How to export a Form edited in LC Design to still be editable in Acrobat Pro

First off, I’m a new to Forms and how they work.
I created a PDF Form in Acrobat Pro from an existing Word Document. The Form was setup with some functionality like automatically assigning the current Date in a field for when the document is accessed.  It consists of 3 signature fields, and was setup to auto populates the signature dates when the person signing captures their name. Each signature block also has code to auto generates an email to be sent after signing. Everything works fine one the From.
My Problem is that I now need to add extra columns and text onto the Form. Unfortunately Acrobat Pro does not allow me to make the content changes required. So I imported a copy of the Form into LC Design and was able to make the required changes. But now none of the functionality seems to work. And when I save it and open the PDF in Acrobat, as soon as I try to Edit the Form it want to re-launce the LC Designer.
I either need to get the functionality to work through LC Designer, or have a way to make the form work again through Acrobat Pro.

Hi George,
thank you for your suggestion. I was not aware of this option. I've tried it and it does seem to be the option with the least amount of work to keep the functionality of the form in tact. I only need to make minor ajustments to the Field locations now but the code and everything else seems to still be in place.
thank you once again.

  • Support for PDF form editing in Acrobat Pro XI and futire versions?

    Will Adobe Professional continue to support the creation and editing of PDF forms after Forms Central? Can I import my Forms-Central PDF forms into Acrobat XI? What are the plans for future versions of Acrobat Pro - any cancellations planned for forms-features?

    That's correct.
    >but I have not clue how to add this funtionality to my already created PDF?!?
    LiveCycle Reader Extensions is a product. You buy it. Note that the
    price is "on application" and varies with your company's needs, but is
    typically either tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is to
    offset the "lost sales" of Acrobat which people would otherwise have
    to buy to save forms.
    > I have downloaded the trial version Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.1 (which appears to have full functionality for only 60 days)in hopes to just add this capability
    There are many products with LiveCycle in the name from Adobe. That's
    a different one.

  • How to export the text edit data to excel file without splitting the data in excel file?

    how to export the text edit data to excel file without splitting the data in excel file?
    I have a requirement in SAP HR where in the appraiser can add comments in the area given and can export that to excel file. Currently the file is getting exported but the comments getting split into deifferent rows.
    I want the entire comment to be fit in one row.
    Please help.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    if your text edit value is stored in 'lv_string' variable.
    then before exporting the value to excel you have to remove CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>NEWLINE
    that is '#' from the variable lv_string.
    for that use code some thing like this.
    REPLACE ALL OCCURRENCES OF CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>NEWLINE in lv_string WITH space.
    I think this will do the trick.

    I am using VS2010 For my windows application dash board is required for that i am using 6 datagridview to display in form and i want to export all datagridviews to one single pdf please help me out.
    How To Export Windows Forms Multiple DataGridViews in single PDF using iTextSharp, C#
    Thanks in advance

    Hi friend,
    Actually iText is a third party library to create PDF originally written for java. iTextSharp is the C# adaptation of that library.
    Question regarding iText are better asked on the iText forum, but this is Microsoft Forum:

  • Save form in Reader AND allow users to edit in Acrobat Pro

    I have to create a generic form that I can pass on that allows somoene to edit/customize the form for different clients. However, the end users also have to be able to fill in the form and then save that form locally. It seems to me that Acrobat Pro and Reader are cancelling each other out in this regard. I can set up the form just fine in Acrobat Pro, but when I enable the "Save" function for Reader, I can't edit the form anymore in Acrobat Pro.
    Full disclosure, I'm still on Acrobat Pro 7 (I had to use a co-worker's Acrobat Pro 8 to set the "Save Form" function for Reader). Have the later versions of Acrobat Pro fixed this issue?

    Or You could let the end users without Acrobat use the free PDF-XChange Viewer to fill out and save the form.

