How to fix Bluetooth BT Keyboard Mouse Audio stuttering, delays, interrupts

I just updated my MacBook Pro 13" to the latest i5 model and ran into an annoying problem: the wireless BT mouse (Logitech Laser Travel Mouse M-RCQ142) and keyboard (Apple Aluminium Wireless BT KB) had a terrible delay which rendered both virtually useless. Keystrokes repeatedly 'hang', the mouse pointer was 'jumping'.
I tried virtually everything including a fresh OS X user, unpairing and re-pairing all BT devices, turning off individual BT devices... Nothing helped. Deactivating and reactivating BT resolved the issue ... for perhaps 20 seconds.
The actual problem turned out to be an interference issue between BT and WiFi: I turned off my router and suddenly both the BT keyboard and mouse worked flawlessly. Turning the router back on brought the problems back. I deactivated AirPort from the OS X menu bar and again: no Bluetooth issues.
The solution was fairly simple: I changed the router’s WiFi channel settings (it has two antennas) from 8 (2,447 GHz) and 12 (2,467 GHz) to 1 (2,412 GHz) and 5 (2,432 GHz). Note how subtle the difference in frequency is, yet all problems were immediately gone.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • How do I fix bluetooth connection between mouse and keyboard with iMac. iPhone won't connect to bluetooth either

Bluetooth on Mac os x won't work with keyboard, mouse or iphone.  Keyboard and mouse both have new batteries and go discoverable when switched on, i have gone into system setup and tried connecting.  It connects briefly with mouse then drops in and out of connection, keyboard does same, asking for passcode then no connection.  I'm lost... my phone can pick up keyboard, so i think it is bluetooth in mac.

    Go to ~/LIbrary/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
    Try re "pairing" the keyboard.

  • Boot Mac Mini w/Bluetooth without Keyboard/Mouse attachted

    Hi,
I´m trying to boot a Mac Mini with Bluetooth without any Keyboard/Mouse attachted to it.
It doesn´t work. Every time the Mac stucks at looking for Bluetooth devices.
    Running 10.4.11
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot,
    seb

    already tried this one!
That would have been helpful to know from the beginning so we don't waste our time with things you've already tried. What else have you already tried to troubleshoot this situation?
Maybe you need to delete that preference file, as it's clearly not working correctly? This file is not in your own user's home folder, but in the root "Library" folder in this path:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Put that file in the Trash, restart, log back in, delete the trash, and uncheck the option again in the System Preferences. Does it stick now? Or have you tried that already too?

  • OSX 10.10.3 connection bluetooth lost keyboard/mouse

    Hi everyone!
After upgrading to OS X 10.10.3 my magic mouse and keyboard starts to lost the bluetooth connection.
Apparently, it looks like the connection is turn off when I'm not using the mouse or the keyboard. When moving the mouse or pressing any key the bluetooth reconnect automatically. But, the time to connect is high.
I already did a reset of the PRAM but the bluetooth keep disconnecting.
Is someone else with this same problem?
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

You may want to try another channel then.

  • Using Apple Bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse with a MacBook

What is required to use a MacBook with the Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse?
-- i.e., what 'setup' is required to get the MacBook to recognize those devices and respond to input from them?
    Thanks.

To be able to use the mouse and keyboard to full effect, such as key combos on boot and all the mouse buttons, its best to install the drivers from the cd that came with the mouse and keyboard.

  • How to fix wireless apple keyboard that ceased pairing with imac at the same time the keyboard on my ipad2 disappeared right after I updated osx vs. 10.8.5 sent out by Apple

I updated to OSX vs. 10.8.5 sent out by Apple on Oct 4,2013. My wireless
Apple keyboard is no longer paired to my imac and at the same time I noted that the keyboard on my ipad2 no longer exists. At first I thought it was an icloud issue but am wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem.

I downloaded 10.8.5 Supplementary and this time there was a picture of my keyboard with the suggestion that I power it on, which I did many times. Finally re-booted my imac and shut down BlueTooth on my ipad. I now have a keyboard back on the ipad and my wireless keyboard on the imac is working.

  • How to "fix" a hijacked keyboard shortcut?

