How to find only photos in Maverick

The last OS I had I could just click on pictures and it would show me all photos I had on my hard drive. I can't see that on Maverick. Am I missing something?

If all you had inside the Pictures folder was Pictures, I suppose an older OS would have shown you all photos, but no version of OS X did that.
If you want to create a search folder, you could do that. Select your Home folder and type cmd-f. Set the criteria to kind is image and pick a type of image or all.
The search folder will show you all the image files in your Home, or on your Mac. You can save that to your sidebar and have it available when you want it.

Can someone tell me how to find my photos?I backed up my iPhone but Photostream was not on.pictures are not on my laptop so where did they go?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Backing up does not transfer your photos to your computer, if you don't want to enable photo stream, you will need to transfer your photos when your device is connected to your computer using iTunes.

Jim has a very good suggestion. There are many factors at work here:
    1) How are you connecting the external drive to the computer?
    2) How big are files (329 x 1MB is not the same as 329 x 25MB)?
    3) What is your computer specification?
    4) Do you have any power saving settings on (in particular something that would send the computer/hard drives to sleep)?

  • How to find all photos that have NO faces, as opposed to UNNAMED faces?

I find that iPhoto often misses faces entirely, especially if the face is wearing sunglasses or a hat or both.  Sometimes it is rather inexplicable that it has missed a face, as the face seems obvious.
If you use the smart album method to find all "unnamed" faces, the photos have at least one unnamed face identified.  You can then add any missed faces to those photos.
But what about photos in which iPhoto has failed to identify the existence of even one face?  Or for that matter, if I want to see only pictures of landscapes or objects that have no people?  Does anyone have a method for finding all photos that have no faces in them at all?
For me, the idea is to find all unidentified faces and add them.  But as I pointed out above, there may be other uses for this.
    Any ideas, anyone?
    Thanks

Awesome !!! Thank you very much. I did not realize you could use JavaScript to code against iTunes ...
I don't know if you have written any of these yourself, but do you know how to maybe create a smart playlist with this information via script? If not, no big deal. At least I know have something which I can use, I will just have to run it every so often.
Thanks again for pointing me to that site!

  • How to find mail folder in mavericks backups

Hi,  I am trying to find some mail messages that would be part of my backups of my computer. The OS is Mavericks.  I know that the folder "library"  is hidden and I can find this folder on my current system but I don't know how to find a hidden folder in a backup.  This is what I can see:
    Thank you for your help.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select the Mail/V2 folder and enter time Machine.

  • How to find referenced photos within the Photos app

    Problem:
Upon instructing Photos to use iCloud Photo Library, the app informed me:
"104 referenced files in your library will not upload to iCloud Photo Library. Select referenced files in your library and choose 'Consolidate' from the File menu to copy the original files into the library."
I do not know which 104 images in my library are referenced, and therefore cannot use "Consolidate" to import the masters into the library.
Can anyone tell me how to find referenced files, within the active library in the Photos app?
I am not asking how to use the "Show Referenced File in Finder" menu command. I need to identify a file as referenced first, hence this post!

Gotcha - came up with a workaround... since the photos were living in the Photo Library packaged itself, and not simply in another regular folder, I right clicked on the library and said show packaged content, then search for what folders the files lived in, then copied the files out of the packaged library into a folder. Then I was able to give the Photos Library access to the new folder with the files.
With all my files now references, I enabled iCloud Photo Library and am uploading now.
Hopefully my new local Photo Library will be smart enough to optimize local images and shrink to give me more space.
    Thanks.

  • How can I organize photos in Mavericks?

I am currently using Mavericks on a MacBook. I imported from an older Mac and from an older Linux machine. With all the sources, and with import trouble, I ended up with multiple duplicates of most of my files. Over the past several months, I have been converting old files, sometimes using the old Mac, I have been removing extra copies of documents, and I have started removing extra copies of music and podcasts, but I haven't been able to deal with all the extra copies of photos.
I tried iPhoto a few weeks ago. I tried importing photos into iPhoto and things went haywire, apparently I wasn't supposed to import old iPhoto libraries into the new one. I tried exporting photos from iPhoto too.
I have been able to organize many of my other photos, but I'm not sure how to deal with any photos which were only in iPhoto, or with all the photos which have slightly different sizes and completely different dates because of how and when they were exported from iPhoto.
Can anyone suggest a way to keep photos organized on the Mac? outside of an iPhoto library, so I can access them, and sort through them, and my other programs can access them?
On that note, I would like a better way to keep everything organized on the Mac. So far I have been organizing files by genre or topic, and I have been gradually adding extensions to old extensionless files, and I have been gradually converting old Word, AppleWorks, and iWork files. DupeGuru has helped, but the whole thing leaves me overwhelmed and my arms hurting.
    Thanks.