    (Strange that it is so hard for Adobe to meet this simple need to fill out and save for common users with only the Adobe Reader - with out any "hanky panky" applying with Acrobat)

  • Making an Illustrator file that is editable in Acrobat Pro

    I have an Illustrator map of the USA in which the states are all separate outlines. I would like to make a PDF where the colors of the states could be edited in Acrobat Pro.
    Is this possible?
    thanks in advance

    > Is this possible?
    Yes.
    1. Determine the number of colors you want to use. (I believe I read in a statistics textbook that adjacent same colors can be avoided in any map using only four colors.)
    2. Draw the map. Each state is separate closed path (or compound path).
    All states are on one layer. Fill all the states the same color.
    3. Duplicate the layer. Change the color of all states on that layer.
    4. Repeat step 3 for each color.
    5. Select all, Release to Layers (Sequence).
    6. Export the PDF, preserving Layers.
    7. In AcrobatPro, set the initial view to Page and Layers Panel.
    8. In Reader, (7 or newer, I believe) the users can turn on/off visibility of the Layers.

  • Form created in Acrobat Pro 8 not editable in Acrobat Pro XI

    I created several forms in Acrobat Pro 8, using LiveCycle Designer. I upgraded to Acrobat XI a few days ago when I learned it was unstable under Windows 7. I am now finding I cannot edit my existing forms in Acrobat Pro XI because it doesn't include LiveCycle Designer. This has apparently been moved into a separate product that will cost me another $300. Moreover, I can't seem to save my existing forms at Word documents to re-import them into Acrobat XI, so I can re-create the forms from scratch. I suppose I could print and scan them, but that will result in a less legible form.
    This loss of functionality and cross-compatibility between versions is disturbing. I feel I have just paid $200 to get less functionality than I had before.
    It also appears that the most expedient method for creating new forms in Acrobat XI is to upload them to FormsCentral. I am reluctant to upload these to a third-party server, and resent being required to do so in order to maintain any functionality.
    Is this an ill-planned marketing strategy to get people to buy another software package (which isn't happening in my case), or is there some work-around I am not seeing here?

    To create a form in Acrobat, you first create a PDF that you will be adding form fields to. Normally yo'd create the source document in a program like InDesign or Word, convert to PDF, and place the form fields where they need to go. Acrobat includes a Form Wizard that can attempt to add fields where it thinks they should go, but I rarely use it, preverring to add the fields manually. To do this, select: Tools > Forms > Edit
    and you'll be switched to form editing mode. At the top you'll see the various form field tools that you can use to add fields to the document. This type of form is known as an Acroform, as opposed to an XFA form (static or dynamic) that LiveCycle Designer creates.
    Acrobat 11 comes with the FormCentral form creation application that allows yo to create forms that can be used with the FormsCentral service. It allows you to export a form to PDF, which can be further edited in Acrobat. FormsCentral can also work with a PDF form (Acroform) that you create entirely in Acrobat.
    I think an Acroform is the more versatile type of the three mentioned since they have the widest support in the PDF viewers that are out there, but which you choose depends on your needs. Each have their advantages.

  • LiveCycle form edited in acrobat

    LiveCycle Static form need to edited in acrobat and the field name will be same. Is it possible? how can I achieve?

    Hi,
    Forms that are created in LC Designer (XFA Forms) can be saved as Static PDF Forms or Dynamic XML Forms. While these open in Acrobat/Reader, they are completely different from forms developed in Acrobat (AcroForms) or natice PDF documents.
    You cannot edit the Static PDF (XFA) Form structure or add new fields in Acrobat. You will need to open it again in LC Designer and work on it there.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • How to make function: line amount total and final colum total at the bottom (Acrobat pro 9)?

    The form is like this:
    col 1
    col 2
    col 3
    col 4
    col 5
    Row 1
    amount
    amount
    amount
    line total
    Row 2

    amount
    amount
    line total
    Row 3
    amount
    amount
    amount
    line total
    Row 4
    amount
    amount
    amount
    line total
    Row 5
    colum total
    colum total
    colum total
    colum total
    The problem is that even though the calculation seems to be right, the final total, colum totals and some of the line totals don't update. The sum remains zero.
    Could there be a wrong tab order? Could somebody tell me the right order? I've tried several variations, but I just can't get it work . Could somebody help me please?
    Thanks in advance!

