Javaw.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
I started getting this error a couple of days ago when I installed Open Office. Problem is that it happens with any java applications, not just Open Office. I have tried removing Java completely and then re-installing but so far have had no luck. I have tried JRE 6u19 and JRE 6u20 both with the same result.
I ran RegSeeker to see if cleaning the registry would make a difference but it did not.
I am running Windows XP.
Is there a way to get more information on this problem or any known solutions?
Thanks,Were you seeing this problem with 6u20 before installing OpenOffice?
- I was not seeing this problem before installing OpenOffice. Though I don't know what version of Java I was using at the time.
Which version number of OpenOffice was installed?
- OpenOffice 3.2.0
Are you seeing this from the command line?
- Haven't tried command line. This is the standard Windows error including the options to send an error report.
Is javaw.exe in your path?
- Path=C:\Program Files\PHP\;C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\
- So it would appear no.
Which javaw.exe is being used?
- I don't know. How can I find out?
If you run your app from C:\"Program Files"\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe do you see the error?
- Some confusion here perhaps. I am not trying to run an app that I wrote. I am trying to run anything that uses Java. So for example if I go to Control Panel/Java, it throws the error before opening up the Java settings interface. I am not really clear how I would try to do that through the console.
- Simply running javaw.exe from the command line does nothing. No errors or anything. However without any parameters to pass into it that probably shouldn't be a surprise.
- Oddly enough OpenOffice which supposedly uses Java does not throw any errors.

This happens especially with certain news sites (e.g., NY Times), but also with others. I've updated Firefox and plugins, and checked for the malware file nsBrowserOpt.dll in the components folder of Firefox. My antivirus is up to date. I was able to access the problem sites with IE, though Explorer gave me a similar error message this morning.
I'm asking for more information.
Please try that in [[safe mode]] and check for the issue. -
It started after upgrading Adobe shockwave, and I have used the Adobe remove tool and reinstalled and I have removed and reinstalled Firefox and it continues,
I was having this problem few days ago,and I have fixed.Try this steps-If you have AVG antivirus so go on firefox>Tools>Add On and Disable AVG safe search and AVG tool bars too. Then restart computer.

Hi, I was using Tweetdeck for the past few months without any problems. Recently, the application still works fine.. it opens as normal, all posts I am following appear etc., but when I try to send a tweet the application closes and I get the error
"tweetdeck.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I uninstalled tweetdeck and reinstalled it many times. Sometimes it would work for twenty minutes, other times not at all. I got fed up trying, so uninstalled it and downloaded Seesmic. This new application opened perfectly, all users I am following and their tweets updated perfectly, until again I went to post a tweet and it closes and I get the error
"seesmic desktop.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
As these are the only two applications I have used that give me this error, and are also the only two applications I have used that are related to Adobe AIR, I can only assume the problem is connected somehow?
I was wondering if any of you might have any suggestions on how I could fix this? I am not the most tech saavy guy, so any help would be greatly appreciated as I am starting to lose patience with it!
Thanks in advance. You might try uninstalling the AIR runtime and re-installing it. You might also try contacting the developers of these applications to find out whether the problem is related to issues they already know about.

Xcelsius.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close
Hello all,
I've been having a continual problem with an Xcelsius document I've been developing and I'm hoping someone might be able to assist. When in design mode, all of the dynamic controls & calculations are working fine.
I have 5 tabs :
1 which stores my main data (about 4000 rows)
1 which stores fields bound to drop-down selections, and also some dsum calculations for 3 charts (about 10 rows)
1 which stores static values to populate the drop-down combos with (about 50 rows)
1 which stores some test data (about 80 rows)
1 which stores data which I've managed to replicate the functionality of a pivot table (using sumif), so the user is dynamically changing this data accoring to combo selections (about 50 rows & 30 columns) - about 9 pie charts reference this data
Basically whenever I try to then preview as a swf, Xcelsius tries to generate for about 5 minutes and then comes up with the subject message "Xcelsius.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".
Any ideas of how to solve? I've tried uninstalling & re-installing, and the service pack 1 made no difference. I don't think what I've developed is that complex to render in swf.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
MarcoOf a similar nature; since installying SP1, I can open Xcelsius, do nothing, close it and get the same message Marco is getting.

