How to find missimg folder in TM

I keep at the right-hand end of my Dock a folder of misc. data I use frequently - where in Time Machine backups do I find previous versions of this folder so as to restore from TM a previous version ?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select the Mail/V2 folder and enter time Machine.

  • Upon installing Thunderbird on my new computer (after using Outlook and hating it) I am missing at least one folder. How do find that folder?

I have a new computer. My IT support asked me to give Outlook email another chance. I did for a week and decided it's not to my liking. So I installed Thunderbird.
I did a search to find an email, and the search came back - 0 found. I knew this was wrong.
I then went to find the folder the email would have been stored in and found that folder is missing from my fold list.
I do see the folder on my old computer which is still alive, but it's not showing up on my new computer. These are not local folders but are listed in the University's email server.

Sounds like you have an imap mail account.
If you cannot see a folder which is on the server, then you need to subscribe to see it.
So first question is 'Have you subscribed to see it?'
If it is a subfolder, you will need to subscribe to see it as well as the higher tier folder it is in.

  • How to find system folder in Mavericks?

How do I access system folder in Mavericks?

Now I understand your question.  Have a look at this thread and follow the steps given by gordonol and elgrego...
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23567732#23567732
    1. There seems to be a simple solution within Finder. Remove both:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/GameKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/gamed
    and
    /System/Library/Launch Agents/com.apple.gamed.plist
    or
    2. Open the Terminal app located in the Utilities Folder. Then copy/paste and run these commands, one at a time:
defaults write com.apple.gamed Disabled -bool true
    then
    sudo launchctl stop com.apple.gamed
I hope that solves your problem, but now see how bad it is and why you want to access the System Folder too!
Just click on "MacIntosh HD" in the sidebar of Finder. Then navigate to the folder given in the link.

  • How to find the folder (EBS_R12) in OEL 5 after copy/paste from Windows 7 ?

    Folks,
Hello. I have just installed Oracle Linux 5 as Guest OS on the top of VMPlayer. Host OS is Windows 7.
I downloaded Oracle E-Business Suite R12 from edelivery into Windows 7 in a folder(EBS_R12) on my LapTop screen.
In order to install EBS R12 into Oracle Linux 5, I copy/paste the folder EBS_R12 into Oracle Linux 5 screen. The file size is about 50GB. After coply/paste is completed successfully, I cannot find where is the folder (EBS_R12) in the Guest OS Oracle Linux 5.
Can any folks tell me where is the folder (EBS_R12) in Oracle Linux 5 after copy/paste from Windows 7 ?

    Hi,
After coply/paste is completed successfully, I cannot find where is the folder (EBS_R12) in the Guest OS Oracle Linux 5.Was the copy/paste successful.
If yes then you can do the following
    #find / -name EBS_R12 -type d -print
(Assuming you copied the folder "EBS_R12" , But not its contents).
    Thanks

  • How to find the folder creator? (Not owner)

    Hello
I want to find who created a folder on my server? someone created a folder and have changed the owner to a disabled user! is there a way?

I would like to confirm if you have auditing enabled ?
If not yet, you need to enable auditing first and it will help you to audit such changes made on file server.
Here is an informative resource that provides step-wise instructions to enable auditing on file server and track all the critical changes :
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc784387%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
Meanwhile, if you want to track such changes automatically, you may also check this automated solution
http://www.fileserveraudit.com/  that looks a good approach to meet with your requirement and get real time alerts for the same.

  • How do I find a folder within a folder?

Some of my folders have disappeared. I can search for an e-mail within the folder, and the location lists the correct name of the folder. However, I cannot figure out how to find that folder so I can access it. Is there a way to trace where an e-mail is stored, or see a tree of folders that an e-mail is stored in? I'm using a MAC if if helps.

Matt, Thanks for the comment. I pasted the code into the error console and after clicking on Evaluate, nothing happened. Maybe I did something wrong?

  • How to get trash folder in finder?

How to get trash folder in finder?

