How to evaluate dynamic user defined expression

Hi All,
I am looking for a solution where I can provide a GUI interface to user where one create their expression/formulas to get some results.
The description goes like this: Suppose using GUI a user chooses an operator than he can choose it operands and again operands can be another expression. So I am thinking in a tree direction. Once a user is done I can read that expression in IN-ORDER to get the complete expression now my problem is how to evaluate this to get their results?
Any ideas/solutions are welcome.

I've created an expression type in a System Application and marked its Access Level as Global. I've created a Class & Interface and assigned it to my Expression Type, and activated it successfully.
Now how do use this Expression Type to create expression in my Customizing Applications?
Do I have to make any more code changes like extending any more classes or implementing additional interfaces? (I've already created a dummy Query Class and UI class)
Any documentation or example of how to create a user-defined Expression Type and how to use them will be very helpful for me.

I had a hard time looking for that document. Couldn't find it though.

Any overview about the steps to be followed in creating a custom expression type, with a few simple steps on how to do it over here would be greatly appreciated. Especially on how to get it seen in the Create Expression Sub-Menu. Also do I have to code a web dynpro for the UI?

Take a look at this example, it uses property nodes to select tha
active plot and then changes the color of that plot.
If you want to make the number of plots dynamic you could use a for
loop and an array of color boxes.

Using Xcontrols in the user defined express vi's

Hi All,
                     I am actually using a Xcontrol inside a user defined express that we develop. The xcontrol is working as expected when i use it in the standard vis. But when i use it in the express, simply it crashes the LabVIEW and i need to restart the LabVIEW again. I am worried with this.
                        I put break points in the Facade vi of the xcontrol to know what is happening. But, i am not able to debug as the configure vi comes infront as modal even though the Source, sub and the configure vi of the express was not been configured as modal.
                    How to solve this problem?
                    Is there any restriction in using xcontrol with express vi's?
                    I am refering the Express Tool Kit Manual.pdf. Is there any other documents to know about the operation of the express vi's?

Hello Pandiarajan,
Since I didn't see it mentioned, I'm going to presume (hope) you're using 8.0. In LabVIEW 8.0, certain parts of XControls ran in a different application instance than where the VI was. This was a source of many issues related to XControls. In your case, since Express VI configuration pages also run in a separate application instance (and a different one than the XControls), I suspect this is related to the problems you are seeing. If this is the case, it may not be possible to use an XControl on the front panel of an Express VI config page in 8.0.
The resolution to many of these issues was to allow these XControl parts to run in the application instance of the VI whose front panel contains the XControl. This fairly substantial change did not make it in until LabVIEW 8.2.
If you are already using LabVIEW 8.2, it may not be an easy issue to troubleshoot, but I'd like to help isolate this issue. If you can simplify your XControl / Express VI into something that you could package and attach to this thread, I'd be willing to take a look at it.

You absolutely right, TimesTen doesnt support object types (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13085_01/doc/timesten.1121/e13076/plsqldiffs.htm) and User-Defined Aggregate Functions.
Is it crucial for your application? Could you rewrite this functionality by using standart SQL or PL/SQL?

the send redirect actually creates a new request (through the client) and thus a new response
thus the headers you set in the response are gone for the next request/response

I think that it should work to add the parameter to the URL.

You have the user the otherParams parameter, which you can specify in the formsweb.cfg file, or override on the url. e.g. http://myhost/servlet/f690servlet?config=myApp&otherParams=myParam=myValue
In the Forms Builder, in the Navigator window, there is a node called Parameters. Create one in there, and then you can refer to it like a block variable. e.g. if :myparam = 'myvalue' then...
At runtime, Forms will match up any parameters on the command with parameters defined in your form, and populate them for you. You don't have to do anything.

You can write UDFs in java in Graphical mapping to enhance your XI Graphical mapping functionality
The steps for doing it would be:
1. Click on Create New function Button found on Bottom left corner on your XI Mapping window.
2. Write your java code.
3. Run the Mapping Test as usual.

        Actually I am calling validate Login method of External service from the application service. When the login fails, my external service will throw user defined Exception.I want to catch the user defined Exception.
    But in the application service , validate Login method can catch only Invocation Exception and Engine Exception.
   These two exception are present in the Application service remote interface.

A user-defined function is only visible in the message mapping in which you created it. You can insert the function in the data-flow editor as a standard function by using the User-Defined function category.
You can use the following user-defined functions:
1.Simple functions, which can process individual field input values for each function call. Simple functions therefore expect strings as input values and return a string.
2.Advanced functions, which can process several field input values for each function call. You can import either all field values of a context or the whole queue for the field in an array before calling the function. For more information, see Advanced User-Defined Functions.

How to distinguish the User-Defined-Function from Oracle Build-In function

Hi Friends,
I could get the function list form all_objects table by the SQL:
select * from all_objects where object_type = 'FUNCTION'
but there is no column in all_objects specify the function is build-in or user-defined.
But I found in SQL Server there is a column "is_ms_shipped" in the sys.all_objects table. This column will specify the object is build-in or user-defined. I want to get the equivalent column in Oracle but failed.
Could anyone tell me how to solve this problem?

But if an user connects to database using "conn /as sysdba" syntax and creates a function. This user-defined funtion goes into the "SYS" schema also. I know it is not the best practise to create objects using sys user so I think your solution is right.
