How to find your itunes library on a new pc if your old pc is not working

My old pc died several months ago. we saved the internal hard drive but have had little luck downloading everything.
I'm trying to access my itunes library and assumed it would be available online using my account details.
My account still exists and recognises my ipod, but no sign of my old library.
What can i do?

Your library will only be where you put it.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Have you failed to do this?
In some countries you can redownload some itunes purchases:

  • HT1660 how can i find my itunes library on a new computer after my old computer crashed with my itunes library on it?

    I have a windows 7.

It is on your old computer.  Restore your whole hard drive with all your irreplaceable things like photos in about 20 minutes from the backup clone you make on a regular basis.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085 ); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "You always back up your iTunes library in the event that a purchased item is no longer available on the iTunes Store," (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).
    Additional tip at https://discussions.apple.com/message/24176756
Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes if you have the sidebar displayed, or with the button at the top right.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
If the above doesn't work, it is reported iTunes Support occasionally permitting a second download when asked nicely, but they are in no way obligated to do this. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'iTunes' in the first column; 'iTunes Store' in the second column; third column click 'Purchases, Billing & Redemption' and proceed from there.
    iTunes 11:
Menu  > View > Show Sidebar
    Left side, "purchased" under "Store"

  • How do I get my iTunes library onto my new computer when my old computer died?

How can I upload my iTunes library onto my new computer from my iPod or iPad? our old computer died and now I cannot move my iTundes library from my iPod or iPhone onto the new iTunes. Anyone have a workaround for this?

It depends on what you mean by "died".
If the old computer is a Mac, you can try starting it up in "Target Disk Mode" - it doesn't attempt to start up like a computer, it pretends to be an external hard drive so it might work even if your old computer still has power (even if it's otherwise unusable). You then use a firewire cable (or or firewire to thunderbolt adapter) to plug the old computer into the new one, and can copy the music off the old hard drive.
OS X Mountain Lion: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode
Or, if you're handy with a screwdriver, open up the old computer and take the old hard drive out. How easy that is depends on what model computer it is. You can then pop the hard drive into an "external enclosure" (about $20 from any computer parts store), plug that into your new computer's USB port and copy away - and you even get to keep using the old hard drive as an external hard drive. But that's assuming it really is the computer that "died" and not the hard drive itself.
Finally, if it's the hard drive in the old computer that died, but the computer itself is still good, you can try using a utility like DiskWarrior or TechTools Pro to try to recover the old hard drive, then use one of the above methods.

  • How to transfer my itunes library to a new computer

How to transfer my existing itunes library to a new laptop?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • How can I transfer iTunes library to a new Apple ID?

I have a substantial quantity of music in iTunes on a old lap top. All the music has been put on to my iPod. None of it was purchased from iTunes but was uploaded from CD's. I have since moved from the UK to France with a new lap top and now have a new e-mail address. The old email address which is now defunct, was assigned to the iTunes account on the old laptop. I downloaded iTunes on to my new laptop and assigned a Frecnh email to it. I want to get rid of the old lap top, but need to transfer the library to the new Apple ID. I have tried to change my Apple ID on the old laptop to match the one I am currently using but do not appear to be able to do so as Apple will not permit me to used the email address assigned to the new account. Is there any way to transfer the library over?

Thanks both - I have accessed my itunes account using my apple ID - but I don't see how I can restore all my previous purchases and am still nervous about plugging in my phone should it not recognise the account - though it did tell me this was the third computer I'd asked for access - which is correct.  Are you saying I can now plug in my phone and sync without loosing everything on my iphone? and what about the apps?
I said not to plug in the phone until you have restored the iTunes Library:
Open iTunes: Store Menu (in Sidebar) Purchased:
Select music 'Not on this Computer' and download, repeat for Apps etc.

  • How do I uninstall iTunes so I can reinstall.  Going through control pannel does not work

i Tunes will not update.  It says the file Bonjour.msi is missing.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How do i transfer my library to a new computer when the old one is broken

ok my old computer died and the information may not be recoverable is there a way to get my library on my new computer? no i did not have the cloud my computer was that old.

Unless you have a backup somewhere, then no.
You need the entire iTunes folder located in the My Music directory on your old PC.
You will still be able to redownload your iTunes purchases but any non-iTunes purchased media will be lost as well as playlists, play counts, etc...

  • How Do I Pin A Tile To My New Tab Page, Instructions On Here Do Not Work.

These new FF updates are going to drive me to drink. It's a simple question, one would think, yet I cannot find the answer. FF29 has "tiles", I suppose they are called, when you click on "new tab page". At one point, I had them all on there...how, I don't remember.
Now, my "tiles" are disappearing. I have changed NOTHING. How do I re-add the websites I want to those tiles?
Before someone gives me the generic answer with the link, I will tell you that I already went to this link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites
Those instructions do not work. I do not have any little pin in those squares. When I go to a website that I usually go to, the only option I get is "Pin Tab" but that only adds a tab at the top of the browser window, it does NOT add it to the tiles, like I want.
I've tried the "Show All Bookmarks" route, and tried to drag the bookmark to a tile, it does NOT work.
There are 9 tiles. If I want to change them around, or re-add the 4 that have mysteriously disappeared today, HOW do I do that? Again, those blank tiles do NOT show a "pin" anywhere. They were set up, then they started to disappear. Again, I've changed NOTHING. It should not be this difficult to add a website to my tiles on my new tab page.

What troubleshooting information would you like. I posed a question, you tell me what you would like to see.
I know how to open my about:config, this isn't my first time on the internet.
You said: "You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page to see if it still has the default about:newtab value."
Yes, it does. What else would you like to know so that this can be fixed?
I also stated in my very first post that the link you just linked to, (that I also linked to so everyone was aware of what link I'm talking about), I already tried and it doesn't work. Do you guys even read what we put up or do you just hand out random, generic answers?

  • How can I restore my itunes library onto my new PC. My old PC was hit by a virus and I was unable to export it ??

Quite a while ago my 'old' PC was hit by a virus and I was unable to extract any data from it. When I got a new PC I could not find a way to recover my library from itunes so reluctantly I signed up for a new account. Is there some way that I can contact itunes to see about having my old library restored on my new PC ??  I even had money in the account that was unused !!

If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Why would you start a new account?  Why no use the same account on the new computer?