    Hello Neil,
Here's a challenging adjunct to the physical location of trash question above.  I moved home folder of my login to a different partition (data only) which all worked fine.  Then I trashed the original home folder which was on the Boot OSX partition (just to be tidy as it was not needed any longer) now the MBA says "cannot logon to this user for the time being".  So I clearly need to return the original home directory back from trash to my logon folder (eve though it is not really used).
However, how can I access my original logon user directory in trash when I am unable to logon?  Logged on to the root directory and using your go to folder solution above I have found the trash for root but I am unable to find the trash for my actual logon (which contains the trashed home directory)!
Any thoughts sir?  Thanks for your help.

I cant find the folder that is in my Yahoo account that people have suggested might be the location for the messages.  I recently signed into iCloud for the first time.  Any idea how to get the notes back?   I really dont want to lose them.

It should keep asking for the password, because it's trying to check for purchases... As soon as you login, it will see you have pending downloads and create the downloads section on the left below Purchases under the Store section. Then it will start the music downloads there, as they will be listed one below the other.
You could just try to check your account balance or view your account and that will trigger a password request too. You can just click on that and say that now iTunes keeps asking for the password and ask him to help you with that. Trick would be to interrupt him so that he carries on with another task after, so he doesn't notice the download. Or you carry on with email or browsing which you were "busy" with when iTunes interrupted you for the password (stupid iTunes)

  • File / Folder size... How do Finder gets it?

    Hi there!
While checking some of my hardrives for sucessfull shell script execution backups, i noticed that Finder took a loooot of time to provide the info about the Folder / File size on the Information window, while a simple ls -l could provide on the fly values regarding file or folder size, as always, fast simple and faithfull unix mindset!
Well, that makes me wonder, how does Finder calculates those values? Anyone got an hint?
Does it make it all by himself, if so. WHY? Been an "posix" system, shouldn't he be using whats already provided by its *nix heritage?
In this case, the value is already there, why don't use it and simply parse it to the desired format (MB / GB / TB)?
Maybe this could be only one of several features (GUI) that could improve it's performance from being more "conscious" of the system natively provided "toolkit".
Please, this is only my humble thouhgts on this, and please do shut me up if totally wrong!
Hope to get some nice and interesting feedback from the OS X community!
If there's a better spot to start this kind of discussion, please do mention it, i will appreciate it!
    Best regards.

Properties. Short Cuts, Change Icon resolved the issue after restarting. Problem resolved.. Thank you for all the help Dwain

  • How to find the Music and Movies folder in your Finder

I wish I bought a cheap computer with low GB space because MacBook Pro GB is not enough so you have to buy an external harddrive anyway.
Anyway I wanted to delete some music files but I couldn't delete it from the Disk Inventory. I remember someone from Apple navigating my files from the Finder Macintosh HD and saw how much GB of movies and music I had and then I could delete it then and there, but I can't find the folder he went to. I found it once after so much hard finding and then I got lost again as I tried to find it again today.
So how do you find that place?

    Whitecity wrote:
Out of interest, how much space is on your harddrive? Replacing it with a larger one is easy and cheap.
It is much easier to purchase an external HD and store the ITunes library on it.

  • What is a root folder and how to find folders afte...

Can someone tell me what a 'root folder' is and how to find icons once you've moved it there?
It's actually my boyfriend's phone and he uses it for construction site pictures and this morning he woke me up as he couldn't find it anymore. He needs to locate the folder asap as he needs to download pics onto the computer and send them to clients straightaway in batches.
I connected the phone to the computer using the usb cord and it asks for options on the mass storage transfer. I selected 'images' and then on the control panel of windows, select digital still camera. At this point, the computer stalls as it is trying to search for the pictures folder but cannot locate.
I'll never move anything to this 'root folder' again. I was just trying to put the icon on the main menu (the way you can do with a blackberry)
He's already gone for work so took the phone with him, so I thought of giving this forum a try.
    Thanks for help in advance

    Hi there!
Well If what you did is you transfered the Pictures from one folder to another using your phone, the Root folder is the main folder so lets say you transfered it to the memory card the root folder is the memory card.
    Hope tis' help!
