How to export iphoto 'movie' to final cut pro

I am a novice to iPhoto, but use Final Cut for movies. Is there a way to create a slideshow in iPhoto and then export that into a file suitable for importing into FCP?

I know that a slideshow created in iPhoto and exported to QT will import into Final Cut Express. So I'm guessing you can do the same with FCP.
If FCP likes other formats better to work with then what comes to mind is to take the iPhoto movie in QT Pro and save it to a format that FCP likes better than .mov files. Again, I'm only guessing here as I don't use my FCE much at all.

  • How to export a movie from Final Cut Pro X?

    Hi There,
I've been away from FCP for a while using Premier but I have an FCPX project that I need to export a preview from.
I've tried "Sharing" a YouTube movie but it wants an account so I tried using "Apple Devices 1080p". But I get no dialogue to save it and no feedback that anything is happening - nor do I know where FCPX actually saved it (assuming it exported it).
I also tried adding a new sharing destination but none of the destination options make sense - rather I didn't see anything I wanted to share to (DVD, BluRay etc).
I'm currently downloading the PDF manual but this seems like such a basic thing to want to do that I'm pretty sure I'm missing something simple - so thought I'd post here.
Put simply, how do I export a preview file to my desktop?

Or just export an H.264, which PC's can play back just fine, especially via the web.  I've never had issues with my clients.

You can do H.264 direcly out of FCP X without going to compressor.  You'll need to purchase "Flip4Mac" to export WMV files, which I rarely have to use for my PC clients.  You can create a Bundle in your Share preferences to do it all in one operation, too.

  • I need help. How to export split track for Final Cut Pro 7 Thanks

I need help. I have edited a film and now the company I have made the film for want a split track of it. I have no idea how to export a split track off Final Cut Pro 7 and I need simple language to explain it to me as I am a beginner. Thanks

I assume you have multiple tracks of audio? And the audio is distributed discretely over these tracks (sync sound on tracks 1 and 2, sound effects on tracks 3 and 4, music on tracks 5 and 6 for example)?
Then duplicate your sequence by clicking on the icon for your sequence in the FCP browser and control-clicking on it. From the drop-down menu choose Duplicate. Double click on the duplicate sequence you just created to load it to the timeline and canvas.
Now, working on the copy you just made of your finished sequence, click anywhere on the timeline, and type Command + 0 {zero} to bring up your sequence settings. Click on the Audio Outputs Tab.
Once the Audio Output Tab opens, set the Outputs to the desired number of discrete tracks you want to export - in this case I will set it to 8, as I have sync sound on tracks 1 & 2, Voice Over on tracks 3 & 4, Sound Effects on tracks 5 & 6 and Music on tracks 7 & 8.
Once I do that the 8 tracks appear. I set them all to Dual Mono as I want them to be discrete tracks:
Once I am done, I click OK and return to the far left side of the timeline where the audio selectors are, and carefully control - clicking in the empty space above the lock symbol,
From the drop down menu I assign the output of each track - track 1 to to output track 1, track 2 to output track 2, doing so to each track:
You need to set the output for each track. Once all my track assignments are done, I go to the menu File > Export . . . > QuickTime Movie and export my sequence, but now it is exporting with 8 discrete tracks of audio.
To do a quick check that everything is OK, re-import the movie you just exported back into FCP, and open it in the Viewer and you will see that it does indeed have the multi-tracks, as 8 mono track tabs appear at the top of the viewer.
Now give that QuickTime a name that includes "Split Tracks" in the title and copy it to your delivery drive.

  • How to export flv file from Final Cut Pro?

I'm using Final Cut Pro and try to export edited video in "Flv" format. However, there is no such choice and only "Flc" available? My friend has the same version of Final Cut Pro and there is "Flv" format to choice, why?

I use QT conversion: file > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion >
Then, under Format I only have "3G, AIFF, FLC, iPod, QuickTime Movie...", no "Flash video (FLV)" as my friend's computer?

  • Exporting Slide Movies to Final Cut Pro - always become fuzzy?

I've recorded a voiceover to accompany a slideshow I've produced - but it became too hard to organize the timing of the voice over with each specific movement and fade of each element in each slide.
So I exported the slide as a full size, uncompressed quicktime movie for each slide - I then imported them into FinalCut so I could cut up and manipulate the timing of each element easier to the voiceover - however every time I drag one of the movies into the timeline it becomes blurry - clearly not the proper resolution.
Anyone have any advice on this? Or is there a better Mac program out there that makes it easier to sync title and graphic movements - to a voiceover?

thats not an option, re-recording and rushing the speaker to match every fade and point is just too time consuming.
i suppose this is a final cut issue? I export a FULL REZ, FULL QUALITY movie from Keynote, the the quality just drops significantly in Final Cut when its on the viewer or exported out.

How do I export a project from Final Cut Pro to my desktop as a movie?