So there's a shortcut in Xcode I'm accustomed to using on my desktop: command-option up (it switches between header and implementation files while in the editor view). Thing is, when I try to use it on my MBP nothing happens. Other shortcut keys that use the command-option modifiers work fine and the up key certainly works.
I switched over to another application (TextMate) that uses the same shortcut key and tried it out to no avail.
I checked out the keyboard preference pane, where the shortcut wasn't assigned to anything -- I even tried entering it as an application specific shortcut for Xcode, but it still didn't work when I went back to try it out in the application.
I also tried to get Keyboard Maestro to recognize and run a macro using the command-option up shortcut. While I could enter it as a trigger (interesting, as it shows the key combination can be detected by an application), using the shortcut wouldn't invoke the macro afterwards.
I also installed KeyCue (a pretty neat application, though I doubt I'll keep it around) to have it tell me what the command-option up shortcut was currently "hooked up" to. Result: nada. It's not listed in the shortcut list.
I've restarted and logged in after turning off startup applications and just run Xcode, and the shortcut key still doesn't work. After much hair-pulling, my conclusion is simply that something I cannot find has hijacked the key combination as a global shortcut of sorts, but how do I reset it?
(Note that I did log in as a different user and managed to get the shortcut key to work then, but I couldn't find any processes running as the other user that I was running as me.)
    Thanks for any advice!

If it works in a new admin user account, then there's corruption or a conflict i n the original, usually in /Preferences.  There are a couple of ways to resolve those. One is to copy the names of all plist files in /new user/Library/Preferences/, log back into the old account, remove the same one from that user's Preferences folder into a new folder on the Desktop, and log out and back in. Now try the shortcut. If it works, put a few of the moved ones back, log out and back in, and test again. Eventually, you'll find the one that's broken. Most likely one related to finder or system preferences.

  • Anyone know how to fix Bluetooth headset not working properly after iOS 8 update?

I have an iPhone 5S and I use a Plantronics PLT M20 model bluetooth headset. I am no longer able to answer calls by pressing the button on the headset, since updating to iOS 8. I also also cannot end calls by pressing the button on the headset. This only happened after iOS 8. The Apple Care rep stated that "this is most likely a problem with the bluetooth manufacturer and they need to update their firmware, so now it's just a waiting game until they do that". Is that correct? Anyone encountering this?
    Related information....
Hi - I'm a student with disabilities and rely heavily on accessibility features that make my life easier. For example, I use a Bluetooth headset to trying answer phone calls and use Siri… I especially use the "Raise to speak" option for accessing Siri. Since updating my iPhone five us and my iPad air, I've been scrambling to access the "raise to speak" option for Siri without success. When I called AppleCare, the representative stated I should have that option to enable in my settings. When I explained to her that the option is not showing, she wanted me to reset my phone to factory settings. When I told her I googled the issue and found that it may have been removed in iOS 8… She put me on hold, Came back and told me I was right.
What's worse is that that my Bluetooth headset is no longer working with my iPhone 5S. She stated that it may being I needed adjustment from the manufacturer of the headset– Plantronics. All I know is that the apple care representatives seem confused and I am extremely disappointed in this really impacts my use of Siri and my phone.
When I asked her to submit feedback to her supervisor or the powers that be… I was simply asked to submit feedback to the Apple.com website. While I understand Apple might read that feedback, I also recognize that they don't reply and I don't feel that is great support to someone like me who has a disability and needs a solution. The"Hey Siri" option is not working for me.
Does anyone have any workarounds for the "Raise to speak" problem or the Bluetooth problem? Specifically, the Bluetooth issue is when I try to hit the button on my Bluetooth headset to answer a call or end the call. It's a Plantronics PLT M20 model.

Follow-up to my earlier post that iPhone 6 Bluetooth not working correctly.  I purchased a Jawbone MiniJambox to use as a speaker phone in my office.  Everyone in our company thinks they are the best.  However, it is experiencing the same issues as with all my other Bluetooth headsets.  Everything works except cannot answer or hang up calls pushing the buttons on the Bluetooth devices.  The Bluetooth patio speakers in our courtyard also have the same issue.  However, my colleagues using iPhone 5 and 5s who did not update to iOS8 are using all Bluetooth devices without any issues.  Apple says it is a problem with my Bluetooth device.  Come on Apple.... This makes 7 different Bluetooth devices with different manufacturers.  You cannot possibly believe the problem is with the Bluetooth devices when iOS7 works perfectly fine...
On another issue, my iPhone 5s worked perfectly fine in my vehicle entertainment center connected via USB.  The vehicle entertainment center had complete control of my iPhone and iTunes.  However, now I plug in my new iPhone 6 and it no longer communicates with my vehicle entertainment center.  Again when I called Apple, they said my vehicle entertainment center needed a firmware update.  Are you kidding me...  That is a bunch of BS...!!!

