How to fix an iPod touch that does not charge but gets hot in the lower back area?

I have a 3rd generation iPod touch 32gb and it will not turn off, nor will it charge. Plugging in to my computer, iTunes does not even detected. Even if I leave it to charge, it does not detect it. The odd thing is that it get really hot in the lower back area of the iPod. It is hot to the touch, as though it were 80 degrees+. Anyway for me to fix this?
The iPod is way out of warrenty, so I wonder if a Genius bar appointment will even help me. But I will give them a try.

Replace the battery.  If that does not work, then system board is toasted...

  • Content on my Ipod Touch that does not show up in my iTunes library.....???

I have a group of about 6 podcasts on my ipod touch that I am trying to delete b/c I've already listened to them and want to free up space. Problem is when I plug into iTunes my library does not list these podcasts as being on my ipod. I know they are on there because I can listen to them but for some reason they do not show up. All of my other podcasts show up, just not these. I'm running iTunes 9.0.3.15 if that makes a difference.
Seems like i've run into this problem before as well with an audiobook. Don't remember how I got rid of that.

No problem. Glad to have helped.
Not sure as to why it happened. I just know this has been happening to a few users lately. It may be with how you have your iPod touch configured to sync Podcasts. So you may want to double check these settings as well as mess around with them a bit to figure out if that is the cause. Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure on this one. Sorry I cannot be of much help here.

  • How to fix a ipod touch that is disabled

My Ipod touch says that its disabled and I don't know how to fix it.  Does anyone know how to fix it?

If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPod into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:

  • Please Help! How to fix my ipod touch that got covered in garlic butter?

So I had it on the counter in the kitchen and of course it got covered in garlic butter and now the screen looks glittery and is very dim. I have had it in some rice for some time now and it seems to be helping with the garlic butter but not with the dimness as much. I would appreciate any help you give me because I do not feel like buying a new ipod touch. Thanks!

Purchase a bottle or a few packs of iKlear Apple Polish, and clean the surface of your Touch with a microfiber cloth. The good news is that the assembly of the Touch is quite tight. If you fear there may be a problem with greasy liquids seeping inside, I'd strongly suggest having a specialist clean it securely. http://www.ipodjuice.com/apple-ipod-touch-repair.htm#ipod-touch-repair
Prophyactially, I might suggest investing in a Zagg skin. They've had a sale recently, and offers full-body protection against grease, or even nicking and scratching. And butter.

  • Ipod touch that will not charge or sync

My daughter's ipod touch, just over one year old, will not charge or sync with any computer.  We have tried several cables and computers with no luck.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    - See:

    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

How to reset my iPod touch thats disabled it doesn't work even charging

If the sleep/wake button doesn't work use the home button and if the home button doesn't work it's the other way around, however if both of them don't work charge it with your connector connected with your computer or wall socket and it will turn on. Hope this helps.

  • Are there any iPod Speakers that do NOT charge your iPod when connected?

    Hi there,
I'm looking for an affordable iPod speaker that does not charge or gives you the option of not having your iPod charge.
I know people who keep attaching their iPod to the dock speakers that they have, and it constantly keeps charging and that literally killed the battery on their iPod's.
I know there is the Logitech MM32 (connects through headset jack), but not sure if that is compatible with the new Nano 3rd Generation.
Does anyone know of any other speakers that does not charge your iPod while connected (when connected to the wall outlet -> AC) or gives you the iPod not to charge the iPod?
    Thanks in advance!

Constantly charging does NOT kill the iPod battery, it is a myth.
Once the battery is charged the main charging stops and it is switched to 'trickle' charge which means it get a slight charge every so often.
There is not problem at all in keeping the iPod topped up, just make sure you discharge it fully approx once a month as per Apple's instructions here :-
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html
And general battery advice here :-
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
The key is the number of full charge cycles you o through, if you only ever keep topping up the battery then you will not go through full charge cycles very quickly. If you only ever top up the last 5% of the battery then you can do this 20 times and it will only count as 1 charge cycle. Based on the 400 they say you can get from a battery before the capacity drops to 80% that would mean you could top up the battery that last 5% over 400*20=8,000 times.

how to fix my ipod touch, because everytime i use or i play games sometimes it will turn off/closed/lock....how to fixed that problem

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

How can I find my iPod touch that got lost ? But I don't have the Find my Phone app .
    Please , help me ..

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • I have an iPod touch that will not turn on.

Hello forums! I have an iPod touch that will not turn on. I have tried everything I can to turn it back on, but I just cant find the right thing. I dont know if it is in need of a new digitizer, or the battery is dead, but I would really appreciate some help. It is an iPod touch 3rd generation.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
