Help

You can try logging in icloud.com but I doubt you'll be able to find it since you didn't install the app.

I downloaded and paid for an app on my ipad, how can I get it free on my iphone without using itunes as my laytop is broken. I cannot seem to find the purchase tab in app store? I am logged in using the same ID

First, the app must be universal...designed for both iPhone/iPad:
    Tap App Store.
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
    Tap Updates.
Tap Purchased on the resulting screen.
Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
    Tap the download icon.
The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen.

how can i find my lost iphone without the app?

If you enabled Find My iPhone on your phone before it was lost, you may be able to track it on icloud.com as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442.  If you didn't, there is no way to track it.

  • Does anyone know how to find my iPhone without the Find My iPhone app?

Hi, I lost my iPhone Friday night. Ironic I know, Friday the 13th, who coulda had worse luck. Every person I ask what to do, tells me I should use the Find My iPhone app. BUT ITS RUBISH. IT DOES NOT HELP ME IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. WHOEVER INVENTED IT DID NOT ACCOMMODATE FOR IF THE PHONE WAS STOLEN OR LOST WHEN IT WAS SWITCHED OFF. Its obviously locked via passcode and lost mode on Find My iPhone but really anyone can bypass it or restore the phone which is what worries me because once they do that there is no way of finding it since the phone is only traceable through iCloud in partner with my apple ID. So thanks whoever invented Find My iPhone. It was just further confirmation that any chances of actually finding my iPhone are non-existent.
And I believe Apple has a way to find it via the 982149810 different kinds of product codes such as the serial number or the IMEI number but they choose not to, A) because they do not want to bother themselves and B) because they'd rather have you pay full ******* price for a brand new one. Which I'm not going to do. That phone has restricted and confidential material on it and it needs to be found NOW.
There must be a way to locate the phone. I've heard of ways that the police has worked side by side with carrier companies to track it. Unfortunately I cannot do that because I purchased an originally unlocked cell phone at full retail price from the Apple store itself. I know there is a way to find it. There has to be. Also, I heard that an Apple Certified Mac Technician can help find it. Does anyone know the number of any here in Canada? Prefferably the GTA? Please help me out.
    Thank you.
P.S. If I never find my iPhone, I'm switching to Android. They have an app that helps you find the phone even if its switched off and an app for after it gets stolen. Meaning it doesn't have to be installed in the phone before it was stolen. BECAUSE THEY ARE SMART AND CONSIDER ALL OCCASIONS. LEARN FROM YOUR COMPETITORS APPLE. ADIOS APPLE.

There is no way to remotely track any device that is turned off, or does not have an internet data connection.  In that case, no remote system can possible communicate with the device, nor the device send any information to any remote server.  Any device, not merely an iPhone, shares that same limitation.  Remote tracking is only possible if the device and the tracking system can talk to eachother.
Apple does not offer any other feature because they are not a law enforcement agency.  They are bound by the same privacy laws that keep you from snooping in somebody's house just because you claim they have something of yours.
Of course there are alternate ways to track a powered on and connected cell phone, but Apple has neither the legal nor the moral authority to do such things.  Just because something is technically possible does not mean that any big company and just go out and do them.
Since when is it always "someone else's" fault and responsibility to deal with your lost or stolen private property?  I don't get this mentality of passing either the blame or the responsibility on to someone else.

  • HT4759 How can i use the find iphone app to find my ipod without i cloud ?

My ipod has gone and i want to find it please i ned ur help it doesnt include icloud

It sounds like you need some clarification.
Find my iPhone = Find my iPod = Find my iPad = Find my Mac: a service that lets you locate any of those devices, assuming you turned it on on that device before you lost it.
iCloud: Find my iPhone (and friends) is one of the many iCloud services.
That being said, did you turn on Find my iPod on your iPod before you lost it? If so, go to icloud.com or use the Find my iPhone app on anyone's iOS device and log in.
If you did not turn on Find my iPod, then you're out of luck.

  • How can i find my phone without the find my iPhone app?

i lost my iphone while going to a car my friends say that it might of dropped in the floor i said maybe in the car i checked everywhere in the car and i cant find it.
My moms sim is in my phone we have the same number yet no one can call or send me a text. I dont think that i have a find my iphone app im not sure but when i downloaded it in my ipad and logged in i cant find my iphone in the devices.
so what can i do to find my phone im in big trouble i need to find this phone i lost it at thursday 22/5/2014 I need a solution my mom says i need to find it because who ever stole it can waste her money in her phone sim account

Your only alternative to find the iPhone is to start looking for it just as you would for anything else. There is no way the web or anyone else can help you.
Call the carrier and have her account on the iPhone disabled and then no one can usr it.

  • HOw can i locate a lost iphone without the "find my iphone" app

MY daughter has lost her ipod 4g.  I previously was able to locate her via the find my iphone app, however, her ipod no longer shows up on my device list since its been gone.  Any suggestions?  Or should i just consider it gone forever?

