  • How To Sync Multiple Timelines in Premiere Pro CS4?

In After Effects, if you create one Comp by dragging another one onto the "New Composition" icon, the timelines of those two comps will be synced (IE: If I jog to 00;00;16;06 in Comp01 and I switch over to Comp02, it will automatically jump to 00;00;16;06 as well).
How do I do this in Premiere Pro CS4? By default, it does not seem to sync up when I drag Sequence One into the timeline of Sequence Two. I have cuts done in the first Sequence that are important to elements I'll add in Sequence Two and I need to easily jump to those cuts.
    Thanks!

Mmm, none of these are really emulating what I can get in AE. No matter what I do in Sequence One, it will not jump to the cuts I need in Sequence Two. However, I think the easiest way to do this is...
Create markers at the cut points of Sequence One
Open Sequence One in the Source Clip Window right next to the Monitor Window, which will have Sequence Two open
Jump to the first marker in the Source Clip window, copy the time code of that marker and paste it into the timecode of the Monitor Window
Cut at this point, wash, rinse, repeat...
Having said this...this is a pain in the ***. I really wish Premiere was set up more like AE as this would have been more helpful I feel in Premiere as you'll be doing more editing here than in AE.
Unless...I'm missing something? Just to give this one last shot (and to make sure I'm being as clear as possible). Is there a way to be navigating EXCLUSIVE in Sequence Two, via either keyboard shortcut or some type of button in a monitor window, to jump around to cut points that you made in Sequence One, WITHOUT having to jump back to that sequence?
Here is the scenario I'm looking for: Sequence One has a cut at 00:00:02:00. I jump to that point in Sequence One. I click over to Sequence Two (which has Sequence One nested) and I click or hotkey to the same point in the timeline that 00:00:02:00 that Sequence One is currently setting at.
The reason this is vitally important is that I'm going to remove the space between 00:00:02:00 and 00:00:03:00 and replace just that part with something else. Thus, these cut points are vitally important.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

Not sure what you are asking. A download is a download. what you do with the file afterwards is entirely up to you. If you mean to install Mac software on Win, then no, this can't be done. Furthermore you also would have to have a proper Win serial.

  • Importing .AVI to Premiere Pro CS4

    Hi
I'm trying to edit a video that I got from my DSLR. It's in .AVI format.
When I import it to Premiere Pro CS4 and tried to play it. I can only hear the audio but the video doesn't play.
I already tried installing K-Lite Codec Pack but still the same.
I used Gspot and it says Codecs are installed.
Hope someone can help me out.

Having a CODEC installed is no guarantee that an NLE program can use it to edit. This ARTICLE goes into more detail.
As John T. points out, two very popular versions of the MJPEG CODEC are the Morgan, or the MainConcept, but your DSLR might have come with exactly what you need - but you might need to look on the included DVD for it. Camera mfgrs. often tweak their particular CODEC's, and especially with the MJPEG CODEC. That should be included, but it might be a separate installation, it might install with the camera's driver, or it might install with editing/organizing software. See this ARTICLE for a bit more detail.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Pro CS4 on Mac: Can't play media anymore

    Hi experts,
I'm in huge trouble with my Premiere Pro CS4 (latest version, all updates installed) on the Mac platform:
Until I tried to record an audio track with the built-in microphone, everything worked fine. But since then, Premiere Pro is unsuable . It won't play  any media file (video or audio) anymore: whenever I try to start the playback (no matter what media and no matter in which monitor) Premiere just does nothing at all.
The problem exists since Premiere Pro crashed when I tried to record audio with the built in mic. I can reproduce the crash when ever I try to capture audio again: the error message points to line 2329 in the module "CoreAudioHost.cpp" (to be precise: /Ironside/4.0/MediaCore/MediaLayer/AudioSupport/Macke/Mac/../../Src/Mac/CoreAudioHost.cpp -2329)
I reinstalled the application but the problem still exists. And I checked all the settings in the preferences panel -- but they seem to be alright.
I really have no idea what to do. Hopefully, anybody of you has?
Any help would be gladly appreciated.
    Thanks
    illergeek

