I know see that you have to delete the search word(s) in the box after pressing command and f and type in a new word followed by return. That then works for one word or a name. Unfortunately it does not work for multiple searches as i was hoping, hence why it was not working for me ( unless together as in a name ) but it is certainly much better than nothing so thank you very much for your help - it is much appreciated. I have also since been informed that google chrome multihighlighter does multiple search highlighting once you download it from chrome website so i have everything covered now thanks as i have done that and it works in a similar manner.
It is very odd that you cannot do multiple searches automatically as you can on pc in google. To be honest that was the only thing that was far more intuitive to me personally about using a pc but now i have these two functions which are actually better than the automatic pc function i am all sorted. Much obliged.

How to prevent Adobe from installing Google Chrome?

Hi all. It was either this Win 7 security forum of the 2008 R2 group policy forum so I figured more people run iinto this here than anybody. I'm a bit shocked to find I can't get an answer on this via Googling (then again, maybe Google disables
relevant search results, given the context of the situation)
As a standard build process for 2008 R2 domain-joined Win 7 computers, I manually install the latest Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash from www.adobe.com
Both products install with default settings to self-update in the future, which is done via a system service, which is what I want since I don't allow my users admin rights on their systems. And when I install these two items I always uncheck the optional
Google installs. However inevitably a month or two later I log onto a computer only to find Chrome installed.
Pardon the comment here TechNet moderators but needless to say, Google & Adobe [removed expletive]. If I uncheck the option to install Google Chrome and Toolbar when I first install the products, it means I don't want the damn things on there
later either. And neither does any other IT admin out there I am certain.
I looked in both Reader and Flash configuration menus and don't see a way to prevent this installation of optional items. The only option is basically to disable self-updating completely (in Flash's case at least - I can't even find the option
in Adobe Reader DC).
So with my rant and what not out of the way, is there a GPO method to prevent this, and yet still allow these products to self-update? Or any other solution to this problem at all? Thanks for your time. And if you are someone from Google
or Adobe responding, please understand I don't have a gripe against individuals, just the damned company that shoves unwanted junkware down our throats. FU larry and shantanu :)

I caught wind of some sort of management platform they have for hosting your own internal Adobe distribution server or something. I imagine that's their answer to this issue. Otherwise we're all chasing after a pointless pursuit - Adobe &

If you have had this problem while booted ino recovery mode, it's not a Spotlight issue. If your hard drive is failing, that could cause the problems you describe. Do you have good backups? If not, your first order of business needs to be backing up all data that you don't want to lose. Once you have done that, you can start troubleshooting.
Regarding troubleshooting, you can check the SMART status of your hard drive in Disk Utility, but it's important to note that failing hard drives can easily have "verified" SMART status.
It would also be worth repairing the hard drive with Disk Utility. If the hard drive is actually failing, though, repairing won't do squat... the drive will have to be replaced.
Your problems involving Spotlight could also have been caused by a corrupt Spotlight index. Since you added the entire hard drive to the Privacy pane, removing it will cause Spotlight to completely rebuild the index, which would solve that problem... if that were the problem.
Also, you mention that your machine is "clean, virus-free, spyware-free," which suggests that you may have been using cleaning utilities and anti-virus software. Regarding the former, that's a bad idea - see The myth of the dirty Mac. As for anti-virus software, what software are you using? Some anti-virus software is good, while others can bring your Mac to its knees.

How do I recover my lost bookmarks? I've gone thru all the fixes posted at different support sites and nothing has worked. I started rebuilding my bookmarks and then lost those. This happens without a reboot or shutdown.

Using Time Machine restore:

You can find this file in:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
If you do not have a backup then they're gone.
The easiest method to do all this is:
Open a Finder Window - Go Menu - Click Go to Floder.. and copy and paste:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
tap the enter key
Open Time Machine, go back to a time you know the bookmarks were there and restore.

If you are connecting to Exchange 2003, when you use a browser other than IE, you'll get the lite version of OWA. The "rich" version is supported only on IE - OWA will have all features available. THe lite version is limited.
You can't do anything - if and when your Exchange server is upgraded to current versions, you'll have all features available in Firefox, Chrome, and IE.

Plug-In on Google Chrome

I downloaded adobe onto my galaxy s4 because I needed it to get on the website to check my paystubs but it's still saying I don't have it downloaded and I can't figure out how to install the plugin on Google chrome.

You didn't tell us what OS X you are using and your profile doesn't tell us.
You didn't tell us what version of Java you installed, but it sounds like perhaps it was Java 7 from Oracle which would mean you are running 10.7.3 or above.
If you didn't previously install Java 6 or migrate from a previous system that had it, you many be out of luck. Some have suggested installing Java for Mac OS X 10.7 Update 1, but I have not seen confirmation that it works. Java 6 is no longer publically supported by Oracle and I doubt that Apple will continue much longer.

Go into FF Preferences & set it to be your default browser. This way when you click on an email link in Chrome, FF will open.

I was having a frustrating issue with Google Chrome failing to fully load web pages and exhibiting overall poor speed and performance (even on a SSD boot drive) on Mac OS Lion 10.7.3 and figured out how to fix it.

Why not reinstall OSX? The link you gave is fetching the 10.7.5 combo update from the server, and replacing the Java core framework. I don't know why you wouldn't just reinstall 10.8.5 in the normal manner, whether via recovery mode or the combo update:
