How to export the best quality file from FCE?

Hi people. I was wondering which is the option that I have to choose to get the best quality on an exported file from FCE4. The best quality I get is from the "Export - Quicktime movie..." option, but there is a huge compression as I see. The final product isn't as good as it should. Obviously, it won't be the same as the original material, but I was wondering if there was another way of getting a movie with much more quality, like when you use "Compressor" from the Final Cut Studio. Thanks in advance.

I imported the material through firewire (it was recorded on a miniDV tape). I respected the format of the source and the files I got are top notch. The final movie looks great on the computer, the differences come when burning it to a DVD. I'm using IDVD, and the .mov file exported through the option I mentioned.
I want to burn that .mov file to a DVD, which means there will be another compression to MPEG2 once I burn it through the DVD authoring app, but the product has some kind of "shaking" in the dark areas. It's not so bad, but I would like to get the best quality, like the ones I've got from Compressor. Is it possible using the Export - Quicktime movie option?

How to export the original raw file?

I have read a few threads about this but have not seen the answer.
The original file from my camera (.PEF) now exists only in the Aperature library. I want to export a copy to my desktop so I can do some special processing with Pentax software. How do I export the original .PEF file? (Exporting Masters only gives me processed file types like TIFF and JPEG.)

Export Version gives you a processed file such as a TIFF or JPEG.
Export Master will give you a copy of the original RAW file.
Please double-check that you used the correct export command...

How to achieve the best quality when doing a narration?

I'm trying to figure out how to achieve the best possible narration in a documentary I'm doing using the FCP voice over tool, a USB mic, and Final Cut Studio's audio filters. Am I on the right track? How do I clean up an average voice over narration? Do I need additional equipment? Any advice would be appreciated.

The best thing you can do is to record it properly in the first place - if you want it to sound good. The environment you record in is VERY important as is the choice of mic you use ... most of the consumer USB mics aren't all that great in terms of quality.
Record in an acoustically flat room with good sound dampening. Even a clothes closet will do in a pinch. Record through a mixer so you can monitor the VO artist as they record. I've found it better to record to tape (camera or VTR) with a pro mic than to use FCP's voice over tool.

How can I Burn the Best Quality DVD from a project in i-movie 06' HD?

Hello I shot a sort film with a Cannon HV-30 HD camera, edited it in i-movie 06 HD, it looks amazing! However I am a bit confused on what setting to burn it at in I-DVD...Best Quality or Best Performance? I herd it will not burn in HD so what is the next best? The short film is about 14 minutes long. Any advice would be appreciated!

"Best quality" of course. ;-)
"Best performance" is just a faster burning/encoding process. The playback quality is a little lower than "Best quality". Since you burn once and play many times, go for "Best quality".

What is the best workflow procedure for importing DV SP 16x9 footage into FCP7 and then exporting the best quality 16x9 to standard DVD so that it looks great (or at least good) on a 50" Samsung LCD TV ?????? Please help! anybody?? Thanks!

We are using a Sony HDV-Z7U camera for acquisition. We recently recorded an event using the camera's non HD capabilities. We set the camera to record "DV SP" 16x9 settings on both Mini-DV tape and CF card.
To import the DV SP footage into FCP7 we chose the "DV NTSC anamorphic" setting in the log and transfer settings window. After a successful transfer from the CF card (the CF card held approximately 83 minutes) we checked the size of the file and found it to be 16 Gigs! Why so big? An 83 miniDV tape shot in SD should easily fit on a standard 4.7 gig MPEG2 DVD.
We need to burn DVDs of this show - we sent it to compressor and got horrible quality.
What is the best setting to use in FCP7's log and transfer settings window to import DV SP 16x9 standard def. footage and what is the best method for exporting for outputting this footage to DVD that preserves the original quality of the DV SP footage?? Anyone? Many thanks

No it doesn't. DV is 13GB per hour.
In any case, a Video DVD uses the MPEG 2 codec, not DV.

Use the Compressor DVD preset "Best Quality 90 mins".

Not going to happen, you are compressing by a factor of 1:4. Shooting as HDV would have given you better quality material to start with. DV is at the bottom end of the scale.

1. You can use Open Hub service to export data into CSV or File Format.
2. You can also use RSCRM_REPORT transaction to export data in to File, for this you need to create query first.
3. You can also use APD to generate file of your cube data.

Exporting the highest quality version from Aperture

Trying to export photos to a printer website, but the file size is very small - 1.3mb vs 24mb of the master. I have the presets to Original JPEG and have turned up the image quality to 12. Nothing is helping.

I would check the JPEG - Original Size preset to make sure the settings for that preset weren't changed. If you choose File > Export > Verision, then under Export Preset choose Edit and see what the settings are for JPEG - Original Size.

How to find the original RAW file # from a Lightroom exported JPG?

Hello, this is in regards to a Lightroom 3.5 exported JPG. This was a year ago when I had been told it was best to export files with simple renumbering of them from 1 to x... instead of retaining the original RAW 4-digit file name.
I've currently lost the original files, and need to do a search for them via these 4 digits to see if I have them tucked away in any of my drives. I downloaded a metadata explorer, and it's telling me all the lightroom editing information, and everything else, but somehow does not have the simplest of information — that 4 digit original file name.
Am I grasping at straws or is there likely to be any way to find this information out? I don't work with metadata, so there wouldn't have been any customizations to how Lightroom configures this....hoping that's in my favor. Any help is much appreciated!!!!

But, if you download it from:

It's coming from badguy.tv, NOT server.com, so if you want it from server.com - danger will robins...
And, if you download from
http://216.195.245.134/my.server.com
It's coming from an unregistered internet address (216.195.245.134) - again: danger...
(4 groups of up-to-3 digits separated by dots is the format for a literal internet (IP) address, instead of domain-name...)
Summary: if you learn the anatomy of a URL, and pay attention to the URL's you are clicking on, or entering directly, you can take more responsibility for security, and assure (to a greater extent) you don't download from an unfriendly source.

HT1349 Hello, how to move the iTunes master file from C drive to an external drive and them iTunes stick with the external drive after on an on going basic?

My desktop C drive is full HD of 1 TB, I would like to move the current iTunes master file to an external 4TB drive and then iTunes stick with the external drive

If it's the same as with a PC, the procedure would be to:
(a) Plug in the new external drive,
(b) Set your iTunes preferences such that the iTunes Music Folder is on the new drive,
(c) Use the iTunes "Consolidate Library" utility to copy your library to the new location.
(d) When the transfer is complete, check "Get Info" on some songs to verify their location.
The original files will remain on the old drive, so you'll have a way to recover should there be a problem. You may need to manually copy any iPhone/Touch Apps to the new drive since I'm not sure those are transferred with the Consolidate utility.
