How to explode engineering BOM

Hello,
I have created one engineering BOM with BOM Usage "2"
How to explode this engineering BOM. I am not able to explode same in CS11, CS12 OR CS13.
Kindly suggest some other method

Dear,
In CS11 transaction, click on view button(button next to Execute)or F5. In Restrict view data area, check Engineering.
click on back button. specify BOM application(you can try with PP01) and Execute.

How to explode a BOM in sales order

Hi,
We have the following scenario.
Product 999 is made by putting together cases of the products 12345 and 8888. The packaging for 12345 and 8888 is not altered but they just take 4 CAR of 12345 and 8 CAR of 8888 and put them on one pallet and that makes a 999.
We get a sales order from customer only for 999 and we would like to have something happen automatically like BOM explosion ( this could be also a trigger when a background job is run) and the sales order should get the relevant qtys. of 12345 and 8888 in the same sales order along with 999.
I was searching in internet and I found that we can use item categories to achieve this. Can some body advise how to do that?
main questions around this are what are the item categories I need to use, what is the BOM type to be created etc...?

Maintain iteam category group in material master as per u requirement
ERLA - Structre Material above (Price at main item level)
or
LUMF - Structure material below(Price at each item level).
Now in t-code VOV7,
Select higer level item category which you are dtermining mostlt
TAP or TAQ, go in details of item category
under bill of material tan/configuration maintain APLLICATION - SD01
Now create Material BOM by CS01.
It will explode in sales order.

Engineering bom explosion

Hello team,
My client's purpose is he should be able to explode multi level engineering bom with all the details and pull the same to the excel this will be just for his information purpose.
I am not sure whether using of CS11 and CS12 is correct for this purpose, but some how when i used these T codes i was able to explode only production boms but not engineering bom.
So how to achieve my purpose of extracting multilevel engineering bom details in to excel.

Thanks a lot for all the guidance, and very helpful answer from Jeevan Sagar.
As stated earlier i need this explosion only for reporting purpose and it should not affect any planning or production.
Hence i have done below settings, please confirm me on the same.
1) I have not done any settings in OS31 as the below setting was already available
SelID    Selection Priority   BOM Usage
02                1                    2
02                2                    3
2) I went to OS30 or OPJM both took me to the same screen and defined the below new entry.
Application - EN01, SelID - 02, did not select any other check boxes as i dont need any planning or production activities with that.
My clarification : Hope the above setting will not affect production/planning and any others. It will just explode for reporting purpose.?

Craete PO in ME21N with item category L.
enter the matl , plant and qty etc..
In item details choose material data and cick on BOM icon system will explode the BOM if it is maintained otherwise u can maintain the components manually.

Engineering BOM and production BOM-very critical help

Hello All,
I am working for a client and below is the requirement, please guide me.
1) Customer has 2 department here one is engg and other is production as usual.
2) He needs BOMs only for 2 purposes a) For R and D b) Production.
3) He needs any changes in engineering and production to be reflected from certain specified date.
4) He says he will raise ECN for every change.
Now my questions are:
1) How to copy any changes done at later stages from engineering bom to production bom at specified date. Can ECN automatically do this?
2) what are methods to copy any fresh E bom to Production bom also?
3) Can ECN once approved automatically update changes in BOM by itself or does customer cumpolsarily need to take ECN and manually change E bom and then P bom.
Please suggest if any better model can help.

CU50 difference in Engineering BOM cost and Sales BOM cost

I have material BOM    M0001 --configurable...finished prodcuct (spe procuremt 52)
                                             M2100-- confifurable --- Phontam (semi finished)
                                                       M8600---- configurable (semifinished) specP 52                                                       R7000---
                                                       R7000--non configurable material
                                                       R7000--non configurable
                                                       R7000-- non configurable.
Now in T-code Cu50 under configuration tab simulation
1. when i am selecting Engineering Tab and then costing tab   all materials are picked for Engineering BOM costing.
2. when i am selecting only costing tab (Sales).. then the material R7000--non configurable qty 54
                                                                                R7000--non configurable qty 27
                                                                                R7000-- non configurable. qty 18
are not costed.
What could be the reason for not picking the cost for the material R7000
                                                                                R7000
                                                                                R7000
Please help me..