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  This requires action before the device is lost/stolen.  Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

  • I made my own apple id because my family was getting my texts from other people. I want to add my device to my dads find my iphone app on his icloud but can't figure out how, without having to log in to his apple id on my phone. how do i add my device?

I made my own Apple ID because when I was logged into my dad's my family was receiving my texts from other people. I want to add my device to my dad's "find my iphone" app but without signing into his Apple ID on my phone because that was causing them to get my texts. I was told by Apple I could add my device to his by signing into icloud.com but there is no option that I can find to add my device. And I don't want to log back in to his.. Any ideas???

Also when I apply the safety copy it only imports the app the phones have had in common, so none of the apps that only the iPhone 4 had doesn't come in, only the ones I and the iPhone 4 has had in common. So you say the only way I can use the Apple ID to download on the old iPhone 4 is if I delete the apps that are in the phone and then download them again? How will that change the ID to download/update from. Won't it still have mine to update/download from?

  • How can I turn my ipod on remotely so that I can use the Find my Iphone app (sound mode) to find it

I have a ipod 5 gen and I lost it somewhere around the house. I've used the Find My Iphone app, but it indicates that its offline. So I'm guessing it ran out of battey or its turned off. That's why I am asking if theres anyway that I could turn my ipod back on in order for the sound to be played from FMI app. Thanks alot for any future help.

You can't, When off it is dead
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order

  • How can I re-sync my iPhone and iPad after accidentally deleting my iTunes library (without losing all of the apps on my devices)?

Long story short: A sequence of bad decisions on my part caused me to delete my entire iTunes library (song files, apps, itl file, everything in the music folder).  Another bad decision left me without a Time Machine backup of this folder. I have a backup of my music and I can redownload audiobooks from Audible, so I'm not stressed out about my audio.
The problem is my iPhone and iPad. I've downloaded >400 apps and have over 100 on each device. How can I begin syncing them to this new, app-free library without having every app deleted (along with their organization, settings and related-documents). I use these devices heavily so this is a huge conundrum for me.
The next step would seem to be to restore my audio files to a new iTunes library, but how do I then sync my devices to that library without wiping out every app on my iDevices?  I'm a pretty technical user and am willing to hand edit the ITL files if necessary.  I think that i _may_ be able to find a version of the itl file that's about a year old from an ancient backup. But that still doesn't solve the whole problem.
    Thank you,
    Spencer

I managed to lose an earlier reply I'd started before you came back with your "solved" so I didn't bother to retype it.
    It went something like this:
You should be able to recover the media with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into an authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup.
The older .itl file is useful however as iTunes should see this as the "home" library for your device which will allow you to preserve the application settings. (.itl file? Mac? I assume the library has migrated from PC to Mac at some point). Any files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder or did you kill those as well? The most recent of these would be the best place to start.
And no, the .itl file is not editable by mortals...
Once you've restored the media from backups or recovered whatever else you useful can from the device, the scripts MusicFolder Files Not Added and Super Remove Dead Tracks should help get the library up to speed with the contents of the media folder.

  • I have "find my iphone" installed on my iphone 4, which I lost last weekend. I opened the app once, but do not have an icloud account. Is it possible to find my phone? If so, how?

(I don't think I can set up an iCloud account on my computer because my macbook is too old to update to an operating system that supports iCloud, but could set it up on my brother's computer or something if it would be helpful.) This is just really frustrating because I know my phone is somewhere in either Ridgefield or Danbury, Connecticut, and like I said I do have "find my iphone" installed - just not sure if it's useful at all without already having the iCloud account - but I have no idea where/how to start looking.

The Find My iPhone app does not have to be installed on the device. The app only helps you locate other iOS devices from your device. What has to have happened is for you to have setup iCloud on the device and turn on Find My iPhone there. If that is on, you do not have to worry about installing iCloud on the computer, just open your browser and go to www.icloud.com. From there, log in to your iClooud account and you should be able to locate your device.
If you did not set up iCloud on the iPhone, there is no way for you to track the device. Make sure you change all of your passwords for all accounts you have on the phone, report it to the police and your carrier.

  • I want to find the best way to send my pictures from Aperture to CVS for processing.  How do I do that?  Also, there doesn't seem to be a good app to go from Iphone to CVS either.  Please help

How do I easly send my pictures from Aperture to CVS for actual printing?  I always have trouble finding my photos in the Aperture library when I need to load them into the CVS web interface.  I can't even tell which photos they are without seeing them.
Also, what's the best way to do it from my Iphone.  Doesn't seem to be a good app for that.

Export the adjusted version from Aperture to the Desktop. Download the exported version to CVS.
You shouldn;t be looking in the Aperture library (if by looking you mean using the Finder on the library). Use Apertures tools to do this. Besides the only thing you could get out of the library would be the  original file that you imported into Aperture not the version with your adjustments.