The Macedonian keyboard supplied with OS X 10.3/10.4 has an error, where the character з (U+0437) has been replaced by э (U+044D), so that it cannot be used to type this language. A corrected version of the keyboard, Macedonianz.keylayout, is available here:

After downloading the file, install it in Home/Library/Keyboard Layouts, then logout/login, check its box in System Preferences/International/Input Menu, and select it in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder.

I have read that going to settings, general, reset, reset keyboard dictionary has helped. In the past, it was found that going to settings, iCloud, turn off documents and data helped too.

  • Trouble with bluetooth keyboard/mouse and wake from sleep option

    Hi,
I have a 12" PB G4 that has in-built BT. I got a Microsoft Elite bluetooth desktop (keyboard + mouse) and the keyboard and mouse are recognized by my Powerbook but the option to "Allow bluetooth devices to wake up this computer" option is dimmed so I can't check it.. I googled and came upon Apple's howto on this and downloaded/installed the latest firmware.... no luck.. I opened up the firmware updater in Applications\Utilities and hit the Update button but get an error saying no apple bluetooth module exists... given that the keyboard and mouse do show up in the list of bluetooth devices, does this mean that there is no firmware update for this make of keyboard/mouse?
Anything else I can try to get this option to work so I can use the BT keyboard/mouse to wake up the computer?
    Thanks,
    NG

Seems I am the only one using a Bluetooth mouse. I went a bought a mouse with an RF receiver and have packed the BT mouse away.

  • Wireless keyboard & mouse

Hi there. I just installed on my MBP Mac OS X 10.5. I wanted to install WinXP as my secondary OS with BootCamp.
My wireless keyboard & mouse are not detected when I boot in Win.
How can I get my keyboard & mouse to work
    Thanks!

A quick look at the requirements for the Apple wireless keyboard and mouse says nothing about Windows, meaning they are not supported by Apple for Windows use. That does not mean, however, that someone has not found a way to make them work. As Allan has already stated, the Bootcamp discussion area would be a good place to look. It is possible that there is a third-party application which allows them to work in the Windows environment. Good luck.

  • How to fix the mouse and keyboard freezing when installing Windows 7 on 27' iMac late 2013?

Hi, I have a question for u guys who can solve this.
I recently bought the new 27' iMac late 2013, and I installed some softwares and used it for few days.
Before I bought this I used the 15' Macbook Pro Retina, I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and I used the Windows for gaming.
    So back to my question.
So I bought the new iMac and I was tying to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (with the same CD).
After dividing the partition, and other stuff, the iMac rebooted and I hold down the option (alt) key. I choose the Windows CD, and it said it is "getting ready to install Windows". I let it load, and the blue screen where you choose the language, time/location and keyboard input popped up. At the bottom right corner (at the same page), there is a button that said "Next (N)" which u need to click it to go to the next step. I was moving my mouse to click the button, but I realized that my mouse and keyboard was frozen. I tried both wireless and wired mouse and keyboard but they didn't work. There was nothing I could do. I hold the power button, (that was the only option) and tried my mouse and keyboard on Mac OS and it worked fine.
I thought something went wrong in the CD so I bought the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The result was same. It frizzed again. (I just wast few hundred $)
Latter my friend lend me his Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. I tried it, and it worked, it didn't freezed on Windows 8.
The problem is I played Battlefield 4, Titan fall, and Watch Dogs, and Battlefield 4 multiplayer doesn't work on Windows 8.1. Even though when it works on Windows 8, I prefer using Windows 7.
Dose anyone knows how to fix this freezing thing?
    My computer is:
27' iMac late 2013 (bought it just few days ago)
I did no upgrades when I bought it, except the graphic card.
I bought the iMac in Korean Apple Store, and my Windows CD is in Korean, can that be a problem?
Please leave a comment when u think u can solve my problem.

    See -> http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf.
In addition to the Windows disc (or USB flash drive with the Windows installer) you'll need a 8GB+ flash drive.
The referenced manual - on page 3, I think, gives you a run-down of what you'll need before you begin the installation. You may also want to post any further Boot Camp questions in the Boot Camp forum -> https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp.
    Good luck,
