How to fix "Dead Pixel(s)" on LCD screen

I currently bought a Brand new tv off ebay, and when I got it in the mail, I was excited, but when I turned it on 22" LED Back light LCD 1080p full HDTV, and it has 2 dead pixels. I didn't think much of it, but its passed the point of when I can return it to the owner from which I bought it from. My question is, is there retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart or any other store that can fix Dead Pixels (the pixels aren't stuck, they are dead) I've tried multiple ways to fix it, such as they suggest, but Im willing to spend a few extra bucks to have the 2 pixels replaced/fixed. I've done the tapping the dead pixel to even see if it would register and it doesn't and the damp clothe way, including the heating it up with poor ventilation, for a day or so. I have seen success it in, but not completely. Help would be very much appreciated. thanks.

There is a difference betwen a "stuck" pixel and a "Dead" pixel. a stuck pixel is one that is not cycling; it is either not discharging (stuck on) or not charging (stuck off). Such pixels can spontaneously correct themselves, and are prone to recurring.
Dead pixels are pixels that are not operating at all. They are OFF, meaning dark. If the pixel is on, and displaying any color, then it is stuck and not dead. Dead pixels are generally not repairable, and are permanent.
Forget the "tricks" that you have heard. Any success you have uysing them is merely coincidental. In many cases, cycling the unit will revive stuck pixels, as sill allowing the unit to either reach full operating temperature or cooling to the coldest ambient temperature possible.

I bought my 20 in flat panel 3 years ago. Both the Dell and the Apple used the same panel from the same manufacturer. My choice was Dell because of the 3 year warranty and 5 selectable inputs. So much for history. In the last 2 weeks I have found what I thought were 2 areas of dead pixels perhaps 10x10 pixels. They were sort of irregular blobs. They were definitely not on the surface of the screen. i.e. dirt. On the off chance I was blind or something I took a very soft cloth, wet it with plain water, rubbed the blobs using my finger tip and they disappeared. I watched through a magnifying glass and you could see the surrounding pixels distorting from the pressure. I don't know what I did to the LCD layer behind the glass but the suffice to say the blobs were gone. The same thing should apply to the Apple display since it uses the same panel. I am not recommending this as a tested and guaranteed fix I am just telling my experience. PS, I am an absolute Mac fan and am not recommending any one elses product.

I have a 2 year old iPod touch in very good condition, and I am starting to notice that some pixels where dying. It started out as a very few, then a bit more, and this morning, there was even more. I want to fix this cuz I am afraid that the problem grows and that I will no longer be able to use my iPod. It is out of warranty now, and I do not feel like paying a fortune to get it fixed...I take extreme good care of my iPod. And I have no money to get a new one.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Unfortunatly the only solution i can see is to either buy a replacement screen or a new ipod. As you said you have no money to get a new one so you may be able to find a replacement screen cheaper than buying a new ipod. Or you could try an LCD repair kit, though i have only seen them for fixing LCD screens in car speedometers.

You cannot "fix" dead pixels. All you can do is replace the screen. See:

I purchased ipad mini at staples.ca recently and just realized the screen has small factory defect, either a dead pixel or dust under screen. Seems just passed staples.ca's refund exchange period. what can apple do?

Place the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore. This should force a reinstall of the iOS.

White dot (not dead pixel) on external LCD monitor.

I recently noticed a strange situation. I've owned a MacBook Pro 13" since October, and usually run it with an external Samsung T260 LCD monitor by MiniDP to DVI. I run the monitor at its full resolution of 1920x1200.
When I arrange the monitors so that the Samsung is on top of my MBP, there is a white dot about the size of a pixel approximately 3 inches from the left and 1/2 inch from the bottom of the screen. I thought it was a dead pixel, but when I move the external monitor to be on the left of the MBP, the white dot moves to 3 inches from the top and 1/2 inch from the right.
* The white dot does not appear when I arrange the monitors in any other configuration.
* The white dot appears when using MiniDP to VGA adapter as well.
* When I zoom using the modifer key+scroll method, the white dot grows bigger.
I've tried using the JScreenFix applet, but as I said, it doesn't look like a dead pixel.
Can anyone offer any other suggestions, that may involved poking around in the Video RAM space?

