How to export in 1080p

Hi, im trying to export a little clip ive made for a youtube video, however at the bottom of the window it says that it is 720p, i want it to be 1080p so i can add it to my 1080p video in FCPx, how do i scale it up to export it to the right size?

Hi guys, just answered my own question, after looking around, click on the project then went to properties in the inspector. This then allowed me to choose the Preset which i then set to be 1080... That was the answer .

In the export settings, it will only allow me to choose between SD / 540P and HD 720P, the option for HD 1080P is there but greyed-out (cannot be selected).
Can anyone explain to me, why that is and how I can change this to export at the hightest quality?

I have Adobe Elements 9 and I used to be able to export HD 1080p videos with no issue. But recently, when I export using H.264 MPEG or MPEG 2, which I normally used, the high resolution videos come out very choppy. How can i fix this?

Are you running the 9.0.1 Update of the program and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is your video card/graphics card driver up to date according to the manufacturer of the card?
Is your computer optimized, including maintenance of pile ups of preview files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
What are your project settings and what are the properties of your source media? When you say that "used to be able to export...." is that on the same computer, same brand/model/settings for the camera recording the video now in use, same Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
Where player are you using for the playback of these exports?
Please give us more details on the size of the projects (then and now) as well as details of the customized export settings in your Share/Computer/ route. Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 is only a 32 bit application running in 32 bit or 64 bit system. Not sure if computer resources might be taxed more so now than before.

I have previously saved my .mov file as Apple TV, but the quality is reduced from 1920x1080 to 960x540. I was unable to sync the higher quality file to my phone (and am worried this is the limitation of the hardware). I added this file to iTunes, added to a playlist, and sync'd to my iPhone. The playback works but the resolution is obviously a lower quality.Is it possible to keep the higher quality for playback through a 1920x1080 hd monitor? No. Only the iPhone 4S, iPad3, and TV3 currently support 1080p30 content. Even then the 1080p30 playback support for your monitor may depend on how the device is connected. The iPhone 4 is limited to 720p30 playback.

Not on your current device. As previously stated, the latest generation of iPhone, iPad, and TV devices support a maximum 1080p30 playback capability but may be limited to lower resdolutions depending on your method of connection to your monitor. This information can be found on the Apple web site TechSpecs page for each respective device.

Can't export to 1080p video in iMovie

I've imported a video taken with my iPhone 4s into iMovie 11. I confirmed the video is actually 1080p. In iMovie I then select Share -> Export Movie, the only size available is "Large 720 x 540" or smaller. Since this was 1080p video to begin with, shouldn't I be able to export it as 1080p?
So, I searched and found a youtube video describing how to export 1080p video using QuickTime. I followed the video step by step, but when I got the the part to select H.264 format, that format was unavailable.
What do I have to do to export 1080p video?

Im curious about this point. I recently imported some video from a 5S, the option on my mac said, import as large or original, when i checked orginal I got a warning saying it may lose quality on playback so I checked large. I want to keep the quality from the 5S so I can export to itunes and watch on my HD tv with apple TV, by checking large does that decrease quality or is it the correct default?
My macbook is non-retina so I am assuming the playback quality it refers to is on my mac. I have changed the default to original even with the playback warning - is this correct?

You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

I'm unable to export my movie, I keep getting an error -49 each time I try to export in 1080p. What's this error code and how can I solve this? I tried exporting on my desktop and on another hard drive. I also tried rebooting my computer and reloading iMovie '11.

Easiest way to get around this problem is to temporarily turn off the Time Machine backup on your Mac while working on and exporting the video project. Once it finishes and you are done working in iMovie, turn Time Machine back on.

you can see google/youtube says 2160p (2160p: 3840x2160), as 4k on their website. so if thats what they use for that setting, they will probably convert your 4096x2304 to 3840x2160 anyways. it also makes sense if thats a limitation of h264, they would use that resolution for 60fps too.

I was wondering if it's possible to export a full res HD Quicktime movie as an HD iTunes movie? I know how to export a Quicktime movie to an iTunes movie but don't see an option to export an HD iTunes movie (the 720p quality like when you purchase an HD movie from the iTunes store). The TV device is limited to max of 720p playback. While the TV1 did have an option to scale content for output as 1080i or 1080p, this was discontinued with the TV2 since 1080p native HDTVs will automatically rescale the negotiated input as/if needed for proper viewing. To maintain compatibility with the TV1 device, Apple presets will export 720p content only if the source file is larger than or equal to these dimensions and the frame rate is 25 fps or less. They will not allow you upscale smaller dimension files. Thus, your 1080p source files will be exported as either 720p24 or 540p30 files depending on the source frame rate. If you have an TV2 device and wish to ensure a 720p30 output, then use a free third-party app like MPEG Streamclip or HandBrake. Both have TV2 specific conversion options.

GIF is a color restricted format with on/off support for transparency. There's really no settings you can tweak to output a better GIF. You have a drop-down during GIF sequence export to allow transparency, select the amount of colors (up to 256) and you can choose dither to save a little filespace. The only 2 things in there that really matter are dither and amount of colors used to export.
If your content is very similar (e.g. not a lot of complex gradients/shadows/etc) and is limited in color use turning down the amount of colors used and dithering is your only option.
Make sure you're exporting the GIF via "Publish Settings" so you get a single animated GIF and not file->export->movie because this creates a separate sequence of GIF images for each frame.