    Hi Bob,
no, it's not a Beta, it's the full version of PPro as it comes bundled within my Master's Collection of CS4. And I'm not using any 3rd party plugins either.
I don't think that the file is present on our machines, Bob. The file extension ".cpp" seems to me like a reference to the source code file (written in the programming language C++, since this is what "cpp" stands for). I have a programming background, and therefore I think, the error message isn't meant to be useful for the end user (like us) but for the engineers while they're developing.
But today, I could narrow down my problem a bit. The playback is working again: the problems were caused by some messed up audio *output* settings. I think, PPro messed them up when it crashed several times. I reset them all and now the playback works fine again.
However, I still can't record: neither with Soundbooth CS4 nor with PPro. The software won't recognize my *input* settings. The error message I gave in my previous post still occurs as soon as I press the little microphone button in PPro's Audio Mixer. And Soundbooth just does *nothing* at all when I try to record. But every other tool (iMovie, Audacity) works fine with my Mac.
As a workaround, I record my audio with Audacity, import the file to PPro and be up and running. But if somebody of you has faced similar problems, I would appreciate your solutions.
    Regards and Thank you

  • Export to .AVI in Premiere Pro on Mac

We are hoping to migrate from Final Cut to Premiere Pro CS5 (Mac) to produce video for a big screen in our gym (among other things), because of the seamless interaction between After Effects, Premiere and Encore.  However, the program for the big screen needs the file to be an .AVI and won't accept any other format.   I can't seem to find how to export the video as an .AVI on Premiere ProCS5.  Is there a way to do this?

No, not directly. What codec do you need in the AVI? AVI is just a container, and can hold many different types of codecs, so you need to know what codec you specifically need for your use.

  • Exporting to AVI from Premiere Pro CS5.0.2 from DVCPRO HD sequence giving only 1 frame?

When trying to export from a P2 1080i 60hz DVCOPRO HD timeline to an AVI, whether going to queue or direct export using AME, it is going through its encoding steps but I am ending up with only one frame of let's say a 2 minute sequence. I've used Uncompressed AVI preset as well as Microsoft AVI preset - both going to 720 x 480.
Happens with and without using Maximum Render Quality setting.  Happens whether I have MPE on or off.
Couldn't find anything in the forum....have the Premiere Pro CS5.0.2 update.  Help.

Unfortunately, the poster cannot award themselves "points." Otherwise, Harm and I would have over 50,000!
Glad that you got the answer and the fix.

  • I exported a .mp4 in Premiere Pro CS4. It's 1 hr 40 min long and only plays properly for a half hour

    Hello,
I exported a video I edited in Premiere Pro which is 1 hour 40 mins long. It has some After Effects graphics, but they're imported as .movs. It plays fine for the first 1/2 hour, then after that it plays the appropriate sound while the picture stays the same. I tried restarting my computer, it still glitches. It's edited from two movs shot from the same camera. And it plays the last 10 minutes fine. I guess I should tell you that the source files I have (the movs) are 'corrupt,' I can't save them onto my external. I drag and drop them and a dialogue box says "unexpected error code 0" or something. Please let me know what info I should give you. Thank you for your time and replies.

  • Imported avi crashes premiere pro cs4...sound only on windows movie maker

    Hello all,
So when I go to import an avi it just crashes premiere pro...but first it turns into a sound only file, then crashes. With windows movie maker it only plays the sound?
Anyone else have these problems? I don't really want to use other video editors...
    Oh and I'm running Vista.
    Suggestions please.