Can anyone please help me.. when I click on my timeline in my project library and try to export movie nothing happens! and when I  try to "share" to youtube I get an error message stating that it cannot be exported because it contains "no video"... The 4 minute music video that I've created with shots off my Canon T2i looks and plays great....If I uploaded the videos into Final Cut but did not save them on my desktop or anywhere else on the Mac would this be a reason to get this message? I have never experienced this before...the only option under "share" that works is "email"

  • I have an hd movie on final cut pro x; i want to create an sd disk of that movie. compressor created 2 files: dolby.... and mpeg2. How do I get these files burned to disc to create my sd movie?

I have an hd movie on final cut pro x; i want to create an sd disk of that movie. compressor created 2 files: dolby.... and mpeg2. How do I get these files burned to disc to create my sd movie?

These are elementary streams and they would be used by DVD authoring apps that use them for reasons like foreign language capability. Examples would be DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Encore, Toast.
The most straightforward way to burn your DVD is either to use the Share feature in FCP or the Batch Template feature in Compressor.
If you can find a boxed copy of iLife (try Amazon), it should have iDVD as part of the suite of apps. iDVD offers far more complete authoring capability than FCP or C4. iDVD  doesn't work with elementary streams; you'd just drag in your HD movie and you'd be good to go.
    Good lluck.

  • How do I import or export iLife music into Final Cut Pro 7. Thanks

How do I import or export iLife music into Final Cut Pro 7? Thanks.

Locate the .caf file you want to use in FCP in the Finder.  Normally, iLife sound files will be in Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/iLife Sound Effects/(subfolder).
Open the file on SoundTrack Pro, the go to File->Save a Copy As.  In the Save As window that will open, navigate to where you want to save the file, then near the bottom of that window, use the drop-down File Format menu to choose AIFF.  Set the bit depth to 16-Bit Integer and the Sampling Rate to 48000 hz.
Import the resulting AIFF file into your FCP project.

I have edited a movie in Final Cut Pro and the video has been smooth all the time.
Now, when the one hour long movie is ready the video seem to paus every 5 sec (only for half a second). It does it all the way through the movies.
What is wrong? All the sudden.

    We need info, info, info!
    What version of FCP X?
Did you render? what are the project specs? do you use many compound clips? how much ram, hard drive space, how is the hard drive connected?
It looks like your mac can't keep up. Maybe the bottleneck is the hard drive, or something else.
Try exporting a master file and see if the video is ok.
Also, keep Activity Monitor open and see how much memory pressure you've got.

  • How to import MXF files to Final Cut Pro with smooth editing

Summary: Follow this tutorial to learn how to import and edit MXF files in Final Cut Pro by converting MTS to FCP native format.
If you have a Panasonic P2, Canon XF or Sony XDCAM series camcorder,
you may be familiar with Material eXchange Format (MXF). Though MXF is a
great video format to record high-definition videos, it is not easy to
use in that they are not natively supported by most NLE systems like
Final Cut Pro. In order to import MXF to FCP for editing, the easy workaround is to transcode MXF files to FCP compatible video formats.
Along with some help from a top MXF Converter, it can be done. To
help those who wanna edit MXF files in FCP without problems, here I

C300, XF105 and XF305, Panasonic P2 recorded MXF files, but also provide
simple video editing functions for you. The MXF to FCP Converter not
only can convert MXF to ProRes for FCP, but also can transcode MXF
videos for editing in Avid MC, Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie, FCE, etc.
Just download it and follow the tutorial below to get the work done.
Transcoding (P2) MXF files to ProRes for Final Cut Pro 6/7/X

Click the Format bar, and move mouse cursor to choose “Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)” as output format.
    Tips:
    a. Settings- click to set video
    resolution(1920×1080/1440×1080/1280×720/720×480), bitrate (from 1Mbps to
    20Mbps), frame rate (24p/30p)

  • I can't upload or import videos from my iphoto library, into final cut pro x.  When i click, IMPORT MEDIA in FCP, It lists iPhoto Library as GRAY, and will not let me access it.  I need the videos out of there.  I have tried every way I can think of.

    Like the title says...
I can't upload or import videos from my iphoto library, into final cut pro x.  When i click, IMPORT MEDIA in FCP, It lists 'iPhoto Library' as GRAY, and will not let me select it.  I need the videos out of there.  I have tried every way I can think of.
I have also tried from the iphoto side, to export the videos or share them to final cut.  I have had no luck.
I have tried to drag and drop indidual video clips from iphoto to fcp, and the programs simply do not respond to each other
I can see in the OLDER version of final cut pro x, where it has IMPORT FILES as an option, it was possible.  I see this on forums and youtube videos of the older versions.
However, the newer version that i have, does not have IMPORT 'FILES' as an option, it is simply all lumped together as IMPORT 'MEDIA'
    Thank You for the Help

at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...
    vs
using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?
All the footage, and all the libraries to all programs, or on a new pegasus 12tb raid 5 setup fyi.