Just returning to provide more information:
While playing around with my screen layouts, I found that the white dot is actually part of the menu bar graphic. I arranged my monitors and captured the screen to show the placement of the dot.

Fix dead pixel..

i have one dead pixel on my macbook and im not going to waste my time go to apple and fix it plus i know they probaly wont deal with just one dead pixel..
my question is is there a way to fix this? i google it but theres so many ways to try and fixit ..whats the best method way to try and fix a dead pixel? im not sure on what to do? is this normal? do you have a dead pixel on your macbook?

The same thing happened to me. I bought my macbook in the beginning of October. I had ONE stuck pixel... and they replaced it with a new Santa Rosa macbook...so it was worth the drive.
For me, I just went in and picked the youngest employee I saw. Shook hands with him to be polite, told him my dilemma and showed it to him. He called some other employees too, and I shook their hands also to be polite (and kind of to kiss you know what). He asked what my major was in college, and I told him graphics designer. And then BAM he switched it on the spot. Apparently that was his major to and he said that he couldn't stand a stuck pixel either.
Moral lesson... Apple employee's (actually all employee's) deal with a lot of people everyday. You just be nice to them and kiss you know what. It paid off for me.
But it's a dead pixel not a stuck pixel right?
If its black its dead...if its colored.. its stuck
So if its stuck, I used pixel fixer for mine before I turned it in... but it didn't work. I actually left it on my screen for about 8 hours, and no change.
Hope yours isn't dead but stuck...as stuck is a just a little bit easier to fix.

Show us the original picture at it's full resolution (you may need to put it on a photo sharing site if it's too large for a forum post), explain what you are trying to do and we may be able to give better advice.
Some general suggestion though if you want to try for yourself (work on a copy of the image, or just duplicate the background layer and work on the duplicate) include, Sharpen, Gaussian Blur, Noise Filters (try Despeckle), increasing resolution during a resize operation, varying the resizing algorithms.

I just purchased the Apple 23" Display and have been reading this forum about dead pixels. How can I check my new display for dead pixels.
I have a Dell Computer with Window XP home OS. Any help would be most appreciated. So far everything is working just fine with this display and I am quite pleased. But I want to make sure that everything is working properly.

You don't need to "find" dead pixels. Unless your vision is seriously impaired, you will see them just fine. If you don't see any you probably don't have any so don't worry about it.

I sent my mbp 15" to the service center for a dead pixel. they changed the screen but now, I get notified that I need to restart my mbp and now, I just hear 3 beeps and it doesn' turn on.

I sent it to the service center last month to be repaired. It was running fine and it was perfect except for the dead pixel. Today, I got it back. They changed the screen. When I got home, I opened it and it was running fine until my screen darkened with a message telling me that I need to restart. And I turned it on again, and after a few times of black screen and restarting, it won't turn on and it beeps 3x when I try to turn it on. It became worse after the dead pixel repair. My question is what is the problem with my mbp? And how long would it take to get repaired because I'm a collge student who really needs a laptop.

When it beeps 3 times, it means that it's the RAM. now we have two scenarios here :
1 - The RAM is Dead and needs to be replaced
2 - The other one is that during shipping and all the RAM might have been improperly seated, you need to take it to the service stores and they would reseat the RAM for you and that will be an easy fix. but if the RAM is dead then they would replace the RAM if your MBP is still under warranty.

Screen has black/dead pixels and line across screen.

My iphone is still under its one year warranty. I can not recall any drops or it ever being handled roughly, however I have a black/gray blob of dead pixels in the left corner and my screen has a shiny line that looks like a crack of the LCD, however the glass screen is not cracked in any way that I can tell. I think the dead pixels are spreading as well. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know if this is under warranty? I live over an hour and a half from the nearest apple store so I really don't want to take a special trip to see a genius only to find out that I will have to pay $200 to get this fixed. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

If it is still under warranty, they should replace the screen without charging you. The same thing happened to me a few months ago and they replaced it for free. You might have to make the long trip to the store but they shouldn't charge you and it will take about 30 minutes. Call to make an appointment first if you plan to go to the apple store.
