Hey there. Is your macs screen frozen? Do you fear that it will freeze? Then this is for you!
This happens when you use the trackpad/keyboard for any amount and the screen freezes.
Simply shut down and reset the PRAM! (by pressing simultaneously the keys P+R+alt+Command before the grey screen). Once that pesky grey screen goes away, take your hands off the keys and enjoy a happy computer.

User troubleshooting as outlined in the manual starts with a simple power off, then back on. Have you tried this yet? If this doesn't work, try a reset as outlined below:
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

If nothing ever shows on the screen when you start it, or anything you may need to reset the phone, or restore the software. Try this first:
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that does not get the screen going, then backup your device, and restore it.

I would try to reset it before anything else. To do this press and hold the home and power buttons until the the white screen shows the apple logo (~ 15 secs.).
If this does not work then more than likely the LCD is damaged.
btw- The white screen is common after repairs. The reset fix works 90% of the time.

sorry, to say, but that reaches the limits of lil' iMovie.
You can not manually adjust the color-key in iMovie, as you can do in FCPX, nor does it offer any 'masking' features as Motion would...
.. FCPX offers a 30d free and fully functional (no watermarks etc) trial ... but then you have to learn how to handle color-key in that pro app ... which is not a beginners task ...

My 2010 MBP has a lock up issue, at random times the screen goes to black, if there was sound playing it gets stuck in a loop and the keyboard lights stay on. Nothing works, and the only way out is to do a hard boot by pressing the power button. This is random, at anytime doing anything, I could just have one safari window open or one firefox window open. The only way that I can recreate the problem is by using iDVD, it will crash as soon as I have a movie ready and press the burn button. Anyone have any ideas? Welcome to the crowd. This problem is so wide spread, I am surprised that Apple can not fix this problem,
or if they are please inform you tech support at your Apple stores. They seem to be clueless.
I have worked with Apple computers since 1985 and have never seen anything this bad.
So I do not have any ideas of how you can fix this. I am like you, I can't afford to take my computer in and leave it for several days. So as you say, we live with it the best we can. I have come to a point that I am saving
my files every few minutes. Really effects the creative part of what we do as a New Media development company. I hope someone out there has cracked this problem. I am going to call my Apple Care support today,
and put the challenge out to them. The key is to document this problem if you do have a warranty that is still in force and Apple Care. Its hard to imagine that I have an old Macbook Pro that is more dependle than this 1 year old Macbook Pro. I hope more people get on this issue and voice their concerns and solutions.

Please let me ask concerning subject because I couldn't find similar topic from past questions.
Now I'm in troubled by following situation.
At current project, several portal roles are allocating end-user.
Then if one end-user has only manager role, the screen fron launched from UWL is the ivew of navigation of mangager role.
But if one-end user has another role in addition to manager role,
the screen fron launched from UWL is the iview of navigation of another role, not manager role.
So, I would like to fix like when launching screen from UWL, that screen is the iveiw of manager role.
Is there any setting to avoid to catch the iview of another role's navigation??
This phenomenon happens only manager role.(launching screen from UWL)
Conerning another roles, even if end-user has several roles, launched screen is displayed as the view of navigation of each role.

When you said, "The mirror did not crack at all" I assumed you meant you did NOT fracture the screen.
The glass of the screen is shattered, and the display assembly will have to be replaced. It is not a defect in materials or workmanship, so it will not be covered under AppleCare warranty.
The only way to know what Apple will charge is to make an Appointment at the Genius Bar and ask them. Screen replacement is a flat rate charge. Your appointment for an evaluation is FREE, and you are not obligated to have Apple do the work.
If you do not like what they will charge, there are third party companies that specialize is screen replacements, sometimes for less money.

Sounds like a hardware issue to me but the standard troubleshooting is...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

Since your under warranty, I would have Apple replace the EFI firmware and check the machine out for hardware issues as well.
Buy AppleCare and a external drive for TimeMachine backups.

I bought a Powerbook Ti from some guy on the web for dirt cheap. He said that the catch was that the screen din't work but that it could run off an external screen I thought great I need something that I can just run minor applications like itunes, web and so on. I have grown to love this computer and wish the screen would work. Apparently this guy dropped it and used a little crazy glue to keep the top case of the screen intact and it worked for about a year then it stopped working and it would just turn on with a grey screen and thats all.
Anyway what I am wondering is this could just be a loose wire or a bad wire, but I would like to know where can I find information on taking a Powerbook Ti with DVI apart in order to better understand it? I have tried those Apple service manuals page but the ones for this comp are gone just wondering where i can find them again? or a book that might help me or a site with these types of resources.

Many people consider it to be one of the more difficult jobs; some have posted that they can get it done in 90 minutes or so, but personally, I would count on a lot more time than that. When I have very complicated things to do (car, computer, stereo, whatever), I sometimes video tape the disassembly, then I have something to fall back on if I've got extra "nuts and bolts" left over at the end. One caution: repair manuals make several references to how delicate the display cables are which go through both hinges.
