the dialog select or create a bean and property for the table.
Go to the button properties, look for 'Action', again select the small down arrow and click 'Edit'. Select the bean which holds the table property and create a method for the button.
The method look like    public void bearbeitenQuelle(ActionEvent actionEvent)
        // Add event code here...
        RichTable lTable = getYourTable();
        Object lData = lTable.getSelectedRowData();
        FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding lNB = (FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding) lData;

How can we find out the info object in a query is belongs to that particular info cube? If the query is built on a Multiprovider having 4 different info cubes.

If you have restrictions at the infoprovider level in the RKF then it is coming from that particular infocube.
Or go to the selection option in the multiprovider...her you can get the mappings of which key figure is populted from which infocube.
For characteristics you will have to look for identification tab in the characteristics option.

Showin a variable description for an info-object depending on a user login

Hi,
Client requirement is to show a variable description for an info-object depending on a user login.
e.g. a Characteristic Name is Level1 with a description as 'Level1'. If a user in Canada logs in and see a BEx report he should be able to see the description for infoobject Level1 as 'Cost center'. A user in US may wish to see the description as 'Expense center' etc. etc.
Is it possible to do so ? If yes please let me know ASAP.

Hi,
I don't think it is possible through standard functionality, but maybe you could try a workaround.
Create a Characteristic (say COMP) with text, and compound it with Infoobject Level1. The values and description for COMP could be
US Cost Center
CN Expense Center
You could make COMP an Authorisation relevant object and check the same with regard to user login, so that the people of sepecific country see only description relevant to their COMP.
In the report Display COMP as Description and Level1 as Key.
But do not that compounding may have an impact on the performance, also look into the implications of the same if you need to do it for a large number of reports/objects.