I am using desktop computer with windows XP. Sometimes, I am facing with the problem "plugin-container.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". After showing this event, the browser disappears automatically.
See if there are any Crash Reports ID's saved.
Type '''about:crashes''' in the Location Bar and hit Enter.
Then open each Crash Report and once the report is loaded completely, copy and paste the URL of each report into the the '''''Post as Reply''''' box in this thread.
IMO, seeing that you are using WinXP, you might be better off with the older Flash 10.3.183.90 version. Flash 11.0 and later have "improvements" that don't work on WinXP - only Vista and later. Adobe did continue to support and provide security updates for Flash 10.3 until a few months before WinXP went EOL back in April of this year. -
Javaw.exe has encountered a problem a needs to close
Hello,
I'm working with an videoconference application (SIP Communicator) in a Java Web Start application. I've got to access to download the jnlpo file and the application run apparentely without any problem, but when I try to call a user I get a java error message "javaw.exe has encountered a problem a needs to close", and when I check this error I found the following issue:
AppName: javaw.exe AppVer: 6.0.140.8 ModName: jvm.dll
ModVer: 14.0.0.16 Offset: 000fee15
I think the problem come from capture device detection, but I'm not sure because the java error dont say anything about this. I guess that is a capture device detection problem because when I check the Java Console I see:

Hi,
Thanks for answering.
Could you tell me how can I allow "capture from applets" modifying Java Policy Permission?
I think that the problem's source comes from JMF, because it doesn't run the JMFRegistry. But I dont know the reaso
I'd appreciate your help

APS Daemon.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close the computer
On my Lenovo laptop at home, I am getting a message: " APS Daemon.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close the computer".
This message appears after my computer (lap-top at home) gets automatically shut down and is restarted by me.
I believe that, this file pertains to an "Apple application Support Application" and impacts the PC only when I am transferring CDs to iTunes (for my iPad 2)
Any help in resoloving this problem is highly appreciated.

Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close
approximately every 1 and 1/2 to two months I have to uninstall Crystal Reports XI and re-load release 2. The program works fine then starts acting funny (cursor will not change when making text box longer/shorter, Can only make sections larger/shorter by putting the cursor over to the far left side of the report, etc) When this starts happening, within one day I receive the error
"crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"
I was able to see a thread in the Business Objects forum indicating there was a service pack to fix the problem. Each time I search for service packs to install nothing comes up. Does anyone know what this service pack is and where I might be able to find it.
Thanks Much
DonnaHi Jon
Have you checked with DEP option?
Right Click on My Computer ->Click on Properties->Click on Advance Tab-> Click on on Settings in Performance Pane-?Click on Data Execution Prevention Tab ->Click on Turn On DEP option ->Click on Add button and browse for crw32.exe file.
What is difference between mentioned two machine(Configuration)?
Are you using dual monitor with Crystal Report?
Have you checked with event viewer? It gives the detail description of error.
Below are the steps for event viewer:
Click on Start ->Run -type in eventvwr.
Hope it will help you.

Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close during table link
I am in the process of evaluating the Crystal Reports 2008 product to create reports on data stored on our IBM AS400 system. When I select two or more tables on the Database Expert window; then click on the Links tab I receive the error message. If you only select one table the product does not crash. u201CCrw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.u201D

HPLaserJetService.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
I continue to recieve an error message that states the following: HPLaserJetService.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Right before the message appears my pc slows down and sometimes programs that i am in shut down.
I have not issues with my HP Laser printer.Do you mean CP1525nw? If so here is a link to the driver downloads for that printer. I would recommend going through your computer thoroughly and deleting any instance of the printer or it's software and then re-adding it from the link below :

Let me know how that goes and I will get right back with you!

PS I hope that the weather where you are is as wonderful there as it is here! Have a great day! -
Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close while running report
Ever since I installed HEAT 9, Crystal Reports 11 crashes periodically. I get the message "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." This message usually appears after I run a report, enter my DB credentials, and enter parameters.
I also have Report Viewer installed as a part of another application called Wasp. I can open reports using the report viewer but when I close them the entire Wasp program crashes every time.
Both of these problems only happen with HEAT 9 installed. I do not have this problem with HEAT 8.4 installed.I suggest you contact the makers of HEAT and ask them if they support your configuration. It may be they do not support multiple versions of CR installed. It may also be caused by the order you have installed the various programs. Try using the repair feature for each program in various orders to see if that resolves the problem.
Thank you
Don