    I'm sorry I don't have a quick answer.
    From what I can tell
    - Vista X64 uses MovieMaker 64bit
    - MovieMaker 64bit requires 64bit codecs (I think there is an experimental 64 bit ffdshow on sourceforge that might work)
    - However installing 64bit codecs may stop your 32bit video apps from rendering properly.
I didn't provide links to the experimental ffdshow build cause I didn't try it myself.
If I were you, I'd give up on getting Movie Maker working for now, and just focus on Premiere pro. ? Since it is a paid application they should provide good support. You can't be alone with this issue. If they require codec information just tell them it's a H.264 video with PCM Audio in a AVI wrapper. Guess a quick snapshot video could be provided if they needed one.
    ps.
. I'm just a user, not affiliated with Creative)
(pss... I use Vista x64 as well, and do not get video in moviemaker either)

  • How to export EVS MXF from Premiere Pro 5.5

I'm in the process of delivering a video to a production company that will be airing on CBS Sports in two days. They say they need it in EVS MXF and one of the production guys claims that the MXF formats in Encoder are not what they're looking for. He says the only product he knows of that can convert to the format is "FlipFactory" which is a paid program. I'm in the process of installing the trial version and it's giving me a hard time. I was wondering if anyone knew any workflows or solutions to export 1080p EVS MXF from Premiere. I'm running Windows Vista and the timeline is 29.97 1080p square h.264 mp4 files. Source footage was mostly shot on 5D DSLR and converted to mp4 for ease of editing. Thanks for any help you can give.
    Derek

Thanks Joe and Jim. I thought it would be my path to success as well but I can't seem to get the trial version working. After installing all the side stuff, it places the shortcut to install the console on my desktop just as the instructions say. When I double-click on it though, IE will not connect to http://localhost:9000. I assume for some reason it's not connecting to the SQL server that it installed but I'm not sure how to force it. Do you have any tips or pointers on getting this part of the installation process to work? I'd contact support but they're gone until Tuesday morning. Thanks again for your help.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 on Mac - Avi Format Issue

    Dear reader,
it's quite simple. My Premiere won't import any AVI files. It always shoots the error message "Unsupported compression in file.".
    How is this possible?
    Kind Regards
    - Aardappel

As Rod points out, AVI is but a "wrapper," and can contain all sorts of "stuff." This ARTICLE will give you some background on what can be inside the wrapper.
Once you know what IS inside, then you can probably progress. It might be as simple as adding the proper CODEC, or it might involve conversion to a better format/CODEC.
    Good luck,

  • Export video from Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 for online upload?

I need to upload a video I made in premiere but it shouldn't be bigger than 100MB for fast upload and still retain most of the quality. What format and codec should I choose? I tried divx and xvid but they ended up extremely jerky and awful.
The video is 720p and 55sec.

In both cases, the best thing to do would be to get the required/suggested specs. from each of those. In the case of YouTube, their specs seem to change often. Right now (last time I looked), it seems that most people are going with the H.264 CODEC for YouTube, and seem pleased.
I have no clue as to FaceBook, but maybe someone else will know it. Still, they should have a FAQ someplace with their requirements/specifications. They may be the exact same as YouTube, or totally different, in which case you would be better off doing two Exports - one for each use.
    Good luck,

  • Exported HD video from Premiere Pro CS4 via Media encoder Freezes mid way through video

    Hi,
I couldnt find this raised by anyone else so thought id start a new thread. Ive tried a couple of times to export an edited project only to find the video is all good up until roughly  half way through the video at which point the video freeezes, the time keeps moving along as if its playing but no video. It looks like the encode failed at this point. I have no problems if I split up the video and export it in smaller pieces but obviously this isnt good enough
Any ideas as to the cause?
    Additional info:
    Im patched upto CS4.1
    Source footage is AVCHD
Project goes for just over an hour
    Cheers

That suggests some failure somewhere in the encoding process. It could be something in your timeline around 43 minutes, maybe a blank space (even for a single frame), a disk hiccup causing some part to go missing, other hardware problems. It could be a myriad of things going wrong. What background processes are running, what is your hardware setup, what are the temperatures during encoding, etc. Check the second part of this link: If you need help quickly...Guideline for posting an effective question
