How to Export a modified Tiff photo ?

I have modified a tiff photo in LR, but when I export it, I get the original version without the changes .
For example I cropped a tiff in the develop module , went to library where the cropped photo is shown, export it , and I get the uncropped version.
So how do I export the modified (cropped) version of this tiff photo ?
Thanks for your help,
Bernard
Windows 7 , LR3.2RC , Include develop settings in metadata inside jpeg, tiff,...  is NO

What export settings have you selected?
The only thing I can think of is make sure you do not have "original" selected under File Settings>Format in the export dialog. Should be JPEG, TIFF.

  • How to export full quality in photos

In iPhoto you used to be able to export a modified picture in 'current' quality, which was full quality as shown in iPhoto.
Now in the new photos app this option is gone (only allowing to export original image in full quality). The best now seems to be exporting the jpeg at maximum quality which it's compressing the image from what is seen in photos app.
Does anyone know how to get around this...incredibly annoying as I want to edit images in photos, then export out that full quality to share or print or whatever.

You misunderstand what 'quality' means in this context. Quality is about the amount of compression applied to the image when the Jpeg is created. Is had very little to do with the quality of the photo. A well exposed image will print pretty much the same from a 1, 2 or 5mb image, especially from a  domestic printer. You might see artefacts on a very high quality printer, but it's really not that mooch different.
Jpeg quality really comes into play if you use a lossless editor after exporting. This is in the nature of the Jpeg format. It's not an image format at all, it's a compression format attuned to images. Essentially its a special kind of zip file. When you open a Jpeg it's decompressed, so that 5mb Jpeg could contain a file that uses 50mb of RAM.
However, if you edit the image, then the file is recompressed and that means that some data is thrown away. In theory, edit a Jpeg enough times and you'll have an empty file. To overcome this, when you edit in apps like iPhoto/Photos the original file is not touched. The edit decisions are recorded in the db and only committed to the file when exported.
Exporting create a new file, containing the same photograph. But the quality of the file - which is the amount of compression applied - can be selected. If you found that the Preview in iPhoto always matched the reported size of the original then either a: that was a fluke or b: the image wasn't edited.
Medium gives about the same quality as the Preview, that's all.
The best quality to export at depends on the next use the file gets: if it's going to editing further, then high. Other than that it doesn't make a huge amount of difference.

How do you compress on a mac a Tiff photo file so that it can be sent in an email?

I don't believe .tifs are a web compatible format. Two options:
    1. You either have to compress it, where it becomes a .sit  or .zip file that is emailable. Your receiver will need to be able to decompress the file.
    2. Change it to a .jpg or .png file which are emailable.
Like Mr. Perkins says your ISP may limit the size of files that can be emailed.
I don't see where web compatibility relates to this issue in any way.
I'd be shocked if any computer whatever is unable to decompress a zip file.  However, as Mr. Perkins and I have confirmed via testing, the amount of compression can range from negligible to significant, depending on the original TIF file.
As far as changing to JPG or PNG, I don't know if that helps the OP.  The question was specifically related to TIFs.  Personally, I still prefer the MobileMe or Dropbox solution.  The recipient receives exactly what the sender wishes to send and email is not clogged up in any manner.

  • How to export preview of offline photo?

I can see an offline preview.
I can print a copy in draft mode.
I can even print to pdf and extract the jpg.
How can I just export the preview as a jpg?

There is one trick that I learned about on this forum. You can print the photo to a pdf. Make sure you disable rescale and sharpening and that you do select draft mode printing. When you select draft mode, Lightroom uses the preview image and does not need the originals. After you have created the pdf, you can suck the photo out of it using Acrobat, Photoshop, and many other tools. Might come in handy if you have "misplaced" a photograph somehow.

  • I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?

I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?  Presently after exporting and burning each photo is identified by the file name rather than each individual title description.

File name and Title are not the same thing.
Filename is attached to the Jpeg file in the Finder.
Title is attached to the photo within the Jpeg file - as is the description. These are written to the Exif and IPTC metadata on export.
So: File -> Export. Kind: Jpeg or Tiff and Check the box at 'Title and Keywords'. This will write the Title, keywords and descriptions (though not explicitly stated) to the metadata. This can then be viewed in any app that understand this material.
You can choose, if you wish, to also use the Title as a Filename - that's an option at File Name

  • How to export photos AND settings into a new iPhoto library

    Hello,
My iPhoto library is becoming humongeous (slow, risk of corrupting the file etc), hence I'd like to split it into various libraries (which I can manage with the very useful iPhoto Library Manager (shareware)).
How can I export not only the photos themselves, but their settings (metadata), i.e. Albums and Events, perhaps even slideshows.
    Any ideas/pointers/suggestions are most welcome.
    Cheers,
    Veit (from Austria)

Here is what I found in the iPhoto Library Manger's Help section: indeed the "elegant way" to copy pix AND their metadata. Many thanks for being so helpful.
    Cheers,
    Veit
    Copying Albums
When keeping your photos separated in multiple libraries, you sometimes have the need to move a set of photos from one library to another. With iPhoto, the only way to do this is to export the photos from one library and then import them into another. However, in the process of doing this, you lose all the data you've worked to assign to your photos, such as titles, dates, keywords, and ratings. iPhoto Library Manager provides a way to copy photos from one library to another without losing this valuable information.
An album of photos can be copied from one library to another by dragging the album(s) you want to copy from the albums list in the main iPhoto Library Manager window and dropping them onto the library you would like to copy them to. iPhoto Library Manager will first collect the information about those photos from the source library, and then import those photos into the destination library and restore all the photo information as it was before. If a photo has been modified in the original library, then the original version of the photo will also be transferred to the destination library, so that the "Revert to original" command in iPhoto will work as expected. If you drag more than one album at once, and a photo belongs to more than one of those albums, the photo will only be imported once, but will be added to all the appropriate newly created albums in the destination library.
Some notes on what will and won't be copied when copying albums between libraries: [and so on ...]

