How to export each object as a separate image?

I do not have a wealth of experience with Illustrator, and was given a website design to translate into html/css content. I'd really like for someone to tell me that there's a nice, simple way to export each OBJECT as its own FILE (png, bmp, jpg, realistically anything will work for these buttons). Is there a plugin or built-in feature that will accurately do this?
I noticed that it can be SLICED by GUIDES, but that seems counter-intuitive. Why not just use the standard size of each object to crop than by creating a huge grid of guides?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated; I'm not having the greatest first experience with Illustrator thus far.

I do this by hiding all the objects except for the one that I want to export. The way I set up my layers when creating a file makes it easy for me to do this; several clicks at the most. However, I can easily imagine scenarios where this method would be a real pain.
Here is how I think it should work: it should export whichever object is selected. If you want to export the whole thing, then either select the whole thing or select nothing.

How to export every second or every third image out of lightroom?

Hi,
I have collected 30000 photos from a WebCam and I would like to make a time lapse. Pictures are taken every 15 Minutes and they are in sequence order (00001...00002...etc). I actually dont need them all for the time lapse and would like to export only lets say every third or every fourth picture. How can I do this with Lightroom?

I have now come to complete different solution. Because I am renaming all files before the import to Lightroom (with vRenamer, cool programm), I have found a little terminal command (extremly fast) which does exactly what I want (I just googled that, so not my credit):
mkdir -p ~/Desktop/NewFolder ; IFS="\n" ; find ~/Desktop/TestFiles -type f | sort -f | while read ; do scp "${REPLY}" ~/Desktop/NewFolder/ ; read ; read ; done
Newfolder = the folder in which the nth copies going into
Testfiles = the source folder
At the end there ; read ; read which will skip 2 files. If you wish to skip more files than add more "read" as you like.
After doing this I got in "NewFolder" something like pic_001 pic_004 pic_007 etc. I than rename the files with vRenamer to get them in sequence 001,002,...etc and essentially import them into lightroom.

How to export PDF to HTML with JPEG image format (not PNG)?

Hello,
When I export a ".pdf" file to ".html", using Acrobat 11 Pro, the program creates a subdirectory with ".png" image files.
I need these images to be in the ".jpg" format, not ".png".
Do any of you know how to change this setting? I am assuming that it is not a permanent default...

There are not just several steps that are required but also you need a very fast CPU (or you have to work with very very small images),
The basic approach is to put the WebCam (video) input into a Processor and to add your own implementation of a "javax.media.Effect" to the processor (let's call it Overlay3DEffect).
Then you can:
- transform the input Buffer to a java.awt.Image,
- get the Java3D image to be overlayed
- overlay the WebCam image with the relavent part of the Java3D image
-convert the resulting Image back to the output Buffer
The above processing has to be performed In the
public void process(Buffer in, Buffer out)
of your effect (Overlay3DEffect)

Extract schema, each object in its own file, maintain dependencies

is there a tool that exports a schema DDL so that each schema object creae statement is stored in a separated file, and a general script is provided which creates objects in the right order (dependencies).
I know toad can do it, but it's a bit over my budget.

@oraclebooks, I don't see the option to store each object on a separate file. And AFAIK, the produced script does not follow dependencies.
@sanjay: i know I could create scripts for all object with that, but how to create a "master" script which calls each object script in the right order?

Export thousands of entries to separate files

I don't know scripting. But I would sure like to find a script to do this little thing for me!
Some background is necessary:
Years ago, I was a dedicated HyperCard user. (If you know what I mean then you know my pain). I had a rolodex phone book with thousands of entries. As OSX came along, I ran HyperCard in classic. Now that I'm on an Intel Mac, classic is no longer supported. My clever solution was to export my stack entries to text and bring them into InDesign.
I'm limping along pretty well. Search in InD is very fast. And I've formatted the text using InD search and replace functions, I've made clear separations between entries. Each entry is one Paragraph, and between each entry is a spacer paragraph which carries a particular paragraph style called "Card Spacer". See the screenshot below.
My goal now is to move the data to a more useful platform - Notebook, Yojimbo come to mind. I'm thinking that what I need to do is EXPORT each entry as a separate text file to my hard drive. Then I can import the entries into the new database and each entry will be separate.
I'm hoping that a kind member with the scripting skills to do this will help me out.

Thanks so much! The script worked, it created over 4,000 text files in the folder where the file sat. It took about 5 seconds! I think this will solve my problem.
Before I close this thread (with a "Yes, answered" click), there's one minor hiccup I'd like to show you. The script is creating files both for my entry paragraphs and also for the spacer paragraphs. So I get one spacer text file for each "record" file.
I thought it would be easy to simply delete all the odd or all the even numbered files, but for some reason, the odd/eveness of the record files is not the same throughout the 4000 files. Probably there is an errant extra Hard Return character occasionally, causing the alternation of odd/even to switch.
Can the script be modified to skip the card spacers? Can you test for the paragraph style and skip paragraphs that are styled with "Card Spacer"? Of course, I can insert any other character into the spacer paragraphs if you'd rather filter for something else.
I don't know if, or how, I would get rid of the extra records if I import them into the new program.

How to scale objects in a layer while keeping each object in the same position

I have a map with symbols on it, placed precisely where they need to be. Is there a way to scale all of the objects in a layer or group so that they are larger, but without treating them as a layer that is stretched out to scale proportionately? Basically, how could I make each symbol larger as though each is being scaled from their centers?
I've tried to select a layer so that each object is selected, then transforming them (specifiying a scale percentage). As a result, the objects are enlarged, but this produces the same results as a normal click and drag from the corner registration point. Any ideas?

Yes, o.k., sort of. But you are not allowed to select individual objects that are parts of a group or groups. It's also quite all right to select, say, Same Fill Colour and Transform Each will work as long as the selection does not contain parts of groups.
To my way of thinking it would be better if it worked the other way, with anything selected with the Direct Selection tool, because sometimes you want to transform things even though they are parts of groups. But that's just the way the Illy cookie crumbles.

Presently after exporting and burning each photo is identified by the file name rather than each individual title description.

File name and Title are not the same thing.
Filename is attached to the Jpeg file in the Finder.
Title is attached to the photo within the Jpeg file - as is the description. These are written to the Exif and IPTC metadata on export.
So: File -> Export. Kind: Jpeg or Tiff and Check the box at 'Title and Keywords'. This will write the Title, keywords and descriptions (though not explicitly stated) to the metadata. This can then be viewed in any app that understand this material.
You can choose, if you wish, to also use the Title as a Filename - that's an option at File Name
