How to erase TM?

I need to erase TM but don't know how. It doesn't appear in Disk Utility.
I installed a new 1.5TB internal HD and made it my startup disk. I had no problems cloning the old startup disk(500GB) to the new one and everything works fine. The only problem I have with old 1TB Time Machine which gives me message that there isn't enough space. It appears that the TM wants to backup the contents of the new startup HD to the existing backup from the old startup HD. It wouldn't remove the files from the old startup disk to make more space. I guess I need to erase the TM and back up the new startup disk as if I backup the first time. Or can I trash TM app. and somehow reinstall it?

I do have Time Capsule. I can't erase TM with the contents of old HD backup. When I open TM in the Finder the last backup (close to 500GB) of my old HD sits there and I don't know how to get rid of it.Please tell me how to "trash the sparse bundle with TM backups and empty trash".I don't see the trash can and don't know what is the sparse bundle.
DO NOT use TM interface for this.
click on the Time capsule in the sidebar of any finder window. It will show volume called Data (unless you renamed that). click on that. this will mount your Time capsule hard drive. what do you see inside? there should be a sparse bundle with TM backups. trash the sparse bundle and empty trash.

  • How to erase the existance of a Time capsule

    Hi,
I would like to know how to erase the existance of a Time capsule, like it never existed, because sometimes I can see remains of my old network, and I'd like to know how to reset all this,
    sincerely

    Welcome to the discussions!
You will want to do two things to get the TC back to total factory defaults:
1)Return all configuration settings to factory defaults
2)Erase your disk. (Do this only if you want to erase all of your backups).
Power down the TC for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button and KEEP holding it in as you plug the power back in
Release the reset button after approximately 10 seconds
Your configuration is now reset to factory defaults.
    To erase the disk:
Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Disk icon at the top of the setup pane
Click the Disks tab just below the icons
Click Erase. Choose your erase options only if you want to erase all backups.
    That's it.

  • How to erase folders listed in loop browser

I accidentally copied some samples/loops from my external drive into the loop browser that I don't want there. How do erase these files and samples and remove them from the list of everything available?

    John Alcock wrote:
What works for me is (1) first getting rid of all the files I don't want, (2) group the remainder in folders that I choose and name them so they make sense, (3) trash all the Apple Search index files, (4) drag and drop the newly created folders in to the loop browser for reindexing, choosing the option of 'leave in location' (or whatever it says) when asked.
    Hello,
I'm trying to follow your instructions, but when I drag the folder into the loop browser for reindexing, its not giving me any options, it just says "adding loops to the loop browser" and when its done, I do not have any folders in my loop browser. The loops seem to be added, but they are not in any hierarchy!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    1. Open System Information and check your Model Identifier.
    2. If it's iMac 11,1 or newer: first, press Command, Option and R keys in boot and open Disk Utility. Then, select the Mountain Lion volume and erase it. Close it, install OS X and turn it off when the installation ends. If the computer is older, insert the install disc that came with the computer, press C key in boot and do the things I wrote

  • Younger sibling accidentally stained my macbook pro with nail polish, how to erase it?

So my younger sister painted hearts on the upper case of my Macbook Pro and I tried removing it with nail polish remover but there are stains left and I have no idea on how to erase the stains. I am avoiding on using nail polish remover again because I'm afraid that the paint will fade.
Does anyone have any safe ideas on how to remove it?

What paint? Macs are not painted but you will stain the aluminum.
Great care, warm soapy water and plenty of time is what you need, be very careful not to get any water inside
