How to extend the life of a fully depreciated asset?

Dear all,
Can anyone help? Is it possible to extend the life of an asset that was fully depreciated in Dec 2010? If no, is there any workaround you can recommend?

You can change it manually in the asset master. This will update the Depreciation calculation for the next Posting Run according to the Depreciation Key defined in the Asset master

How to extend the life of my ibook

I was going to buy a new MacBook soon, but I decided it would be better if I bought an iMac instead, but not until next summer. So not only do I need my iBook to work well for the next 9 or so months, but I would like to keep it for about another year after that.
Here are the specs: 1.42 GHz PowerPC iBook G4, 1 GB RAM, 404 battery cycle count, 60GB hard drive with 33.56GB remaining space, purchased May 2006, average battery life unplugged less than an hour.
Here are some problems that I encounter from time to time:
- Safari pages will stop loading after about 1/8th of the way. If I exit Safari and re-launch, I can click two or three more times before it stops loading again and I have to continue to repeat this process until it mysteriously fixes itself. Sometimes a reboot fixes it, but sometimes not.
- Safari will appear overloaded and the rainbow cursor appears for a long time, so I give up and exit Safari.
- My mouse is hyper sensitive. Like if I click once to delete a message in Mail, it will sometimes delete that message and the one above it, or sometimes Safari clicks back twice instead of once.
- Problems with working with Photoshop and other programs simultaneously (understandably.)
So given these issues and issues that will likely pop up in the future, what do you recommend? Other than these things, it works pretty well. Obviously I'd love it if it were faster overall, but so far I have had no reason to chuck it across the room!
I am going to buy a new battery and conserve it since I just researched all about letting your battery drain fully and many other tips.
I was thinking about buying a 1GB stick of memory to replace one of the 512's, but will this make a big difference in performance? Also since Apple doesn't sell it directly, it worries me. Would I be able to buy it from another online retailer and still have an Apple technician install it for me? Otherwise, I am nervous about installing it myself or having someone else do it. Any thoughts on the risk of doing it myself? I am pretty computer (and hardware) savy, but I have never operated on a laptop before.
Is there anything else I can do to preserve its performance? Anything I'm forgetting? Thank you all!

The general issues you face are probably due to lack of
system preventative maintenance; and lack of contiguous
free space on the hard disk drive, which also translates to
a slower use of hard disk drive free-space as Virtual Memory.
And if you buy an upgrade RAM chip, a 1024MB 200-pin SO-DIMM
from one of the reliable and Apple quality vendors, it should do well.
I bought a Samsung chip from OEMPCWorld.com and it meets all
the specifications for the computer (and other brands) and is low-
heat. The additional RAM may help the computer when running
several applications in addition to the system; since Page Outs
and other symptoms of lack of RAM or free space, or a general
lag in the system, can be evidence of the need for both.
The RAM upgrade I bought (via postal service) should be the same
specification as the one your machine takes... I chose the Samsung
and paid more, since it was the best and I didn't get it when I bought
the computer direct from Apple...

As computers age, and depending on use, the hard disk drive may
be further along in wearing out; so the performance of the computer
and safety of the data you create and store on the internal hard disk
drive may be in jeopardy. A new hard disk drive is a difficult chore
to replace; so the ability to and practice of making clones of the Mac
to an external FireWire hard disk drive is advised. A clone utility such
as Carbon Copy Cloner can help; and also find and buy a suitable FW
enclosed hard disk drive which can boot the computer from a clone.
The user accessibility of replacing the internal hard drive, and the level
of difficulty, makes that chore best left to an Apple trained technician.

How to handle a fully depreciated asset that has been brought back to life?

I have an old fully depreciated asset(from the 1990s) that has been brought back to life and has new cost to add to it.
The fixed asset master data looks like this:
Capitalization date: 01.01.1998
Historic APC: 0
Acquisition value: X
NBV: 0
Ordinary depreciation: X
Depreciation tab - no planned depreciation(for current fiscal year).
Now I want to add the new cost Y to it. I add a subsequent acquisition but the planned depreciation (on the Depreciation tab) is not what I expect. I can't figure out how it is getting that amount. Calculation should be Y / Useful life starting 1st day of current period.
The depreciation type setup is NBV / Rem life, straight line depr, prorata temporis.
Any ideas?

