How to fit long video onto disk

I understand to use the 150 min setting to get a long video compressed and onto disk in DVD Studio Pro. However, what settings do I use in Compressor to fit a video of say 170 minutes in length onto a DVD?

Get a DVD-R recorder and play directly to disk using the 6 hour setting. This uses a hardware encoder to do the compression and will potentially look better than what Compressor can get you.
The real question is why not do this with multiple disks. NO ONE can sit through 6 hours of video without stopping.

  • How do i get videos onto the new ipod?

haven't been able to figure out how to get videos onto the ipod. tried to click and drag a home video into the video section but that didn't work. any help would be greatly appreciated.
also, where do i go to get an episode to download onto the ipod?

    Hi Sebastian,
Use iTunes to put videos onto your iPod. Make sure you have the newest version (by pressing Help, then selecting check for iTunes updates).
Once you are sure you have the newest version of iTunes, just press File -> add file to library, or drag your video file onto the iTunes library. Then all you need to do is update your iPod.

  • How do I upload videos onto iTunes?

I'm using a PC and I don't know how to get videos onto iTunes (and then onto my iPod)
First of all, what are the types of video files that are compatible? I've tried .avi, .flv, and .mpg, but only .mpg worked so far (BUT! it wouldn't upload onto my iPod??)
Can someone please help me with this?? iTunes made me delete all my music on my iPod in order to sync videos, but what's the point if I can't put any videos on there anyway?

The file must meet the following specifications to play correctly.
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
    -or-
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats.

  • How can I store videos onto my 3rd generation Apple TV?

I used to store the videos that were on my iTunes (mostly my son's videos) to my 1st generation Apple TV, so I wouldn't need to keep the MacBook open for streaming.
Now that I've bought the 3rd generation Apple Tv, I discovered that I didn't like the fact that I couldn't store my videos onto the device itself and that I had to keep my MacBook open for streaming whenever my son asked to see his favorite videos.
Is there a way to attach a hard drive to the Apple TV? Something I can keep attached so all the data I need stays there?

If the majority of your stuff is from iTunes Store then you may be able to rewatch using Purchased sections of Movies and TV Shows across the internet without having a computer/iTunes running - in some ways I suspect this was Apple's goal in removing storage.
Annoyingly, you must subscribe to itunes Match to access your music purchases which I think is wrong - fine for matched or uploaded content but wrong if you've purchased music and don't need itunes match.

  • Fitting multiple videos onto one disk

I have have 15 videos from a conference (each aprox 1hr in length) and I was wondering if somebody knew of a compression format that would compress the videos using compressor into a format that DVD SP would recognize, with the whole video/audio files being around about 200-300 MB each so that they could all fit on one DVD. quality is not the concern here, I only need DVD SP to recognize the format. I have tried H.264 because I seem to have maximum control over bit-rate with the H.264 codec, however DVD SP does not recognize the H.264 files (at least not with the compression settings I set in compressor). iDvd recognizes the same H.264 files, but I want to use DVD SP not iDvd. The DVD presets in Compressor just don't seem to get the files small enough, so I was wondering if anybody had some suggestions...
    Many thanks
    Nick

    15 hours???
You will need to use MPEG1, or half D1 MPEG2 at the very minimum (or your max bitrate would have to be no more than 1Mbps), you'll need a dual layer disc and then compress your audio to AC3 at 192kbps. Then, and only then, could you get close to 15 hours on a single disc.
Unless you use a double sided dual layer disc (a DVD18) if you can find one to burn to. In this case, you can raise the bitrate to a whopping 2mbps.
If you use MPEG1 then your video bitrate will naturally be in the order of 1Mbps, and you will know from watching MPEG1 footage that the quality is low. Using Half D1 means you can use MPEG2, and your bitrate can be low (as you are losing half the horizontal resolution) and still maintain some quality. In my opinion, Half D1 gives a better result than MPEG1, but it is subjective.
I believe that you can raise the encoding rate on half d1 to about 2mbps on a DVD-9 to get 900 minutes on the disc, but you'll need to do some bit budgeting to be sure.
It's a big ask, whichever route you follow, and as Shawn said, almost certainly going to look very low quality.

