  • How to find out about the SMTP Server

    Hi,
    I have been trying to configure groupware in the portal - in particular I want to enable the sending of emails through the portal. I already have a how-to-guide that that seems to explain the steps quite well. However, it mentions that I need to know the SMTP Server of the email. Can you tell me how to find out about the SMTP Server? Where do I need to look for the name of it?
    Thank you and regards,
    Katharina

    Hi Katharina,
    you need the SMTP server of your company. This means you can't look for it in the portal, but have to ask the responsible person in your company.
    Kind regards,

  • Turbo-Boost: How to find out about current processor sped?

    On the new Mac Pros the processors can enter Turbo-Boost-mode. How can I find out at which speed the processors are currently running?
    Thanks!

    It is complicated. Can happen in nanoseconds. And depends on processor and load as to how many cores will go to sleep and how many go into turbo... if the app is single threaded.
    It is something you don't really need to know or worry about.
    There are better tools for Windows to monitor core temp and frequency (and voltage).

  • How to Find out about CN21 rollout at my exchange

    Hi all. Whilst doing some mooching around on t'interweb I discovered that our exchange (Melbourne EMMELBO) is finally dragging itself out of the dark ages and having CN21 installed on 31/11/12. This is according to the data shown on both Kitz and SamKnows web site.
    Can someone tell me, whether this means that this is the date the equipment will be installed in the exchange, or when it will be rolled out to the customer.
    If it is the former, who can I ask about when it will be available to Joe public?
    Thanks

    hope just a typo as there is no 31/11/12 only 30 days in November.
    date is normally when wholesale expect to have completed upgrade to the exchange.  ISP's like BT retail will rollout after this date but it could be weeks or even months before BT retail customers get an email advising that BT are rolling out the upgrade to 21CN to customers.  There are numerous posts on the forum asbout this and how people have jumped the queue and upgraded sooner - normally involving a new contract

  • JS CS3: Is a property read only? How to find out...

    Hello all,
    I found out about the x.reflect.properties object and find it very helpful in my current project.
    Now I know how to find out about the properties of a dynamically given object :)
    But here's the rub: is there any better way to find out if I can actually change one of those properties (i.e. whether it is not "read-only") other than just to try {} catch(){} it?
    Thank you

    From the JS Tools Guide
    ReflectionInfo.type (String)
    The type of the reflected element. One of:
    readonly: A Read only property.
    readwrite: A read-write property.
    createonly: A property that is valid only during creation of an
    object.
    method: A method.

    How to find out my forgotton security questions answers

    Reset Security Questions
    Frequently asked questions about Apple ID
    Manage My Apple ID
    Or you can email iTunes Support at iTunes Store Support.
    If all else fails:
      1. Go to: Apple Express Lane;
      2. Under Product Categories choose iTunes;
      3. Then choose iTunes Store;
      4. Then choose Account Management;
      5. Now choose iTunes Store Security and answer the bullet questions, then click
          Continue;
      6. Sign in with your Apple ID and press Continue;
      7. Under Contact Options fill out the information and advise iTunes that you would
          like your security/challenge questions reset;
      8. Click Send/Continue.
    You should get a response within 24 hours by email.
    In the event you are unsuccessful then contact AppleCare - Contacting Apple for support and service.
    Another user had success doing the following:
    I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
    Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
      a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
          tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
      b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
          "done", in the upper right corner
      c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
          Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
          should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
          security questions.
      d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
          selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
          should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
          questions.
    It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.
    Good Luck friends!

  • How do I find out about apps for my business

    How do I find out about potential apps that exist but that I don't know of yet

    Hey,
    What I would recommend doing is contacting the local Apple Store in your area. All Apple Retail Stores have specialized business teams that hold free workshops on using the iPad for business and have lots of knowledge about business applications/uses. Give your local store a call and ask for the business team!
    Hope this helps =)

  • How do those who don't watch boards find out about firmware updates?

    Since 'Software Update' doesn't alert users to firmware updates, I wonder how those that don't monitor these boards and other 'Mac news' sites find out about firmware updates?
    Yes, Boot Camp made headline news in many major newspapers and those who wanted to install it found they needed to update the firmware first.
    But, had I not read about it elsewhere earlier, I would not have known about the second MBP firmware update (which, apparently, solves some of the 'whine' issues - I've had no whining but I like to keep my firmware, in particular, up to date!).
    Just as a note to Apple - you've a database of all who have registered their MPB's (at least those with AppleCare if not those who simply run set-up with new Mac purchases). If firmware updates aren't included in the 'Software Updates' procedure, shooting off an email to those with machines that might be in need of firmware updates may save a world of grief to overworked phone support techs.

    Yes, I'm familiar with the support page but my point is that not all (in act, likely very few) are familiar enough with that page to go to "Top Downloads" to find firmware updates.
    On page 25 of the MacBook Pro Users Guide, Apple DOES suggest, in the next to the last paragraph, suggest "For support information, user discussion boards, and the latest Apple software downloads, go to www.apple.com/support."
    But if a new user is having problems he or she is more likely than not to pick up the phone first - and although there's the 90-day phone support and 3 year phone support for those who purchase AppleCare (which new users may not - particularly if buying from, say, CompUSA or other stores who push 'extended warranties' even with the purchase of products whose manufacturers already provide LIFETIME warranties) Apple has thoughtfully provided automated Software Updates (which Windows switchers understand all too well!) but no automated way to be lead to firmware updates. It's my feeling that if firmware notification were included in SU notifications, or via email, it might reduce the number of phone calls and result in happier computers.
    While I enjoy reading all the Mac news on a daily basis, a lot of users don't and there may be an even greater number who don't know the wheat from the chaff (or even know where to find the wheat!).
    Some firmware updates are critical, some of minor importance, and some (more and more of late, it seems) just a bit cryptic (for instance, 1.01 says "This firmware update is for (MacBook Pro)/iMac (early 2006) computers with Intel processors only. It now runs on localized systems that use languages that read right to left." and then lists the languages supported - which do not include Hebrew or Arabic, two "languages that read right to left".
    The only reason that I brought this up is that there are a number of sites that reported that the firmware update alleviates some of the 'whine' that some MBP users are reporting (and now I am reading of 'hum' issues - forget GarageBand! An hundred MBP's could replace a symphony!). Now is that true or not? Apple doesn't say - some users report yes, some no. And as there are no whine or hum issues on the iMac, I doubt 1.01 would 'solve' any of those problems with that machine (and interesting, too, that the "iMac (early 2006) Firmware Update 1.0.1" isn't in the "Top Downloads" section as is "MacBook Pro (early 2006) Firmware Update 1.0.1": what's up with that? Are there really more MBPs out there than Intel iMacs? Or are MBP owners running Windows in Arabic more than Intel iMac owners? Or just hopeful that the update does, indeed, help with the whine problem.
    I keep getting off topic (sort of)...
    ...my point is that it would be simple to notify, and simpler for (in my opinion), Apple to notify customers of firmware updates.

  • Rm ${datafile}; how to force 10g to find out about it?

    Hey;
    I have a small oracle 10g test instance with which I'm hoping to become familiar with backup and recovery - my first topic of study.
    I have a list of backups both copy and backupset. After getting those, I identified the files in the database:
    2 from dba_data_files
    3* order by tablespace_name
    SQL> /
    FILE_NAME FILE_ID STATUS TABLESPACE
    /oracle/oradata/oci1/example01.dbf 5 AVAILABLE EXAMPLE
    /oracle/oradata/oci1/sysaux01.dbf 3 AVAILABLE SYSAUX
    /oracle/oradata/oci1/system01.dbf 1 AVAILABLE SYSTEM
    /oracle/oradata/oci1/undotbs01.dbf 2 AVAILABLE UNDOTBS1
    /oracle/oradata/oci1/users01.dbf 4 AVAILABLE USERS
    then blasted example.dbf;
    $ ls -ld /oracle/oradata/oci1/example01.dbf
    ls: /oracle/oradata/oci1/example01.dbf: No such file or directory
    I was thinking that would start screaming immediately in the alert log... so far, nothing. I then tried a query of the hr schema and that worked. That obviously means the hr schema is in the sga which is curious by itself because I've never queried that table before.
    Finally a report from the v$datafile_header is also showing everything is still there:
    SQL> select file#, status, error, recover, tablespace_name, name
    2 from v$datafile_header;
    FILE# STATUS ERROR REC TABLESPACE NAME
    1 ONLINE NO SYSTEM /oracle/oradata/oci1/system01.dbf
    2 ONLINE NO UNDOTBS1 /oracle/oradata/oci1/undotbs01.dbf
    3 ONLINE NO SYSAUX /oracle/oradata/oci1/sysaux01.dbf
    4 ONLINE NO USERS /oracle/oradata/oci1/users01.dbf
    5 ONLINE NO EXAMPLE /oracle/oradata/oci1/example01.dbf
    I also forced a check point with alter system checkpoint and still nothing in the alert log or v$datafile_header query.
    How long will it be before oracle does the 'holy crap!' thing and/or how can I force it to find out about the missing datafile?
    Thanks for any info..
    Doug O'Leary

    Actually, if, after removing the file from the O/S, you login to the database w/ a new session, this will give you a new server process (assuming you're not running shared server), and that server process would not be able to open that file. If you now do a select and force a full table scan on a table that has extents in the file that you deleted, your process should catch an error.

  • How do you find out about Kernel panics?

    Can anyone please explain to me how does one find out about Kernel panics, where to look etc? Thanks and regards

    When the operating system kernel, one of the most basic, foundational levels of the Mac OS X operating sytem, detects some kind of exceptional condition or internal corruption or when the hardware sends it a signal of some grave error, which can be a bug in the system software or a driver or can be a hardware problem and the situation is not one that can be dealt with and continuing operation is impossible, then the kernel "panics." It does it's best to shut down gracefully, but it's an abortive termination of all system activity, after which a reboot usually takes place (though you're notified and must intervene before that happens).
    It is a serious error and should not occur, but computer technology, both hardware and software, being what they are, there's no way to absolutely guarantee they won't happen. Unix-based systems such as Mac OS X have pretty good reliability, especially since Apple controls both the hardware and software. Still, 3rd-party software can be incorporated into a system, and Apple does not control or certify that code, so there's ample opportunity for poorly written add-ons (especially hardware drivers) to cause problems.

  • HT1918 how to find out your answers for questions

    hi i need to know how to find my id questions i cant remember my answers for them. need to know how to find and change please

    If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
    If you don't have a rescue email address then see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

  • How to find out which C library I am using?

    On my Solaris 9 UltraSparc system,
    % echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    /opt/gcc/3.4.4/lib:/opt/glib/2.12.1/lib:/opt/gnome/lib:/opt/openssl/0.9.7g/lib
    % /usr/lib/libc.so
    usage: ld.so.1 [-e option,...] dynamic-object [object args,...]
    On my Solaris 10 x86 system,
    % echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    /pkg/gcc/4.2.1/lib:/opt/gcc/current/lib:/opt/glib/2.10.1/lib:/usr/sfw/lib:/usr/lib/mps:/opt/openldap/lib:/opt/openssl/current/lib
    % /usr/lib/libc.so
    usage: ld.so.1 [-e option,...] dynamic-object [object args,...]
    On my Linux/x86 system,
    % echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    /opt/openssl/0.9.7g/lib:/opt/gcc/3.4.4/lib:/opt/binutils2.13/lib:/opt/glib/2.12.1/lib:/opt/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/lib
    % /lib/libc.so.6
    GNU C Library stable release version 2.6.1, by Roland McGrath et al.
    From the above, can one tell what C library I am linking to on the Solaris systems? If not, how can one tell? How do I know the exact location of the C library I am using?
    On the Linux/x86 system, I can use gnu_get_libc_version() to find out the version of glibc I am supposedly using. But it does not work when I compiled the identical C program using gcc on the Solaris 9/UltraSparc and Solaris 10/x86 systems. If I can use gnu_get_libc_version() , does that mean for sure that my C program links to glibc? On the other hand, if the linker reports that gnu_get_libc_version() is not found, does that mean for sure that my C program is not linked to glibc?
    Is there a function on the Sun libc similiar to gnu_get_libc_version()?
    http://docs.sun.com/source/819-3690/Using.Libs.html says "The Solaris operating system comes with several libraries installed in /usr/lib. Most of these libraries have a C interface. Of these, the libc and libm, libraries are linked by the CC driver by default." If one wants to link to the glibc library, how to override the default? How to find out the default? Is it in some environ variable? If one changes the CC driver to gcc, does the default remain the Sun libc? And if one compiles explictly using gcc, i.e. "gcc myprog.c", is the default C library the Sun Library, or glibc?
    gnu.org has a (web page for the) glibc manual but I am not able to find a Sun C Library Manual. Is there one?
    Edited by: hzmonte on Jun 28, 2008 1:43 AM

    I'll discuss only the Sun C compiler here. For questions about gcc, look in the gcc manual, or try a gcc forum.
    Run the command "ldd" on an executable file or shared library, and it will report the shared libraries that it will link to, based on any runpath in the file, and on LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Example: % echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH: Undefined variable
    % cc hello.c
    % ldd a.out
            libc.so.1 =>     /lib/libc.so.1
            libm.so.2 =>     /lib/libm.so.2
            /platform/SUNW,A70/lib/libc_psr.so.1 BTW, except possibly for testing, there is usually no need to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and setting it is usually a bad idea. For more on this topic see Rod Evans' blog:
    [http://blogs.sun.com/rie/entry/tt_ld_library_path_tt]
    Prefer to set a runpath in the executable so that no client needs to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
    If you want to know what libraries the C compiler will link, based on a given command line, you can add the -v (verbose) option, which will display each subcommand. Or you can use the -### option, which shows what commands would be run. Example: % cc -### hello.c
    ### Note: NLSPATH = \

    showrev -p | grep <patch>
    where <patch> is the patch number for the library. The patch number depends on the Solaris version. You can get more information at [http://sunsolve.sun.com].
    There is no manual specifically for the C library. There is a Solaris man page for each function in the library, and you can check the C Users Guide and the Solaris Linker and Libraries Guide for additional information.