Okay, I have just realized how the system is calculating depreciation.
useful life = 36.
There are 3 months left in the current fiscal year. Depreciation is calculated as Y / (36 -9) = one month's depreciation.
Why? Is this correct from accounting point of view? My client expects the calculation to be Y / 36 even though we are in period 10 of the current year.

Does plugging in ones MBP extend the life of ones battery ?

IOW ... I would imagine that limiting the number of battery charging cycles extends the life of ones MBP battery ... so whenever possible, don't use the battery ... even for relatively short sessions away from my desk?

A cycle requires the cumulative discharge of the battery to empty, so whether you discharge the battery 100% at one sitting or 1% per sitting over 100 sittings, it's still only 1 cycle. In general if you are able to use the AC adaptor that is preferable, but if you must run on battery it doesn't really matter whether it's a long time or a lot of short times. It's important that the battery get discharged fully and recharged fully at least once very two or three months to avoid having the battery fail from disuse.

I assume that you already have one AirPort Express.....either a model A1264 or A1392.....set up and operating OK, is that correct?
If yes, you can extend the network either by using wireless or an Ethernet cable with a second AirPort Express.....either the A1264 or A1392 model. A wired connection is the way to go, if possible, since it provides better performance. But, wireless might work OK for you if you want to try that.
Let us know "how" you want to extend......wireless or wired?

How to extend the size of a layer?

Hi all,
Hopefully this is an easy one, but I think I'm just thinking about it wrong. I'm animating the movement of one part of a photo. I duped the photo layer, masked out the subject I want on the copy layer and have animated its position over time. Pretty straight forward. The problem is that as the item moves its edges are seen. I wanted to just use the clone stamp to add a little more to the image but obviously you can't paint or stamp past the edge of the layer. So I was trying to figure out how to 'extend' the bounds of the layer a little so that I can fill in the missing area.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I'm not having any success with this method. Here's what I have:
Original photo of kids with ball at playground. Ball is at lower left but partially cut off. Photo is on layer 1.
I duplicate layer 1.
Rename layer 2 to 'ball' and layer 1 to 'bg'
On ball layer I mask out the ball and then animate its position over the length of the clip.
When I precompose the ball layer (I tried both moving the attributes and leaving them as is) I get the new composition 'ball comp 1'. I open up ball comp 1 and change the composition settings to make the width taller.
So far, so good. Now I'm trying to follow your suggestion to then paint on the precomposition layer. Do you mean to go back to the original composition where the new pre-comp layer is and try to paint on it? If so, that doesn't work. If I select the Clone tool and try to paint the layer actually gets moved rather than painted on. If I open the new 'ball comp 1' composition and try to paint there it doesn't work either. And if I open up the layer in that comp that has the ball in it and try to paint there, the edges are still the original edges.
Any idea where I went wrong?

You have to make sure that the AirPort Express is in Factory Default Settings. If it is straight out of the box, it is ready to be configured.
The instructions that I will provide are for using AirPort Utility 6.0, which you have.
Locate the Express in the same room as the AirPort Extreme for the configuration. Power it up and allow a full minute for the Express to display a blinking amber light.
Make sure that the wireless is turned on your Mac
Open AirPort Utility 6.0 and look at the small rectangle in the upper left hand corner of the display. It should now read something like "Other AirPort Base Stations (1)"
Click on the rectangle, and then click on the AirPort Express xxxxxx listing
AirPort Utility will take a minute or two to analyze the settings on your network and then suggest that the Express be configured to "Extend" your wireless network.
Edit the Base Station name to your liking, then click Next in the lower right hand corner
Allow a full minute or two let AirPort Utility do its work
When you see Setup Complete, click Done at the lower right of the window.
Now move the AirPort Express to a location that is approximately half way between the AirPort Extreme and the area that needs more wireless coverage.
You should be in business.

1) Give you basic IDOC type at the object name
2) select the Extension radio button
3) click on create button
4) it asks for 3 types of extension . so give the basic IDOC type over there
5) give description and click on continue button.
6) so at which segment level you want to add your segment, select that particular segment and click on create segment button and place your already created segment.
7) save and go back.
this the procedure of extending an IDOC.