  • How do I get videos onto my Zen Vision:

I apologize if this information is somewhere, but I looked all over and can't find it.
I have a Zen Vision: M 60GB, and I really know nothing about it. I'm traveling in a few weeks and I would really like to have some movies and TV shows on my player.
I'm assuming I have to download some type of program. Are there any good free programs I can use? Can you just upload DVD's that you already own, just like ripping CD's, or do you have to purchase them from somewhere online?
    Thank you!

Hey there, ignore what jstarbuck? had to say. I've transferred tons of movies clips, tv shows and such to my M player with no problems so far. The process is painless and rather quick, the only catch is don't use Creative's software, because it does take too long. I can convert a GB tv show recorded from my DVD recorder in about an hour to 320x240 and looks great on the player. I do this to have more clips and movies on the player...about 90 right now. If you search around will learn what to do, learn to be resourceful then you can do more like rip your own DVD's if you "own" them.

  • How do I drag video onto the program sequence and timeline

when I drag video to the sequence or timeline windows there is a line through the indicator circle, probibited.  What can I do to fix this?

You probably have to make a sequence first.
    Do this:
If you still cannot drag the video to the timeline make sure the tracks are targeted/patched.

  • How can I get video onto my T3? (yes, I checked the sticky) :)

I have a 1gb SD card in my T3.  Whenever I try to add ANY video format to the Quick Install, it says that the file format is valid.  Whether I add it to the Palm or the Expansion Card doesn't matter.  I already have TCPMP (with most of the plugins) installed on my T3 and I have a DCIM folder on the card (where my .jpg's are stored).  But that doesn't seem to matter.
I also don't have a card reader at this point.  What can I do WITHOUT a card reader to watch the videos on my T3 (avi, mpg, mpeg, mov, mp4, etc)?
    Thanks
    Post relates to: Tungsten T3

I suggest you try downloading and installing a Palm app called Card Reader.  It lets your desktop computer read your handheld as if it was an external USB drive, and might let you move the video files directly to the card and avoid Hotsync.

  • How to fit video to DVD-5?

Hi: I have been reading the faqs and forums, and pulling info from a variety of sources, but I am still confussed about how to fit my video to a DVd-5 using Encore. I have previsouly made DVds using Encore 1 & 2.0, so I know the process. But those were smaller projects under 1 hour running time. My current project is approaching 100 minutes for the main feature with small extras, and some basic menus.
I have read that I should be able to fit 110-130 minutes max on a DVD-5. I have also read to realistically expect something closer to 60-75 minutes. Which is it?
My footage is sport oriented so their is movement and & action, lots of transitions, & some composting.
Can someone tell me how do I fit 100 minutes to DVD-5, if that is possible?
I am editing my feature in PPro 1.5. I export 5-10 minute segments as DV AVI files, and then color adjust etc in AE 7.0., which I have been saving as Microsoft DV. I was planning on final assembly of all segments in AE 7.0, & export the whole feature from AE 7.0 as Microsfot DV. But I think this makes my feature file too big and it won;t fit to DVD-5. Is there another codec I should be using for final output to Encore?
What if I assembled in PPro 1.5 and exported to AE for final color. Is there a different codec I should be using to help it fit later on?
Also, I usually leave Encore set to automatic transcode and let it figure whats best. Should I be picking soemthing different?
Thanks and sorry if this has been cover before

  • How to upload a video on adobe muse cc, if it's not from youtube

    Hi!
I have a question about how to upload a video onto my Adobe Muse CC site? The thing is I want to upload it from my computor, not from youtube. I believe it's possible to realize, but I need help to find out how..  Anyone had this kind of question before and knows the answer?...
    Thank you in advance.

I don't believe you can do this from within muse out of the box. However you can use a widget (not free i'm afraid) from here to do it:
