How to find hidden admin account?

Hi guys,
My jerk, software-engineer brother recently hid the admin account on my computer and changed the password. He refuses to fix it, and now I need to find out how to unhide the account (I already know how to change the password). Does anyone have any advice on how to do this?

Hidden admin account not working after updating to ML

on Lion, i created a hidden admin account called ".admin" [the dot making it hidden]. this was my only admin account. after upgrading to Mountain Lion, the password is not accepted. it typically didn't show up in the user list and i can't access it from login screen. i do see a "admin" [no dot] folder in the Users folder. but any attempts at logging in to that failed also.

Apple says that admin accounts should be only used for tasks that require them, and not for any other reason. Apple even goes so far as to say to never browse the web or check email while logged in to an admin account.
The reason is for security. When logged in to an admin account, everything you do, every program and process you run, runs with elevated admin privileges. Running with higher privileges than is necessary can be a security risk. There is no reason for your web browser, for example, to be running all the time with admin rights.
If you're currently running as admin it's easy to switch. Make a new admin account, and change your previous account from admin to standard. You can then continue using your old account as you always have.
You'll find that you rarely if ever need to actually log in to the admin account. Nearly all admin and even root tasks, like installing software, can be done from any non-admin account, by entering the admin username/password when prompted.

in 11g version we can query the view DBA_USERS_WITH_DEFPWD to view the users....

thanks in advance.the only way I've found is to search the web for lists of default users and their passwords, then attempt to log on with said credentials. I'd start with Pete Finnigan's site (google is your friend). He may already have some scripts ready to go, or at least the lists you'd need to get started.

i checked in FS00 for my gl accounts.
1. 60004100 : Tax category is Only input tax allowed
posting without tax allowed is ticked .

Well, it sort of solved my problem. Now every time I start a lecture with sound, there is no sound, but the slides advance. If I go back to iTunes and turn on a cd, it plays the sound. If I then go back to the lecture, the sound goes on. So each time I start a slide show with sound, I have to turn on iTunes. How can I fix this?

Hi,
I finally found a report which can be used to find the GL Accounts not posted. You can use the report S_ALR_87012311 - G/L Account Balances and Line Items to find out the GL Accounts not posted. Run the report by ticking the checkbox "Print Accounts not posted to".
This will give the list of the accounts not posted based on your data selection.

Query on table : EVER.
select vertrag from ever where auszdat(move-out) = sy-datum.
EVER table
EINZDAT ( Move-in date)
AUSZDAT( Move-out-date)
EAUS :: Move-in Doc. for Cont Account.
EAUSV :: Move-in Doc. for Cont.
You can query on these tables also.

i am using master password setting. also i am using multiple accounts for login. meanwhile in begining my work going normal but after some period i experienced that my 1 or 2 account details are not stored in in master password feature. i also check marked "keep me sign in" to remember my details. how can i find these account track for account user name. i am using sync option to save my all details. i found link in history but after clicking on it it redirect to login account page to which i almost forgot my username of it.please help on these how to find only username of these acc.

Thank you for your question, I understand that you are using master password and sync, last I heard this is not recommend. If you disable the master password temporarily, does this issue occur?

As Babu says on tx. FS00, FSP0 you can see whether the flag for "P&L account" it is set or not (and hence the balance sheet entry it is flagged). In case so, your account it is a Expence account. You can also see this on table SKA1, field SKA1-GVTYP.
We an account it is a P&L it usually needs a controlling item (cost center, PA product, Order, ...) but if in your case you need your account to ask specificly for a Cost center you must set this thanks to the field status group asociated on dynpro "Create/Bank/Interest" on tx. FS00.
The field status groups are set on tx SM34 for view V_T004V, and if you select the one asociated to your GL account for the fields status variant in use for your company code, you could check that for the "Additional account assignments" fields groups the flag on "Cost center" it is set or not.
If not you have two options:
a). Check for another suitable field status group that had the suitable control entries activated and assign it to your GL account by modifying it on FS00 tx.
b). Create a new group on SM34 / V_T004V for your variant as a copy of the one currently in use, and afterwards modify the entry for cost center to "Required entry". The next step it is to assign this new group on tx FS00 to your GL account by modifying it.

That's gonna be a fun thing because Outlook and OWA use EWS for some functions so regular Outlook users will show up in EWS logs. but this should help

How do I repair admin account permissions in OS 10.6.8?

An attempted installation of the the Canon XF Plugin for Final Cut Pro 1.3 has failed (stopped before installing) showing an Error = 1. The folks at Canon pro support say this is a Mac OS error, and recommended that I need to repair my admin account permissions. They suggested the following:
1. Enable a "root user"
2. Repair permissions under the root user account
3. Login under admin account (hopefully now repaired) and attempt plugin installation again
Has this happened to any other FCP users and does this sound like the right process?
Is there a support article that documents the first two steps above or do I need to do this over the phone with Mac Customer Care?

No, that error code has nothing to do with permissions. It may mean your system installation has some dysfunction. If the above doesn't fix things, then reinstall Snow Leopard:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

Hidden admin account

I support a couple of Macs with ... headstrong users (they're teenagers), who insist on being the only admin accounts on "their" computers. I want to set up an admin account that doesn't appear on the login screen, that I can use periodically to check out what's happening on the computers.
My guess is that this can be accomplished by enabling the root account and logging in via the terminal window. But I don't have unix skills, and I would hope to end up in an ordinary Mac OS account (albeit one that doesn't appear on the list of user accounts in the system preferences window). An account that I could use only via unix commands wouldn't be much use.
All suggestions are welcome.

There is no real effective way of doing this other than using the command line - which you don't want to do. Besides seeing as they are local admins they can easily undo everything you do anyway. UIDs below 500 are indeed invisible. In addition to the Accounts Preferences Pane you can use the command line utility dscl to create users with UIDs below 500. To see a list of local users and their IDs launch Terminal and issue this command:
dscl . -list /Users UniqueID
You have the added 'bonus' in that no home folder needs to be created. That account can then be made a member of the local admin group. Again using dscl. Then again they could easily undo all of this because they are local admins.
The suggestion to use OSX Server again falls foul of the fact they are the local admins. They can easily remove any information used to join the domain.
Something you may want to consider is to enable root anyway but give it a different password. One they don't know. Fair enough they get to see 'Other' at the login window but should not be able to go any further. If you have Apple Remote Desktop you can monitor what they do without them knowing it by using the root account and enabling Remote Management whilst logged in as root locally. I'm not sure if they can switch it off whilst logged in as themselves thereafter?
Something you could try perhaps?
