  • Exporting Bookmarks from Safari

I seem to have a problem with exporting bookmarks from Safari - it flat out doesn't work. I select the File \ Export Bookmarks... item, Safari pops up a 'Save As' dialog, I tell it to save, and it does nothing.
    Never creates a file.
Anyone have any ideas about this?

Bingo! Never tried the desktop as I never save anything there, always to a specific file or folder on one of my 3 partitions.

  • Could someone tell me how to import bookmarks from Safari? Thanks!

I know how to export the Safari bookmarks to, say, the desktop, but how do you then import them into Firefox? Thanks ....

Thank you! Worked perfectly. Hadn't spotted that icon/menu in Bookmarks before!

  • Exporting Bookmarks from Safari to Vista

    Hi all,
Due to some programs I need to run at work I'm running Vista under Bootcamp, everything had gone okay, but I'm trying to figure out how to get all my bookmarks from Safari over into Firefox on Vista.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm sure this will work. If you love safari as much as I do, you will install it on your vista partition as well as your mac. If this is the case you can just go to *_file/export bookmarks_.* save it on a thumbdrive or a hard drive that can be accessible to both computers. On your vista partition, open safari and click _*file/ import bookmarks*._ Browse to the bookmarks file you saved and import.

  • How to transfer bookmarks from Safari on one computer over to another?

I have two computers, both running Safari 1.3.x in OSX 10.3.9. The computers are connected via Ethernet so I can transfer any files I want between them.
Computer A, my old computer, has all my hundreds of bookmarks in Safari. Computer B, my new computer, has no bookmarks yet. How can I transfer all my bookmarks en masse from the Safari on Computer A to the Safari on Computer B?
There must be a file or something that contains all the bookmarks, but I can't figure out which one it is.
    Thanks.

Never mind, I discovered the answer myself after a bit of poking around. The file is called "Bookmarks.plist" and is found in the user's "Library>Safari" under 10.3.9. I simply threw away the "Bookmarks.plist" from my new computer, then copied the old computer's "Bookmarks.plist" to the same location on the new computer, then fired up Safari on the new computer -- voila! All the old bookmarks appeared in the new version of Safari on the new computer.
    Problem solved.

Tap the bookmarks icon. Tap the edit button. Tap and hold down on the 3 horizontal lines on the right side of the bookmarks in order to reorder them. Tap Done when you are finished.
If you want to add a folder, tap New Folder in the upper left section of the bookmarks window after tapping the Edit button.

  • How to alphabetize bookmarks in safari using snow leopard

What is the easiest best way to alphabetize the bookmarks in safari without having to drag them individually?

Thanks, balto. Unfortunately, my little macbook won't let me expand enough. I even deleted a couple folders to try to make space, but that didn't work (just fewer to scroll though, but it didn't create any blank space). The way my window looks is: History, Bookmarks Bar, Bookmarks Menu, Address Book, Bonjour (?), and All RSS Feeds (all under the heading Collections), then the separate heading Bookmarks. This is where I have all my folders that contain all my bookmarked sites. I have 27 folders.
While searching the forums for help on this issue, I saw an example where the user's folders were under his Bookmarks Menu. Maybe this is why he could do this, and I can't? Because mine are under Bookmarks instead?
I might be better off just doing all the alphabetizing manually

  • How do I export bookmarks in Safari 1.3.2?

In the throws of retirement, I use a lot of online services. Since this is so, I have the pw's and login's edited onto the bookmark. My password and usernames remain relatively the same, with nuances of each. For those to come after me, who will need to get into the sites for account cancelation, how do I export the bookmarks into an editable word processor?
Also... I was thinking of upgrading the OS and Safari versions, but after seeing the slings and arrows of the upgrades... my 1.3.2 works just fine thank you!
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I'm not sure what you were told about Keychain, I automatically store all my passwords and accounts there. It would seem the easiest solution for you, and if your User password (which is normally the same as the one used for Keychain) were written down somewhere accessible, opening keychain for "those who come after you" would be easy and they would be able to see all your accounts.
Upgrading your OS is a choice only you can make, but I am using the latest iteration with no problems, although I will say that Safari clogs up after a couple of days use and has to be closed and reopened to make it speedier.
    Good luck,
    Miriam

  • Can't figure out how to export bookmarks in version 4. Your only instructions describe how to do the task in an earlier one. Please help!

I used to be able to export (not import) my bookmarks to my computer in case of crash. The new version (4) doesn't seem to have the feature or else I can't locate it. Your instructions on your help menus are out of date and don't correlate to your new version. Please tell me how to back up my bookmarks in Firefox 4. Thank you.

The instructions will refer to selecting the "Organize Bookmarks" item in the Bookmarks menu, this is now called "Show All Bookmarks", the rest of the instructions will be the same.

I need to export all my bookmarks from FF to my local disk. For I'm going to update my OS to Windows 8.1. How can I do it?

You can export the bookmarks to a JSON file or an HTML file in the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Show All Bookmarks).
Note that there are also 10 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder in the Firefox profile folder.

    Hello Tavares,
What you seek can be done, but before that you must know from where you want to take the data. In what form you will get the data in and where you want to use it and how.
Your problem is what we call an architectural issue. If possible please write to me at [email protected]
With the above information - I shall be able to help you to some extent.

  • How do you move bookmarks in safari on a G4 to an iMac?

I've tried everything that I can think of! Connected my iMac and G4 together and tried to "Import Bookmarks" and have no option to choose safari on my G4. Put my G4 safari on an external drive and hooked it to my iMac. Same results. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm using version 4.1 on my G4 and version 5.0.1 on my iMac.

    HI David,
You need to go to File/Export Bookmarks (in Safari) on the G4, save the file to the Desktop.
(Target Disk Mode?) Then on the iMac in Safari, go to File/Import Bookmarks.
How to use Target Disk Mode
