How To Extend Droid X Battery Life

The 4.3" LCD screen is the main component consuming battery life.
Google/Motorola may want to look into a more intelligent display management software for large 4.3" LCD screen.
Example: Stay on when plugged into a recharger and turn off display when on battery.
Display turns off sooner as battery life diminishes.
Something like stay on maximum of 5 mins when battery is 100% and scale down to 1 minute for under 20% or something like that.
Linear scale or curved scaled or something.

I forgot to mention...
Settings -> Display -> Screen timeout
30 sec or 1 min
========= If running in GPS/Map mode, app may need to override phone settings... until about 50% battery life (or something) then setting overrides GPS/Map setting.
Orientation (pitch/angle) might be used to figure out if it's being used as a GPS and stuff, in case the user forgets to turn it off.
Intelligent turn off.
Just rambling... some ideas to improve Android/Droid X out loud....

  • How to extend iPad's battery life? I've tried everything possible

So basicaly I have this iPad 3 for 2 years now, and the battery keeps on draining. I'm not sure if it reached it charging times limit. I've tried everything possible, disable unneeded stuff, turn off background refresh, auto brightness etc. I've even booked a Genius Bar appointment and the person checked my iPad's calibration and it was OK, and he said its not needed and the cost (in CAD) would be about the same for a new iPad. Also charging is freaking slow too, even when I don't use the iPad while charging. Solutions will be appreciated if there's none I'll wait until the holidays and buy a iOS 8 iPad

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good. If your computer/iTunes does not recognize the iPad, then the cable is probably bad.
Try this first -  Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Take a look at this to make sure your settings are optimized to the best it can be.
If all else fails, try and restore through iTunes, set up as a new iPhone and manually sync your apps and media back to your iPhone.
If still persists after this, you might call Applecare and see if they can run a battery diagnogstics..

  • If i download CAD software how will it affect my battery life and macbook speed?

If i download CAD software how will it affect my battery life and computer speed?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
CAD software requires the best CPU and GPU performance, so your battery life will be affected while running CAD apps. The same will happen with your computer performance with other apps, so if you do not need any application while using CAD apps, it is better to close them.
However, your battery life and your computer performance will be the same if they are closed. The only exception would be if your MacBook's hard drive is running out of free space

  • My In Store Experience With Droid Razr Battery Life

I have a Droid Razr. I took it into a local store because my battery life is HORRIBLE. The phone had been off the charger for 1h40m minutes and it was already at 60%. The CSR told me it would take 40 minutes. When I came back he told me the test said the battery "was fine", and he went on to explain that it had only gone down 10% in the 40 minutes which is pretty bad. I left and checked the phone and it was at 40%. I thought I could get the battery replaced or possibly get a new phone but he just gave me the information and walked away. I had to track him down to ask him another unrelated question.
the battery has been on the charger the past few days more then i have been using it. i can't make a full day on a 100% charge, not even a half day. I charge at least once during the day, and around when im going to bed.

        Hi there Sas1983!
Having a battery that will last is definitely important! I'm so sorry for the less than super experience with your phone and at the store location. I would be delighted to provide some information and suggestions.
4G LTE Smartphones run a different radio so battery life is a little bit different. As you already know you can't remove the battery from your Razr so we absolutely want to ensure it's good!
You can manage your phone by using Smart Actions on your phone. Here's some information: http://search.verizonwireless.com/?q=smart actions razr&x1=t1&q1=support
You can also close running applications easily by "double tapping" the Home Key and then swiping the open applications to the right to close them.
Let me know how these additional steps help!

  • OG Droid Razr battery life

I have an original Droid and since I am not a big cellphone user I have never had a problem with battery life. I am just wondering if the Razr has similar battery life. I know the Maxx just came out but I am not sure if I would need the extra battery life. Thanks for any advice.

Yes, the battery life isn't the greatest with smartphones.
    As a reminder,
Battery life depends on the network, signal strength, temperature, features and accessories used.
It is common for batteries to be warm from use or charging.
    Tips for extending battery life
Avoid exposing the battery to extreme heat and cold.
For the first 3 charge cycles, fully charge the battery overnight and allow it to fully discharge before recharging (battery conditioning).
Charge and re-condition a battery after an extended idle period.
A Lithium-ion battery may be damaged by extensive overcharging (continuously on a charger for more than 24 hours).
Use the battery. If possible, avoid letting your battery sit idle for long periods of time.
Use only the phone options and accessories that are really needed.
Here are some tips that will help extend the battery life on your Droid Razr.
I also make sure I use my smart actions to help with battery life. I make sure my Razr is in sleep mode when I sleep.
Hopefully, these tips/tricks will help you with the battery life on your Razr and even the Razr Maxx!

  • Droid Razr Battery Life

I need help.....anyone know what to do to get longer use from my battery? 2 hours if even that long is about all I get out of my battery! Frustrated!!!!!

Ok has it Got the Latest Updates on it..?  On my 2 Razr Maxx's one has Jelly Bean and one has ICS both are still Running Stable although at times the Network drops back to 3G, but that could mean there just doing some adjustments
Well since it Set for a While i would Run it through a System Cache Clear, and see what that Does and one App that i would suggest Getting is System Panel App  it will show you what your Razr is doing how it's performing and it will show what apps are Running it's not a Task Killer if you have one on your phone get rid of it)  Panel App also shows the Battery Life the Temps of the Phone and the SD and internal Storage it's a Good app to have i'v used it since 2010 when i Got my Droid X my first Android phone..
Also when you charge your Razr do so by using the Charger that came package with it, It's the best to use to achieve the best charge for the Phone and you might Look at what you phones Data is set on if it is on Global switch it to LTE / CDMA and try that..
Let me know if that helped with the System Cache Clear and the Few other things i suggested if not  we'll try something Else Since you Mentioned allot of Apps you may have some that are in the Need for updating or some that need removing because of the Age of the App..

  • Droid 2 Battery life

I have had my DROID 2 for almost 2 years and im close to updating my phone.
but in the meantime, i'd like to have a phone that works well. (that being battery life)
i can charge my phone up to 100% and it goes from 90% to 50% in 30 minutes and then down to 15%.
This gives my battery about 2 hours, including standby...
Should i just get a new battery or what?
If so, how much are they, and would it solve my problem?

    Hi LeviRobey,
I have a Droid.  I am also having a problem with my battery. However, my battery problem is a little different but may be related to your question.  Maybe we can both get some guideance of the battery.
Right now I am NOT using the phone as a phone -- I am only using it to access the internet using my home Wi-Fi network.
WITH THE PHONE COMPLETELY POWERED "OFF". My battery is draining down from 100% Charged, down to 60% Charged -- a 40% loss over about 5 or 6 hours, Overnight.
I have even done a "Factory Data Reset" and have everything turned OFF and nothing running -- ie. NO Wi-FI, GPS, Sync. Location, Blue Tooth, Back -up or any other Services,
I may opt to get a new battery and see if that does anything.  Maybe you can try that also.  The cost of new batteries are pretty reasonable on EBay.
With your phone, maybe there are Droid and/or some kind of App or something trying to Down Load or maybe there is something else "running" in the backround. . .??

  • How do I fix the battery life for my iPod touch?

It has a very low battery life. I can only use apps for 1-2 hours. Please help me! Thanks

See this article for different ways to preserver and extend your iPod's battery life and health.
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html
How old is the iPod and are you letting it charge to full capacity each time?  Batteries do wear out over time and lose their ability to maintain a full charge at max capacity. It could just be a sign that the battery is wearing out and in need of replacement.

  • Droid 3 Battery Life issues

    All,
I've already gone through 3 Droid 3 phones and my battery lasts for less than 1/2 as long as my old Droid X on the stock battery and I'm running an Extended battery in my D3. I have CDMA set as the wireless mode and I have done factory resets and battery pulls, everything. I can't find anything that is using up the power, and the phone shows Cell Standby and Cell Idle as the battery killers (both average nearly 45% of the total usage in a day). This isn't right, and I expect Verizon to do something about this. Bear in mind that this post is coming from someone who has 3 years of Android experience and worked on the Cyanogen Mod project briefly. --

Sorry to hear that you, too, are experiencing issues with holding a battery charge!  I would be happy to assist.

  • How long is the actual battery life of Macbook Pro?

what i don't get is how fast my battery drains out...
my primary usage is document study, photograph editing
web browsing. and occasional accompaniment of music in the back.
my battery life at the moment lasts for 6 hours max..
what should i do to get optimum battery life!??

My empirical experience shows that I get 60% to 70% of Apples advertised hours.  That is reflecting my 'normal' operating conditions.  Web, email, with iTunes in the background as well as Activity Monitor.  CPU intensive applications such as Aperture, Toast, Video viewing etc. drive battery life way down.
Six hours is most acceptable.  That is 'good' in real world conditions.
