How to extract restriction passcode

Bought a new Iphone 5C and I am wanting to use my old Iphone 4 like a iPod.  Need to reset my content and settings but I don't remember my restriction passcode after 2 years and I need to find it, this is not the passecode when you first turn on the device.  How do I look for it?

    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

How do you reset your Restrictions Passcode if you have forgotten it?

    Recover Restrictions Passcode.

If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the
Back Up option. If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary
              to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore or have forgotten your restrictions passcode, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

    Remove restriction passcode
    1. Restore to Factory Default
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    2. You can restore from a backup that was done before you enable the Restriction Code.

  • How to reseet restriction passcode? I don't think I have set it.

It looks like iphone passcode and restriction passcode are different. I have not set the restriction passcode before. How do I reset it w/o re-intall the software?

It depends.  If you haven't ever set it, when you go into restrictions it will prompt you for a password.  At the top of the screen, it will say "Set a Restrictions Passcode".  You can then enter a 4-digit number (make sure what you are entering and writing it down).  It will then prompt you to enter it again.  Once you've done that, you can enable and disable restrictions.
Later on, if you disable restrictions, you will be back at square one and can re-create a new passcode.
However, if you've set it, or for some strange reason iOS 5 or someone else set it, you're stuck.  Look for this thread for ideas and frustrations.  The solutions there do not work for iOS 5.   https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2667637?start=0&tstart=0

  • How to recover restriction passcode that i forgot?

attempted 22 tries to turn off my restriction passcode, never succeed.

The recommended solution is that you have to reset the device as new because if you restore from a backup, the backup will also have the forgotten Passcode in it and yo will just be restoring that Passcode to the iPad. However, if you have a backup that does not contain the Passcode, you can restore from that backup and that should solve the problem.
If you are a little more daring, I found this in my Pages app. I copied this months ago and forgot all about it. You can read it and see if you want to give it a try. Everything inside of the + signs is what I copied from another discussion and they are not my instructions.
+1. Download iPhone Backup Extractor http://supercrazyawesome.com/ (This is for OSX, if you are using Windows there are other Backup Extractor programs although my iPhone syncs with a Mac so you will have to tweak these directions to work with the Windows program, here is one of the Windows programs I found: http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com/)
    2. Extract the Zip file you downloaded, move the App to your Applications folder, then run the App
    3. Click on Read Backups, in the window that pops up click on the backup file of the device you need the lost pin for, then click Choose
    4. You will have a list of all the Apps on the phone. Scroll to the bottom of the list and click on iOS Files, then click on Extract. Choose a folder where you want the files to be extracted to.
    5. After it finishes extracting go to the folder where you extracted the files and follow this directory path: iOS Files --> Library --> Preferences
    6. In that folder find the file "com.apple.springboard.plist" and open it. (Read note below if on Windows)
    7. In Property List Editor look for the key titled "SBParentalControlsPin"
    8. Look to the right of that entry and you will see the 4 digit PIN. You can now remove/modify parental controls
(NOTE: If you are on Windows and do not have a program that will read PLIST files then open the file with Notepad instead. It will mostly look like garbled junk and words running together but towards the end of the file look for 4 successive digits, if there is more than one place with 4 successive digits then try them all, one of them will be your pin).+

  • HT1766 iPod 4th Gen running ios 6.1.5 how to remove restrictions passcode

One of the kids has accidentally input a "Restricitons" passcode on this iPod.
I have done a factory reset and back up from iTunes but this hasn't worked at removing the RESTRICTIONS.
I'm now at hourly guesses to try and randomly work out the code but this will take a lifetime!
Suggestions please - and they need to be for a non-techy.
It is set to sync to iTunes via cable.

    Forgotten RESTRICTIONS Passcode
    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod. . Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
    - If you are up to file manipulation see the following but it may not work for iOS 6.1.3 or iOS 7

  • How do I reset an iPad 2 to factory defaults when I can't recall the Restriction passcode?

I have tried all of the suggested reset methods and still cannot reset to factory defaults. Somehow I setup a restrictions passcode that I can't find or remember so I seem to bee stuck.
    Does anyone have a solution?

The only option is to wipe the device clean and restore it to factory settings.
Follow the instructions in  iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.