    It's most likely an incorrect field calculation order, which is not at all related to the tab order. In case you don't know how to set it, select "Forms > Add or Edit Fields" to go into form editing mode, and then select "Forms > Edit > Set Field Calculation Order".
    Arrange the order so it makes sense, which looks like it should be:
    col 2 total
    col 3 total
    col 4 total
    Row 1 total
    Row 2 total
    Row 3 total
    Row 4 total
    Row 5 total
    Other arrangements might be just a correct, but it's important that the row totals are in that order. You should also check it again when you have the form ready to distribute to make sure it hasn't changed as you've done further editing.

  • Can I make a PDF form that can be filled/saved in Illustrator/InDesign without Acrobat Pro?

    Can I make a PDF form that can be filled out and (more importantly saved) in Illustrator or InDesign without having to use Adobe Acrobat Pro?
    I only have Adobe Reader XI. Do I need to purchase Adobe Acrobat Pro in order to make a PDF form that can be filled out and saved by others? or is it possible to do this solely through Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Adobe Reader?

    InDesign can export to a filable form, assuming you add the fields in InDesign (6/CC) and export as an interactive PDF. You can't create a form with Reader or Illustrator. You also can't Reader-enable with anything other than Acrobat, so Reader users will have to use version 11 in order to save a filled-in form.

  • How can I insert an image at the original resolution into a PDF using Acrobat Pro XI

    Got an image created in Photoshop at 300DPI 2480 pixels wide by xx high.  Saved as a TIFF.
    When I insert that image in my PDF (A4 210mm x 297mm) using Acrobat Pro XI via "Content Editing->Add Image" it appears smaller than the page width of the PDF, and I must manually resize the inserted image by dragging with my mouse.
    Documentation says the image is inserted at the original image resolution, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
    Also tried creating another image in Photoshop using 210mm width @ 300 DPI (instead of 2480 pixels @ 300DPI), got the same results.
    Can anyone help?  Cheers.

    You should maybe take a step back. Nobody composes pages in Acrobat.

  • How to create a small field that cycles through a series of images. (using Acrobat Pro)

    Using Acrobat Pro, we need to use a small field to track student progress.  With successive mouse clicks, the field would cycle through:
    -- a number (that identifies an element of study),
    -- same number surrounded by a circle (indicates element is assigned to the student),
    -- same number with a check mark (indicates element was completed by the student),
    -- back to the original number.
    This could probably be handled by cycling through a series of small images when the user clicks on the field.
    The "Check Box" field allows only a check to be added to the field.  It does not allow the circle and does not cycle through multiple states.
    The "Text Box" field might allow this capability, but if so we are not able to configure it properly.
    Any solutions?   Thanks!

    Thanks Michael,
    The information at the link you provided enabled us to create a button that cycles through a series of ASCII characters.
    This us useful, but we need to cycle through a series of images.  A more difficult problem.
    FYI, an example of the javascript that cycles through a series of ASCII characters is shown below.  (The "else" statement pertaining to a null "" buttonGetCaption state is used to initiate an initial state of "1" for the button when the form is first opened.).
    if
    (event.target.buttonGetCaption()=="1"+"\u2714") {
        event.target.buttonSetCaption("1");
        event.target.textColor = color.black; }
    else if (event.target.buttonGetCaption()=="") {
        event.target.buttonSetCaption("1");
        event.target.textColor = color.black; }
    else if (event.target.buttonGetCaption()=="1P") {
        event.target.buttonSetCaption("1"+"\u2714");
        event.target.textColor = color.green; }
    else if (event.target.buttonGetCaption()=="1") {
        event.target.buttonSetCaption("1P");
        event.target.textColor = color.red; }
    loop
    Again, we are still looking for a way to cycle through a series of images so any help with that problem would be appreciated.

  • Prefill a field that remains editable in Acrobat Pro 9

    Hey folks - I'm still suing Acrobat Pro 9 and created a PDF from a word document. I used the tool and created some fields. I can "tab" from field to filed and type whatever text I want. My question is sometimes the answer will be the same but sometimes not. Is there a way I can save the PDF with specific text in an editable field that can be edited (filled in other than they way its opened) by any Acrobat user that opens my PDF? (or does it is just need to be left black if it may vary and be filled everytime?). Is the newer version able to do this?

    You can fill it whatever value in the field, of course... Just enter the
    value and then save the file before distributing it.
