Hi Oldyoungguy,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per your query we understood that you are facing issue with ‘D’ key is not working on ThinkPad.
This kind of issue will occurs if there is any issue with the hardware, however you can try uninstalling the keyboard adapter from device manger and restart the system.
Check if the issue occurs in safe mode also.
Check with external keyboard to confirm.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

The cap for the letter "R" on my keyboad has come loose.  It won't stay in place.  How can I fix it?  (My MACBook Air is still under warranty.)

I would bring it into an Apple Store and let them replace the keycap for you.   Usually they dont just come lose.

  • How to fix a supersensitive key?

My wife dropped her G4 iBook recently. Luckily, there was only one minor lasting problem: The "d" key is now supersensitive. If you just brush it with your fingertip, you get "dddddddd". EXTREMELY annoying. Anyone have a suggestion how I can correct this problem?

  • How to fix the enter key not opening sites in the URL box?

Ever since the update to 10.0.1 pressing enter to open a site in the URL entry box doesn't work. Anyone know why? I have to click the arrow key to the side of the URL pannel, and enter key works as normally everywhere.
    It is INCREDIBLY annoying.

Try disable "AVG Safe Search", that should work.

  • How to fix my iPhone keys that will not work

When I am using my iphone keyboard, the upper row Q thru P will not work. That is in verticle mode, when laid horizontally, the R will not work.
On the number keys, the 4 will not work. The comma key also does not work.
I was told that a software restore could cure this.  Also, I tried to load the new version 7 software, hoping this might help.  But the Accept option would not work when accepting the TERMS from Apple.  It seems that only works in verticle so that whole row/area does not work.

    RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

  • How to fix a dead "down" key

I have a iMac early 2008 version. After working hard for 5 years, the "down" arrow key is dead. This is what I have done so far.
    1) Remove the key cap and the associated plastic assembly
    2) See a "white bouncy dome" under the key.
    2) Open the "Keyboard viewer".
    3) Click the "down key" on the "Keyboard viewer" ==> it works fine.
    4) However, when I press that "white bouncy dome", no reponding.
    5) use the compressed air to clean the areas. still no responding from this key.
What should I do next to fix this dead key? Search many forums or youtube videos, but all I got is how to "remove" and "install" key caps. I could not find a proper one to solve my problem. Thanks a lot!

You have gotten close to 6 years of service from the keyboard, have you considered just replacing it? You can find them from Apple or OWC even sells them in various states of condition.

My iphone dosen't doesn't make key tone sounds anymore when I write a text message or when I want to dial a phone number I don't know how to fix this problem, I don't hear the clicking noise anymore does anyone know how to fix this problem? And all the sounds on my phone are on, even the keyboard clicks.

Try restarting your iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, double check the volume button just in case.  If you still can't hear the tones go into your settings>sounds and make sure the options are on.

Three keys of my keyboard are not working, the cap one, the return key and the space bar, while the virtual keyboard shows to others keys highlighted in orange (^ and `); How to fix it? I writing now with a bluetooth keyboard.

All new keyboards need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and above for full functionality.
Rather short-sighted of Apple perhaps, but that seems to be a trend these days.
I'm afraid the only fix is to upgrade to SL. Personaly, I'd take it back and get a refund and seek an older keyboard or a third-party one elsewhere.

You may have this sorted out by now - but if not try resetting your Language to English.  I had the issue and found the emoji keyboard was set to spanish.

My wire2ess key board is generating a 2 as you can see in the word wire2ess.  Any idea how to fix?

Make sure that there is no entry in system prefs/language & text/text/symbol and text substitution which causes this.
    Try another keyboard.

  • How to fix keys on the keyboard? Help Needed.

    Hi there
I have a small problem with my powerbook. Something (grit, small stone) has managed to make its way under my keyboard keys. At first it was under my tab key and i was unable to use it. Since then it seems to have moved to underneath my 'z' key (my tab key now works).
I can still use it (obviously) but i have to press a little harder than i would like to make it work. The key also feels like the front part depresses as opposed to the whole key, if you know what i mean.
Anyway, does anyone know how to safely remove this key so i can fix this? I can't be without Apple+z!!
    Thanks in advance
    Alan

    Hi BGreg
Thank you for replying. I hadn't considered compressed air. I would be a little worried about just blowing whatever is under there around, there doesn't seem to be much room down the side of the keys for anything other than dust to come out. I'll give it a try anyway.
Thanks for the link. I did find that before but it only tells you how to replace the key if it comes off. I'd be looking to safely removing it then replacing it. Does anyone know if there is a 'technique' or tool to do this that won't cause damage? I was also a bit worried about damaging anything to do with the backlit keyboard.
    Hope someone can help
    Alan

  • My baby accidentally hit my key pad and now my computer screen looks like a negative.  Does anyone know how to fix it?

My baby accidentally hit my key pad and now my computer screen looks like a negative.  What was white is now black, etc.  Does anyone know how to fix it?

Press control-option-command-8, or visit System Preferences -> Universal Access -> Seeing and change the display back to "black on white."

  • Messages on my MacBook Air won't send messages over iMessage. Anyone know how to fix this?

In preferences, under accounts, it claims that my Apple iD is hooked up to messages, including my phone number and email address...yet it isn't sending messages they always fail. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? It would be a great help.

Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Messages if it’s running.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (either may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Messages
    Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in. Try Messages again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Messages again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
    Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
Test. If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
    Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with "com.apple.iChat". Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

  • Whenever I try to use my macbook, it will work for about 10 min. then the screen will go black, the computer will not respond to my commands, and I have to restart it. Can anyone tell me what's going on, and how to fix it? Thank you!!!

Hello everyone, like most people on this site, I am having difficulties understanding and fixing my Macbook Pro. About a month ago my computer screen went black, the computer was unresponsive, and it started making a beeping noise. I restarted the computer, and it seemed to have fixed itself. 6 days ago, I put my laptop into it's case with some papers, went home (about 30 min. after putting laptop into case), and opened my bag. My computer's fans were on, the computer was really hot, and when I opened the computer, the screen was black and unresponsive. I turned it off, let it cool down, turned it back on, started to stream a video on Hulu, and about ten minutes after, the screen went black again and the computer was unresponsive. Now everytime I turn it on after about ten to fifteen minutes the screen will go black, the computer will become unresponsive, and I have to shut it off. The weird thing though is that everytime I restart my computer, when I reopen my account, my computer acts as if nothing has happened, and everything I had opened or unsaved is still there without autosave saving the documents. The screen also goes black and the computer becomes unresposive when I move the computer around. I get a lot of pop-up ads and other crap on my computer when I am on the internet. I don't know if one of those pop-up websites might have given me a virus or may be the cause of this problem. I don't now what is wrong with my computer or how to fix it, but if anyone has any advice, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!!!!!! Thank you very much!!!
-- Sincerely, A very confused, scared, and hopless Macbok Owner

To get rid of "pop-up ads and other crap on my computer when I am on the internet", click on Safari in the Menu bar, and select Preferences. Next select Extensions. Delete all of them. Restart Safari.
The first step in addressing the black screen is an SMC reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
