How to find shortest albums
What would be the easiest way for me to figure out what the shortest albums in my iTunes library are?
This is already a feature in Aperture Assistant, at least for non-Smart Albums (http://aperture-assistant.com).
You can have a go with SQLite3 calls and AppleScript, but be aware that it'll either end up more complex than you were expecting, or much slower. I know from experience...

I bought an album in the I Store and it shows there as a Purchased item. However, I cannot find the album in my iTunes and do not know how to redownload it. What should I do?
If you are in a country where music can be redownloaded then it should show in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage - that it where you can redownload items (as long as they remain in the store).

Photo albums are not searched by Spotlight Search. Go to Settings > General > Spotlight Search to see and reorder the available search items.

How can I synchronize my iPhoto events? my iTunes doesn't read them and with the app Images in the iPad I can only find Photos, Albums, Faces and Places, not Events.
I had a problem a couple of months ago when iPhotos suddenly rearranged the order of my Events (Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?) . I was told "Use albums not events - events are not a good way to organize - albums and folder are designed for organisation and are very flexible".
Haha! I should have paid attention and read between the lines! My iPhotos were highly organised groupings - not according to date but the way I wanted them - and it was so easy to do! I see now that if I had them all in albums, as per the Apple Apologist suggestion, I wouldn't have this unholy mess I have been left with just to make iPhone & iCloud users happy. I am now going through Photos and making Albums (of what used to be in my Events) ... maybe I'll get this finished before they do another non user friendly update! -

a) Short of scrolling down my very long list of password on the HUD - is there an elegant way to do it - How to find out which passwords were used to create an existing smart album? It's a recurring challenge for me.\ 'cause I like using smart albums, but once in a while need to check or chane the passwords.
b) With annoying regularity when I try to get to this forum and choose Aperture, I get the following message - in pink, no less: It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake.
Any clues?

that message may occur for four reasons at least:
Most frequently, when you are using an outdated link to a post that no longer exists, for example from an email notofication. Sometimes our community host will remove posts, that are in violation of the terms of use: see:

Or you are using the edit button or a bookmark to an "Edit" window, after the fifteen minutes allowed for editing are up.
Or you want to view a page in a restricted section of the ASC - soem perta are only open for members of level 6 or higher.
Or it is one of the unexplained problems with the forum software right now.

I really like Kirby's suggestion with the IPTC rule Keyword is. This is very useful for smart albums global to the library.
Frequently a different approach helps for my smart albums. Many of my smart albums are local to projects or folders. In this case the smart HUD will only show those keywords that have been used for the images in the selection. So if I only have tagged the images with the keywords "birds" and "slideshow", the smart settings HUD will only show these two keywords and the list is very short.
My Keywords HUD, is organized hierarchically; this way I can collapse large sections at once, and it is easier to focus on the keywords needed for a specific task.
I use the search field in HUD a lot, to filter the set of keywords shown. -

In simple terms, I wanted to view the photos in Windows system, similar strcture of iPhotosIf you want to copy all of your photos to a Windows machine and have them in folders representing the iPhoto Events the were in quickly and easily just do the following:
1 - open the library with the Finder as shown in this screenshot:
2 - COPY the Originals/Masters folder to the Desktop.
3 - copy the Originals/Masters folder to the Windows machine.
This will give you all of your original image file in their Event folder on the Windows machine.
NOTE: With iPhoto 8 or newer the Event folders in the Masters folder will be titled by date (EXIF) if imported from a camera. If imported from a folder the event folder will have the same title as the source folder. If imported singularly or in a group without a folder the title will be a date, either the EXIF date or import date.
With iPhoto 7 (08) and earlier the Event folders in the Originals folder will have the same title as the Event has in the library.
This method would be quicker but not provide the additional metadata you might have added in iPhoto like keywords, titles, descriptions that exporting out of iPhoto with Format=JPEG and the checkboxes selected to include keywords, titles, places, etc, checked.

So I bought the Bastille Bad Blood Album on my PC at home. Now I have a laptop and want to listen to this album. When I search this album in Itunes, it shows up as I purchased it, but when I search it in purchased, it doesn't show up. I don't want to buy the album again, how can I get this album in my library?

To get the songs downloaded to your notebook, go to the iTunes Store and click on the Purchased link in the Quick Links section. Once there you should be able to see a list of purchased content, find the album and click on the cloud symbol to download them again. Check the article below to walk you through getting your songs downloaded to your other computer.

I've formatted my PC, how do you find the album you have bought in there on my account again?
If you reformatted you disk, then you music was deleted.
Apple only allows one download and advises that purchases are backed up.
I guess you don't have a backup?

If you allow iPhoto or Image Capture to delete the imported photos from your iPhone, it will delete all photos you imported on the iPhone, also the favorites. And when you import, the "Favorite" tag will not be transferred. iPhoto only imports the original image file.

You will probably find your "Favorites" among the photos in your "Last Import" album in iPhoto's source list. -

Have you used the built-in migration plug-in? I'm not sure how LR handles iPhoto albums or events. there have been several reports indicating varying levels of success or otherwise, with import.

When I open iPhoto 9.2.1 it says that my library needs to be upgraded but when I upgrade the library I am trying to open (33 GB worth of pictures from 2006) the new application says it cannot read the files and how to find them on the system to reimport?! and then I'd like to erase the original files since the space requirement is huge!!!! Why is upgrading software iPhoto such a pain. I've gotta get a presentation done and all I get for my money is roadblock!!!
hello, it sounds like the library is damaged.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