  • How to export the same mb size of my cr2 files into jpg or tiff files in Lr?

How to export the same mb size of my cr2 files into jpg or tiff files in Lr?
Let's say my file size is 22mb, when i export the file to tiff or jpg, although Iam careful with the settings- file size, dimension, resolution, I can't manioukate how I want it.
With jpg I tried everything, no matter what i do or change in files size or resoltion it remains the same size- 7mb as opposed to 22..
    Please advise,
    Best wishes,
    T

I would noramlly opt for a tiff file, sending such a high res through the nest a nightmare
This is probably just an improper use of terminology, but the resolution of a JPG, DNG and TIF should all be the same.
The files differ in size, not resolution and not number of pixels.
Jpg is not that bad, but its a pitty they have to be edited under a jpg format..
Your raws are edited as raw. There is no loss of quality in the editing process. The files are then exported as JPG, which will cause a loss of quality. For just about any use, the loss of quality in the image when you export a JPG at quality level 12 is NOT noticeable. For many uses, exporting a JPG at a quality level of 8 will not be noticeable either, unless you intend to print the photo at a very large size. As twenty_one (not his real name) said, "Jpeg compression is fantastically effective".

  • How to Sync Modified iPhoto Photos to New iPad?

Hi, the question is really in the title. I have just returned from holiday and have edited 300+ photos in iPhoto. These have been synced to my iPad which is only showing the originals, not the modified versions. After searching these forums I found a solution for the iPhone - deleting the iPod cache file in iPhoto package contents - but this did not help on the iPad.
I have batch changed the names of the photos and re-synced but this has not helped. I suspect I could export them all and then re-import but iPhoto loses tagged faces doing that and having spent hours assigning faces I'm not keen on going through that again.
Has anyone cracked this particular issue, or could someone with an iPad try modifying a photo and seeing if it syncs okay - would be good to know if this is a local issue to me or a generic problem.
    Thanks.
    David.

    Hi, René,
that is not as it should be, so pardon my very basic questions - just to be sure:
How do you sync from iTunes? Have you set the "Sync Photos from" pop-up menu in the "Devices" tab in iTunes  to "Aperture" and not to your "Pictures" folder?
To sync the edited versions, you have to sync with Aperture and not with the masters folder on the Disk. Set Aperture to share Previews with the iLife Applications (in the Aperture Preferences > Previews tab) and to automatically create the Previews. Set the preview quality and size to your main display dimensions.
If you already have that, please post back and explain more how you are syncing with your iPhone.
    Regards

  • How do I take 300 dpi photos with my iPhone 4s? And how do I export them to my MacBook Pro at 300 dpi to use as I want to print photos.

How do I take 300 dpi photos with my iPhone 4s?
And how do I export them to my MacBook Pro at 300 dpi to use as I want to print photos.
I have been using the standard camera on the iPhone and require 300 dpi to create photo books as the photos are resized according the layout.
Your time and assistance in appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thanks Tonefox!
After looking at a few of the links I found a mathematical equation that assisted me.
    Inches = Pixels/DPI
    eg: 3 inches = 300 pixels/100 DPI
Using this equation and the fact that iPhone 4s takes photos that are 3264 x 2448 I was able to work out the largest print I could make with 300 DPI.
    Width 3264 pix/ 300 DPI = 10.88 inches
    Height 2448 pix/ 300 DPI = 8.16 inches
Therefore, the largest print (with 300DPI) I can make of these photos is 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches.
    Which is great!
So is it critical for me to change the dpi in say photoshop or does it not matter as long as I don't go above the 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches?
From what I can gather the smaller I resize the photo the higher the DPI and the bigger I stretch the photo the lower the DPI?
Further clarification will be much appreciated. Thanks

How to export photos from photo gallery to my iPad

I had no trouble finding the "Export" tools in the "File" menu. They are greyed out when no photo is selected, but they are functional after selecting one or more photos.
I agree that it would be nice to have the "Reveal in Finder" option back, but they probably don't want us mucking about inside the Photos library structure.

how to export photo to external hard drive?  (time capsule 3t)?
Simple - launch iPhoto, select the phtoos and export (file menu ==> export) to the destination of yoru choice - see the user tip onexporting for details on the export optiopns - https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/iphoto?view=documents
However is the Time Capsule being used for Time Machine backups? If it is do not use it as an external drive too - it needs to be dedicated to one use only

And this is a totally different question - by default in your iPhoto library - and to access then see the user tip on accessing yoru iPhoto files - https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/iphoto?view=documents

  • How do I save an edited photo to a usb I export them to desk top but the whole file is exported ther

How do I save an edited photo to a usb New to LR I have exported some to desktop but I keep getting the whole catalogue there as well

Exporting will create a new file for every Image you have selected.  It will not overwrite any files.
Your workflow counters much of the engineering and design that went into Aperture.  Here is a very short guide to getting started with Aperture.
Fwiw, the Aperture Library is a file system.  The Library is a Finder package.  You can see the contents of the package by right-clicking the Library (in Finder) and selecting "Show package contents".  Additionally, for advanced users, Aperture includes features for manually managing the files you import into the Library (they can be located on any drive directly connected to your machine).
