How to export widescreen (1024x768) slideshow

Help! After creating my widescreen slideshow (1024x768), I found the only export option is 640x480. If this issue has been addressed previously, forgive me, as the search option on the server isn't working.

I figured it out. You need to "share" the slideshow to iDVD in order to export it in a widescreen format.

Is it possible to export an iphoto slideshow into keynote?
    Thanks!

Answered my own question! Exported iPhoto slideshow to desktop - where it appeared as a .mov file -- then dragged & dropped that into Keynote. It plays there, photos & music exactly as designed in iPhoto - remote works to start and stop also! Perfect!

  • How to Export an Aperture Slideshow to a DVD?

I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Aperture 3.2.2 on an iMac.
I have followed the procedure set out in the Manual by selecting "Export" and choosing "Export for HD1080p" and then burning the exported slideshow to a DVD-R but neither my DVD player nor Apple's DVD Player software recognise the resultiing disk.  I can successfully create a slideshow in iDVD and burn it to a DVD which will play on both platforms but I understand that iDVD is being or has been discontinued so that option will soon be unavailable.
What am I doing wrong?  Help!

Thanks again, leonie.  I will certainly continue to use iDVD as long as I can.  But the people at the Apple Store warn me that future upgrades to the operating syatem may not support iDVD.  I guess I'li cross that bridge when I come to it.
    Have a great day,

  • How to export an iPhoto slideshow

Can I export a slideshow made on iPhoto onto a flash drive to play on a Windows computer?

    Yes.
File -> Export and that saves it as a movie file. Then copy that to the flash drive.

  • Widescreen iPhoto slideshow export

I note that one of the changes with iLife '06 was to upgrade to widescreen for iDVD and Cinema display for iPhoto, but for the life of me I can not see how to export a slideshow from iPhoto to iDVD in widescreen format. Is there a set-up that I am missing or some sort of hidden short cut.
I trust that I am missing some sort of step as I can not believe that I can burn DVD's in widescreen but have slideshow's still in 4x3 format.

I haven't used this myself but if you click Settings (after you're in the slideshow), look for SLIDESHOW FORMAT near the bottom. You can change from Current Display to "4:3 iDVD/TV" or "16:9 Widescreen".

  • How do I export an iPhoto slideshow from my iMac to my iBook?

How do I export an iPhoto slideshow from my iMac to my iBook?

For the slideshow in the form of an Quicktime movie just export the slideshow via the export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window
and select the size to be created
If you want to have the slideshow in your iBook's iPhoto Library as it is in your iMac's library you'll need to copy the entire library from your iMac to your iBook.
A 3rd option is to export the photos used in the slideshow to a folder on the Desktop, copy that folder to the iBook, import into the iBooks library and recreate the slideshow.

Ask in the iDVD forum on what's the best way out of iPhoto and into iDVD.  The resident expert there, Bengt Wärleby, can give you the best option.

    Hello,

I exported an iphoto slideshow to desktop, converted it to mpg file by using the BURN app, burned it to a DVD and exported it to a USB flash drive. The DVD looks great and very sharp but the slideshow on the USB flash drive is extremely fuzzy. What is the difference and how can I make the slideshow on the flash drive look as sharp as the DVD?

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • How do I Export iPhoto 11 Slideshow to DVD?

    WARNING! Rookie here!
Hello, need some help with iPhoto...
I'm trying to create my first slideshow in iPhoto 11 and export the file in order to burn a DVD and play it on Samsung BlueRay/DVD player and a HDTV (Samsung 46" LED; FWIW: both Samsung devices are about 2 years old).
I tried one version and, when I played it back in Quicktime before trying to burn a DVD, it was fuzzy/pixelated.
The slideshow consists of jpegs (between 9 and 14 MBs) and about 20 short (15 to 30 second) videos from a Sony camera set to AVCHD 60i/60p and producing .MTS files. I converted the .MTS files in Adobe Premiere Pro to .mov files (first time doing that, too!) and interspersed them in the slideshow. The slideshow works just fine when played back in iPhoto etc.
But what settings should I use for export to a slideshow file that will work well when burned to a DVD? I would like to take advantage of the 46" HDTV's full screen and use the 16:9 ratio, but not sure what's best. I don't care if the stills don't fill up the screen at that ratio, but I'd like the videos and the panorama stills to do so, if possible.
Any guidance will be much appreciated!

If you have the iLife boxed set then use iDVD from it. Or you can purchase the boxed set via third-party vendors like eBay or Amazon.com. Or you use a third-party replacement such as Roxio's Toast.

  • Sharing widescreen iPhoto slideshows to iDVD?

    Hello,
I am trying to determine the best balance between picture quality and ease of use in creating slideshows. I have tried creating 720p "movies" with photos in iMovie, but so far iDVD has crashed every time I tried to use these to make a DVD. I then tried creating a widescreen iPhoto slideshow, and "sharing" it to iDVD. It worked, but the quality was horrible AND the exported movie was cropped to standard format!
Does anyone have any feedback as to the best way to achieve high quality DVD slideshows? I would prefer to use Ken Burns effects if possible. I don't care how long it takes to encode, so two-pass is fine.

Personally I prefer to create the slideshow directly in iDVD from stills imported from iPhoto (after cropping to the recommended 4:3 ratio beforehand). It's my opinion and experience that I get the best image quality that way. iDVD also lets you have titles or subtitles on slides. The titles that you put on in iPhoto get cut off once imported into iDVD as a QT movie.
Also, creating the slideshow in iDVD gives you a true slideshow, with forward and back buttons, if desired to be shown, and the user can use the forward and back buttons on the DVD remote to activate them.
Since I'm not a fan of the Ken Burns effect I don't lose anything this way over going thru iPhoto. To each his own.

  • Urgent! export widescreen quicktime to dvd-r

Help! By this evening I'll have to figure out how to export a widescreen quicktime to dvd-r. I tried 'send to idvd' but I don't know idvd and can't figure out how to disable the preset menus. I don't want any floating drop zones for this project, just a simple self-running slideshow on a plasma widescreen, for my boss's wedding anniversary. That's why it's top priority...

    Hi Lori,
that link is very useful, thanks.
In the meantime I managed to eliminate the unwanted pieces from a theme, so I ended up with a single text-button on the first screen. The dvd-r I burned worked perfectly well on my own dvd player and widescreen tv.
My boss's wife was very happy with the slideshow and music. I just hope the dvd will run on their system as well. If it doesn't, I'll spend friday night rebuilding the show without the 16:9 stretch, for display on a computer...

  • How can i share a slideshow that i made with 8 people can i email it to them. it contains 2 200 pictures

How can i share a slideshow containing @ 200 pictures and music with 8 friends? can i email it to them?

Export it to the Desktop using the File -> Export commad. This makes a movie of it and you can then share that.
I would caution you that as movie files are very large you might be best uploading to a sharing site or service like Dropbox and sending them a link