That is correct - you do not import libraries - you only open them - a library has multiple versions of photos in it along with face thumbnails, etc and if you import you get all of those - a mess - do you have a backup of you iPhoto library from before you did this import?
Can anyone suggest a way to keep photos organized on the Mac? outside of an iPhoto library, so I can access them, and sort through them, and my other programs can access them?
No - you can organize any way you please but nothing else is as good as iphoto - your best course is probably to learn how to use iphoto
You can organize using the finder and use review to view photos - and there are many photos organizing and viewing programs around - good or MacUpdate will give you lots - but IMHO none of them hols a candle to iPhoto for ease of use (if you use it correctly) and power
and you never have access your photos in iPhoto directly - again you need to learn how to us i.e. correctly - the correct way to access photos is using iphoto and the media browser - How to Access Files in iPhoto

  • How to find iPhone photo GPS location data?

I haven't found the answer for this by searching here, may be using wrong keywords.
I understand the iPhone camera can store the location as found by Location Services. But where can I find the actual latitude and longitude it stores in the EXIF data?
Over in iPhoto, you can right-click "show photo info" and the lat/long is there. I've only seen a reference in the Aperture manual to "show on map" which option then opens Google maps and shows map and lat/long.
How can I get Aperture metadata to display the lat long that is certainly present since "show on map" and Google see?
    thanks!

Simply view the Metadata pane, click the EXIF at the bottom-left, and enable the Latitude & Longitude.
For example, I've customized the pre-built "List - Expanded" into: http://classiarius.bingodisk.com/public/custom_metadata.jpg

  • PSE 4.0: How to find similar photos amongst thousands of photos

I'm looking for a method to find similar (for instance duplicated) photos, amongst my 7000 photos. I have PSE 4.0, and it looks like only 4 photos can be specified. I do not want to specify any number.
Do I have to use another programme, like ImageDupeless, PhotoSort etc? Or does PSE 5.0 handle this better? Or ... is there something I haven't understood?

Yes, I could probably do that, if I checked the names as well.
In a way, I have solved the problem by using the try out version of ImageDupeless (It found 81 photos, and I deleted 79 of those. Only about 20 had the same name and size.)
But I would prefer to use PSE. Its better to delete pictures in PSE, as well. If PSE 4.0 / 5.0 don't have things like this, I guess I would buy ImageDupeless (or another programme).

  • How to find the photos in iphone on windows

I just got my iphone 3G last week, i have been taking pics with my iphone, but the problem i have is that I couldnt find the pics i took either in itune or my pictures, can anyone help??
    thanks in advance

It seems that iTunes is only usefull for syncing photos FROM your pc to the iPhone and will not download the photos taken on the iPhone to your PC.
I found that I could use the microsoft camera and photo wizard to download the photos from the iPhone to the PC. It treats the iPhone as a digital camera.
I have noticed some 'bad behavior'. The iphone reuses numerical photo names so you will end up with multiple photos with the same "name". It would be better if the iPhone would continually increment the name and allow a prefix, like iP-xxxxx.jpg to avoid duplicates.
Once you use the camera wizard to download the photos to the pc, you can arrange them into folders and sync them back to the iPhone with iTunes. Folders will become "Albums" on the iPhone.
I found that orientation information seems to get lost in the process, and portrait photos tken on the iPhone get screwed up.

  • How to find system folder in Mavericks?

How do I access system folder in Mavericks?

Now I understand your question.  Have a look at this thread and follow the steps given by gordonol and elgrego...
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23567732#23567732
    1. There seems to be a simple solution within Finder. Remove both:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/GameKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/gamed
    and
    /System/Library/Launch Agents/com.apple.gamed.plist
    or
    2. Open the Terminal app located in the Utilities Folder. Then copy/paste and run these commands, one at a time:
defaults write com.apple.gamed Disabled -bool true
    then
    sudo launchctl stop com.apple.gamed
I hope that solves your problem, but now see how bad it is and why you want to access the System Folder too!
Just click on "MacIntosh HD" in the sidebar of Finder. Then navigate to the folder given in the link.

  • How to find which photo have assigned place, and which not?

    Hi!
My problem seams to be trivial, but after extensive search in built-in help and many tries, I'm giving up. Is there any way to make smart folder with all of my photos, that have no geotags at all? It would be great to have such folder, so tagged pics would be disappearing from it, with only untagged left. Please, help!

Silly me, such an obvious idea! OK, I did that, but with a little change - you have to select "does not contain", otherwise it will show you all already tagged pics. Thanks a lot!

  • How to move only photos from iPhone to iPad?

HI I bought an iPad Air 2 128gb. I also have a 16gb iPhone 5C that is out of space. Is there a way I could transfer ONLY the photos from it to my new iPad without using DropBox. (DropBox does not have enough space to transfer the pictures and I think that  $100 is to much money for this.)I have also tried a few App Store apps but they would only crash.