Hello Janardhan,
This is standard SAP behaviour. As per details given by you, it seems that material's consfiguration profile have settings of "Order BOM" and "multi-level" in CU43 transaction. So for such settings, system behaves differently for Engineering BOM and sales order cost estimates as given below.
1. Click on u201CEngineeringu201D Button and then click on u201CCalculationu201D Button : System simulates the cost estimates through transaction CU51. And in CU51 BOM explosion for cost estimate is multilevel. So system will show all the components in the BOM of header material. So you will find all the components listed in Cost estimate simulation.
2. Directly click on u201CCalculationu201D button : System simulates the cost estimates as it use to simulate in VA01 transaction. Becasue of this, there is NO BOM explosion till last level. System will only simulate the Cost estimate by exploding the BOM till 1st level. So system will show only 1st level BOM components. So you will find only 1st level BOM components listed.
So dont try to check anything in it, as its standard SAP behaviour.

How to transfer sales bom from SAP R/3 to APO?

I just want to ask how to transfer sales bom from R/3 to APO? if i change my bom usage to 5 and use this BOM in my Production version be enough to send it to APO?
Also, this is my first time using sales bom, could you please help me understand how sales bom work in APO planning?

Thanks again for your reply. I was trying to CIF sales BOM in APO but only the header material are being created in APO. The component are not added in PDS. This is how I create it in SAP R/3:
1. transaction cs01 --> enter header material, plant and BOM USAGE =5
2. inside cs01, i entered components, quantity for each components and ITEM category = L (stock item)
i also eneterd base quantity for header material
3. create production version for header material with routing and this BOM
4. create and activate material CIF model for header and components
5. create and activate PDS CIF model for header and components.
After doing all these steps, PDS is created in APO but I only have the header material (no components)
I tried changing BOM to other bom usage and components were populated in PDS.
Am i missing nay steps? Thanks.

I am preparing a balance sheet using report painter GRR1. in the characteristic i assigned the group account number and set as explode. however when i see the report it is exploded at group account number only asterisk level i set is 01. do you guys have any idea how to explode at GL account level? do i need to define asterisk level upto 03 ? if yes how to create asterisk level ?

For each head like Trade Receivables, Trade Parables, etc, Did you explicitly maintain the GL acct. range by selecting 'Account Number' as Characteristics in that line?

How to create Alternative Bom by given inputs

Hi to all,
I need to create BOM with alternative number.
my inputs are
BOM Header
Material, plant, BOM usage, Alternate BOM, BOM status, Base Qty, Valid From, valid to
BOM Item
Item number, item category, component, component description, UOM, valid from, valid to, item ID, QTY
if i use CSAP_MAT_BOM_CREATE to create BOM , it will not create alternative number
if i use BAPI_MATERIAL_BOM_GROUP_CREATE , does my input value are enough to create alternative bom.
please can any one, put some light on it, i search SDN ,but i dont know how to create alternative bom with input provided.
i shall be thankful to you for this.

Production BOM and Engineering BOM

Dear Gurus ,
I want to know difference between Eng BOM and Prod BOM . We have standard multilevel engineering BOM but if I use that BOM for routing assignment I can only see 1 st level components . Can I put all components in single level so that I can assign them in FG routing and pick list will have all the components ?
We are thinking of considering all assy as phantom so that there would be only one prod order for FG .

Hi,
The engineering BOM is as designed material BOM. It may include all the part upto the level of nuts & Bolts & also the engineering drawings. But in Production BOM you may not include the engg drawings & the C class material like nut & bolt, which may be planned on Reorder point planning.

u first place some dictionary input/output fields in your screen and
below that u place ur custom control,
so what ever input u are giving in those fields , u seelct data accordingly,
for example.
in screen there is one icon 'dictionary/program fields, click that and give some table , suppose u want to extract data from kna1 table using kunnr, select kunnr and press enter, then along withn cursor u get one frame, take that on to screen and place it ,
now in the program write
tables: kna1.
select * from kna1 into it_kna1 where kunnr = kna1-kunnr.
now u get the data into it_kna1.
it will work , try this.
